MBB: Roster Updated

Submitted by Tate on

The MGoBlue.com roster has been updated. This includes heights, weights and incoming freshman.

Looks like DJ Wilson and Duncan Robinson both put on some weight, and Mo Wagner is the tallest player on the team.

are going to surprise a lot of people next year.  I was recently talking with a State fan who actually follows college basketball a couple of days ago and told him I was excited to see the M v. MSU games next year.  He replied "seriously, who do you guys even have left?"  Um, everybody, and the two best players on the team are back from injury.  So, yeah, we have a few guys "left."

"...actually follows college basketball..." Apparently, not closely. The return of Caris and DW are well documented, and the development of the frosh was noted.

think that our perspective is the national perspective, or even the regional perspective.  It is not.  All people who are not Michigan fans remember is "missed the tournament" and "lost to NJIT."  Fans of other teams did not note our incremental improvement and really do not remember our injuries.  Almost all people still think of Spike as the "white kid from Loiusville game" and believe that he already graduated, they are unaware that he was legitimately one of the best guards in the conference last year or that he is still in college.  We will be unranked going into the season and most people will be like "huh?" the first time we beat somebody down.

They have already been consistently ranked in some of the early ranking predictions. Seriously, we could bet and the winner donates to Motts. $50.00 sound good?

A quick Google search and I found Michigan is predicted to be ranked anywhere from #15 to #25 by all of the following.. There are certainly more but I tired of searching after these. The only list I came across that did not have Michigan ranked was Eamon Brennan from ESPN. So I think its fair to say Michigan is expected to be ranked, but who knows as these are just opinions. I'm game if you still want to bet.

he just convinced me, give me dollar back."

No bet, because from the looks of things I would lose.  I will donate the $50.00 to Mott one I find a check that would not bounce, and we can agree that Michigan will be ranked somewhere around 20 pre-season. (But I still think we will be notably better than most expect).

Did the State fan recall that we took 'em to overtime at Lansing last year, with an inexperienced and depleted version of the same roster. Seems a bit presumptuous.

They worked Doyle so hard he shrunk an inch

Summary

  • Wilson and Duncan up 20 lbs (all great weight)
  • Chatman added an inch and 5 lbs (hope he added some ability to play basketball)
  • Walton added an inch and 5 lbs as well
  • Maar added 10 lbs
  • Dawkins up 15 lbs
  • Caris up 5 lbs
  • Doyle up 5 lbs but shrunk an inch. ZOMG

I dont doubt that Chatman grew, and will continue to do so. That kids hips were up to his chest and his arms hung past his knees. His body really looked like it hadnt come close to maturing yet. He'll figure it out with every bit of confidence he gains.

There's a long history of fudging those numbers at every level in team sports. There were several years under Carr when our OL were all listed 298 or 299 when some were obviously over that. I found that the most amsing.

Reminds me of the OP who so desperately wanted the shirtless photo of the guys at the Dakich residence to "show a buddy".

Looks like he put on some good weight for some much needed banging down low. I believe Doyle can be a load down their on the blocks as a true back to the basket type. Donnal hasn't really shown much, but I'm hoping he can at least stretch the floor. Also going to be interesting to see how Kam develops. Roster looks damn good on paper IMO with Beilein and his system.

Cool Story Bro Warning! My friend and I met Stauskas and Spike a couple weeks ago and they could not have been nicer. Although Nik was unwilling to give me insider information on DeMarcus Cousins, but I won't hold that against him.

Great info.  Thanks.

I'm legitimately excited about this team.  If we get ANY...just ANY...meaningful contributions from some combination of Chatman, Robinson, Wilson, and Wagner, we'll be in good shape.

I'm keeping my expectations for Wagner low next season, so if he does make a real contribution it will be a big bonus.  I think he's going to need a season to bulk up some, get his feet on the ground academically,  and adjust to the much higher level of competition.
