Because the reason the guy got fired was some butting heads and tension with the head coach and some baffling play calls at the end of the game, not because the overall scheme was a problem.

He went to Michigan to get DC experience, not to be the DC for the next five years at Michigan.

FWIW I met "Big Nut" this summer on the Lake Erie Islands and he's actually a pretty cool guy.  He does a ton of fund-raising for charity in his get-up, isnt an angry OSU fan at all (just very emotionally engaged) and was fun to talk to.

Now if you want to discuss "Buck-I-Guy" that dude is a first class 100% douchebag.  Even the OSU fans hate him.  He actually crashed a funeral.

Really getting sick of all these up and down coaching rumors. Wish I could just go to sleep and wake up at the start of next season to find out who's coaching where.

Exactly, they have extremely high turnover as does Alabama.  They just replace with more good guys though (except when they miss like with Coombs).

As for why no one wants Ryan Day.  Uh, probably almost everyone wants him but what's the step up job?  There aren't any in college and the NFL isn't exactly clamoring for college coaches.  He's at the summit already.

Way too much speculation so till MacDonald leaves, if he were to I’d be interested in Martindale as his replacement.  Ran the defense for years and taught it to MacDonald.  Bigger thing would be how is he as a recruiter.

NFL isn’t so simple, it’s all scheme every week, so you get some players injured or out due to covid, it really puts a strain on a coordinator and that is what the Ravens dealt with all season.  Not sure why he was fired other than scapegoated and then oh, we need to replace him….

If Mike Macdonald goes to the Raven, Michigan could hire Wink Martindale to replace him.  A one-for-one swap.  Martindale signed a three year contract in Feb 2020 for $3.25 million/year.  The Ravens are on the hook for Martindale's 2022 salary.  Michigan could hire him for peanuts for one year and the Ravens would have to make up the difference in salary.  The did something similar with Jedd Fisch when he was fired as OC with Jacksonville.  Another possibility is Vic Fangio.  He was Jim Harbaugh's DC at Stanford and the 49'ers.  Denver owes him $5 million for 2022.
