"I think I'll make my life easy and just get this over with"

He was at the msu spring game this past weekend but people seem to think he favors UofM. It would be wonderful to grab another instate 4 star especially if it takes one away from a rival such as msu. Here is his Scout profile

http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=5176129

He'd probably end up playing rush end like Roh.

As was previously stated about how many DE's we are taking as opposed to DT's I think that 2 DE"s and 3 DT's is most likely considering our current lack of DT's.

With Godins supposed impending commitment does anyone know what position he will play? He seems like a likely replacement for RVB who plays Stong Side End this year?? In our new defense isnt this position called the 5 technique????

be something along the lines of

2 DT:  Let's just say Day and Pipkins

2 SDE/DT: Let's say Godin and Wormley

2 WDE:  Brown and Ojumedia

If there's enough attrition I think you can fit in all 6 guys but I think this breakdown fills the most needs and allows the flexibility of Godin and Wormley if they eventualy outgrow SDE to slide inside and play DT.

And I believe that you are correct that Godin slides in as a replacement for RVB at SDE

A couple of sources from Rivals calling MO to Michigan a done deal.  Spartan sources from their Rivals site confirm they are hearing the same info.

Edit:   O/K do you have a link to the above or what ?

I guess I'm confused why these sites keep feeling the need to ruin it for these kids. It happened with James Ross and a few others that have slipped my mind right now.

I was told where he's going yesterday, it doesn't mean I need to share it. I just don't get it, I guess.

is that those people might be bitter they didn't get the scoop or something like that. Maybe a need for attention too.

Either way, I appreciate how you can tell us something is happening without ruining who it is. It makes for the excitement we desire, while letting the kid get his moment. Thanks for that.

It should always come from the recruit first.  Frustrating that this keeps happening.

Having heard that he's made his decision, do you have any sense for when he's going to announce?  Will be much more meaningful to hear it from him than from bitter posters on MSU message boards.

It's pretty simple Tom. They have to show their memebers why they pay $100 a year. You don't have to do that here and that's makes this place better. It's not one big frickin war to see who can get the scoop. In the future, you treating these guys the way you do will pay off. Sooner or later these Rivals and Scout guys won't be getting the info and then will be out of business.

I think in this day and age with Twitter, Facebook and other football message boards something is bound to come out about a recruits decision whether it be mario or any other top recruit. I do agree you RBWolverine, it should come from the recruit first.

To clarify Tom, no mod from TheWolverine said anything like that.   Helmholdt had an update saying that Michigan may be pulling away from the pack of suitors.  Nothing definitive. The done deal stuff is coming from well connected posters, not Mods.

I can speak for everyone, but most of us, inclusive of me, appreciate what you say and they way you say things & do your business.  Not only us but the kids you speak to also and post about later.

I wholeheartedly agree that the kids should be the ones to let everyone know where they intend to go to school.  Tom the way you handle the inside info you get is very classy.  I wish the same could be said for others.  You give us a heads up without trying to steal the kid's moment and that is one reason I prefer this forum over any of the others.  Thank you sir and keep up the good work it is much appreciated by all of us.

I think Michigan has a great chance at having an outstanding DE class. It seems there's a lot more talent than usual, especially in the Midwest. ie. If these guys want to stay in the region and go to a national football power their options are Michigan, Notre Dame & Ohio State. ND took 3 top top rated guys last year and OSU has limited numbers this year.  (I'll say now I have no idea where anyone is going) For fun let's say

Ohio State takes 3 - say Ifeadi Odenigbo, Greg McMullen & LaTroy Lewis

Notre Dame takes 3- Tom Strobel, Se'Von Pittman, Adolphus Washington

Michigan then could choose from Matt Godin, Mario Ojemudia, Chris Wormley & Pharoah Brown.

I'd normally say Penn State could come in an pick off one or 2 since they are the next closest power. However PSU already has a DE commitment from Michael Moore, and I imagine they'll be in on both Sean Spence and Darius Hamilton.

Obviously any of these players could choose one of these other teams or another program not listed. I sure hope these guys don't go out of conference, especially to the SEC. I prefer top level recruits to stay in the region to provide competition to make Michigan better and to strengthen the conference as a whole.

I don't know how many DE's any of these schools are gonna take but there is a lot of talent available. I think we're all gonna be pleased with our DE recruiting next February. It's gonna be interesting nonetheless.

but I saw some front page item on Scout about a "silent verbal" he supposedly has given to an unnamed B12 school. Since he's in KC it would hardly surprise me if he ends up at OK or TX. I just hope we don't end up facing him when we play Nebraska.

I check Mgoblog for your updates.  I like what Brian does on this site and I really like the fact that I have to guess what is going on by your updates.  Sure, I get all jazzed up when you say we have big news coming soon.  It's like Christmas being a week away.  I also know that Christmas is a week away for that recruit and he wants to be the one to hand us the present when he wants to.  It happens to be his moment, no Rivals'.  You get a lot of respect around here for doing things the right way.  It isn't the information you share, but the integrity you use in sharing it.

MO: to my fans-thank you for all the attention and wanting me to play for your school. However,  because of my Awesome Ray of Death stare, I have decided to forgo my football career and take my talents to join Professor Charles Xavier in his battle against Magneto to keep the world safe for humankind.

I'm an MSU fan and I check this site for recruiting info every so often. FWIW, the Ojemudia news didn't leak through a Mod or a writer ... It came from message board posters who are close to people in the know at FHH. As far as I know, nobody "official" from the major recruiting sites has chimed in on the situation.

TomVH

This is my two cents on this situation, FWIW. Mario, Devin Funchess, and Aaron Burbridge will be visiting this weekend. Since all this "news" about Mario is out there now, I'll say this, I don't know when Mario is going to make his decision within this month, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if it happened this weekend. I'M NOT SAYING IT IS HAPPENING, please make sure you read that I'm not saying it's happening. I'm not sure when he'll announce yet. I think the Michigan State coaches will probably try their hardest to delay it, or try to convince him how much they want him.

I will also say that anyone that says Aaron Burbridge is an MSU lock doesn't know what they're talking about. I was told quite a bit this weekend about Mario and Aaron, and if Mario chooses Michigan then there's a chance Aaron would follow. He does have grade issues, but I don't think it's bad enough to where Michigan wouldn't take him and hope he makes it. I don't want to say too much, obviously, but there's a chance Michigan could steal those two from MSU.

I wholeheartedly endorse the idea of this happening.  It'd be wonderful if MO did commit this weekend, and Dunn and Burbridge were inspired to impulsively follow suit.  No, but realistically you can't ask for a better visit atmosphere, especially if they'll be touring things together.  They'll see everything through Mario's eyes, and he's clearly very impressed with M which can only help to improve the impressions that the other two take away (not that it seems like M needs help making a good impression).
