Per Matt Slovin, Daniel Milne has left hockey team

Please not Trouba, please not Trouba, please not Trouba...

According to the guy who first tweeted this (@MarkEdwardsHP), it's not Trouba. Also:
@markedwardshp @paivatheway So many options. Nieves, Guptill, Hyman, Serville, Di Giuseppe...
— OHL Prospects Blog (@BrockOtten) January 10, 2013
@brockotten none of the above.
— Mark Edwards (@MarkEdwardsHP) January 10, 2013
I don't follow hockey that closely. Who else could it be?
January 10th, 2013 at 3:14 PM ^
I hate saying this, but the way this season is going I'm surprised it's only one. I'd think those OHL vultures would be lighting up the phones of everyone and anyone on the team.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:15 PM ^
Unfortunately that's a reasonable statement. I can't imagine it's a pleasant team to be on right now.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:14 PM ^
Other then those 5, maybe Daniel Milne? Hasnt seen a ton of ice this year..
January 10th, 2013 at 3:17 PM ^
Someone on the Noof made the same statement, possibly speculation, possibly not. Milne apparently is Owen Sound property.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:25 PM ^
The guy who Edwards tweeted to is involved with Owen Sound.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:17 PM ^
was going to be Milne or Rutledge, since that guy eliminated almost everyone else haha.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:29 PM ^
FWIW: A couple people sent tweets to the guy who started the rumor suggesting Milne and got no response.

He was probably going to do that anyway, especially after his performance at WJC. I was hoping we'd have a good season and he would be an asset to a tournament run, but it is not to be. Frankly, if we can get him through the year and on to the pros without him regretting that he came here instead of the O, I'll be happy with that. I'd love to have him back next year but it's not going to happen.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:43 PM ^
I never once expected Trouba to last more than a season here. I don't think anyone else really did either
January 10th, 2013 at 3:19 PM ^
If you exclude the guys listed above, that leaves Milne, Copp(you can cross him off too), or Selman.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:29 PM ^
Probably reasonable to accept Edwards' exclusion of those players. His twitter feed reads as if he knows who the player is (multiple sources, too) but he is unwilling to divulge the name. He is pretty firm on denying that it is the excluded players.

Well, at least it's not Lewan.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:32 PM ^
Can report that freshman forward Daniel Milne, whose #OHL rights are held by Owen Sound, is not practicing with #Michigan today.

Too bad. But then, with how bad the team has been, if you can't get on the ice, it's not unreasonable to look elsewhere. Might be bad for him long-term in academics, though.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:34 PM ^
Not only was Milne not playing, Red was scratching him over the three walk-ons Rohrkemper, Lindsay Sparks, and Sinelli.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:49 PM ^
Sparks and Sinelli werent walk-ons were they? Definitely thought they were scholarship guys
January 10th, 2013 at 3:58 PM ^
Little known fact, Lindsay Sparks walked on the same year Lee Moffie did. I'm wrong about Sinelli, he flipped from MSU.
January 10th, 2013 at 4:36 PM ^
are you also implying Moffie walked on? Because I know that's not true. I wasn't sure on SInelli but I had though Sparks was a scholarship player

January 10th, 2013 at 3:35 PM ^
And now I can confirm that freshman Daniel Milne has left the #Michigan hockey program.

Don Cherry is OUTRAGED at this development.

I'm sorry, but that is simply false. There are some good players that went elsewhere that would help the team, but the players that are in Ann Arbor are quite capable of playing good hockey. There are draft picks everywhere, and the talent level on this team is, at worst, top-three in the conference.
The reason the team is sliding is because the players are not playing up to their potential and not playing at all well as a team.
You don't actually think BG was more talented than Michigan on Tuesday, do you?
January 10th, 2013 at 4:16 PM ^
Could it possibly be Red? I guess we should wait one more season to see, but if this continues next year it might be time unfortunately.
January 10th, 2013 at 8:44 PM ^
Should have specified that as failures in goalie recruiting. Losing goalie recruits like Jack Campbell, John Gibson have led to the current goaltending situation. With Gibson backing out, Hunwick was the only goalie with any experience on the roster last year. I could smell the potential goaltending problems miles away but still remained confident since Red had been praising Rutledge and saying it was "his job to lose".
I would say Rutledge has performed the worst of the 3 so far.
January 10th, 2013 at 9:10 PM ^
That's not to say that things couldn't be better, just that Michigan has been ravaged by the corruption of the OHL more than any other team in the NCAA.

meh. He hardly played and was more than often a scratch.
I am to the point where I don't give a shit anymore. Especially seeing the rest of the team not giving a shit after the cheap shot on Mac Beats. The snark is going to strong in me when I go to the rest of the games in section 17.
