Agreed 1000%.  That's what being in a cult is all about.  Any possible peace of information gets interpreted to support their narrative because they cannot process anything that doesn't conform to their little brother worldview.

For example, let's say a basketball coach becomes famous for having his players practice wearing football pads.  That same coach has a game where his team has significantly more fouls called on them than on the other team.  Their "hall of fame" coach (with a single natty) pulls up a step stool and looks over the podium to complain about the foul discrepancy as though it is the officials' job to call the same number of fouls on each team.  A rational person would think, "Little Thomas, that's not how that works. If you want fewer fouls, stop teaching your players to be goons and blasting dudes".  An RCBM cult member, however, thinks, "blue wall".

I’ve seen some Sparties argue Michigan should have to forfeit the last eight games, the games following Mazi’s arrest. So, if a player on a football team is arrested, not even charged or convicted, the team should forfeit. Follow that?

A team can have a convicted murderer play for them without repercussions. There’s nothing in the NCAA rule book against it.

Sentencing hearing 12/29 in Washtenaw County.  Can he do that virtually?

Update:  Angelique tweeted that today’s hearing was on Zoom and expected the one on 12/29 to be on Zoom

I'd like to see him challenge the validity of that law. It seems like he purchased the firearm legally and the gun was registered to him. Mazi has a 2nd Amendment right to “keep and bear arms,” and that right “shall not be infringed.” This law appears to infringe on his constitutionally protected right. I see absolutely nothing wrong with what he did, merely being in possession of his firearm.

I don't understand why Holmes Youthful Trainee Act wasn't part of the deal.   Maybe it will be made available at sentencing.  It pretty much exists for stuff like this.

I would not be at all surprised if Judge Simpson takes the Holmes Act into account at sentencing, along with the fact that Mazi possibly thought that his CPL - which he received days later - was already approved.  He knew he'd completed/passed all the components of securing the license, but perhaps didn't realize he had to wait to receive the piece of paper officially stating that the license had been granted (if that's what he was thinking?).  Such thinking doesn't excuse the act, but it does lend insight into motive, and the apparent lack of a criminal one, which can be considered by a judge at sentencing.

I'm surprised Shea didn't push for a different sentencing date today during the arraignment, but perhaps he has reason to believe Simpson will allow it to happen virtually.

Basically, this is over except for the details of the final punishment.

1. The gun was NOT loaded but ammo nearby and the gun not being locked away is what made this a "felony" - unless you have a CCP

2. Mazi answered yes to having a gun - no effort to hide things

3. Youthful mistake, without intent (other than speeding which a civil offense), means Holmes Act can apply to him

4. Expect a suspended sentence pending: paying a small fine and court costs, performing community service, staying out of trouble

5. He'll be in Arizona on 12/31 period.
