Lorenz: Dylan Crawford "Expected to Decide Jan 9th"

Submitted by alum96 on

With another 2 crystal ballz in today for Dylan Crawford the writing appears to be on the wall in regards to his ultimate decision; this leaves just one holdout out of anyone who has made a pick the past 4-5 months.  Lorenz is indicating today Crawford should be announcing at the Army AA game Jan 9th so you need not only watch for Nauta that day.

This now certainly looks like the guy Ahmir Mitchell hinted at as a 4th commitment "coming soon".  If UM can land Delance on the 2nd it could make for another heck of a week in recruiting with two top 125 kids.

but we're not getting him so no need to think about it. Corley has more danger to his game and could be solid on either side of the ball but Crawford is a good WR. He blocks well and has good hands but lacks size or that extra gear you'd expect a player of his ranking out of California to have. He's more in the mold of a "low" 4*, IMO. Corley is firmly in the 4* range and closer to 5 than 3, IMO. I do have to add that I'm a bit biased as I've loved Corley's game for a while now. He could be scary good in college but I'm usually ok with being fair in comparisons. Both solid but I'd take Corley if we could have either.

The dude asked "why" do peeps prefer Craw or Corley - the only one to answer was that he blocks - everyone else just said forget Corley or "Corley's better"...

Runs better routes? Faster? Jumps higher? Which one plays better?

They both look like great gets to me, so I'd balance how much I hate losing local studs to msu or osu vs the value of opening up pipelines in Cali... looked at that way you can't go wrong with either I guess.

I'd said it's my opinion that Corley is more dangerous at the WR position and can absolutely play either side of the ball. Crawford is purely a WR (IMO) and is more of a low-4* on the ability side compared to Corley, who I'd call a legit 4* that borders on 5*. By that I mean that there isn't one thing Crawford does that I'd say is significantly better than Corley. Maybe blocking but I'd still say no. Speed? I don't have their 40s on hand but I'd say no. Nothing. The reverse isn't true. Corley is much more polished as a WR and has the size and strength to be a DB if needed. We all said Corley because it only takes eyeballs to choose and it's so obvious that nothing more really needs said.

Just watched highlights for both and didn't see much of a difference between the two in WR skills. Both are fast and elusive and have decent size.  Corley might have a tad more speed, but Crawford is more aggressive.  He drilled some kids and really seems to like mixing it up physically.

National ratings for the two are also pretty close.

I'd be very happy with either kid.

has a football body and is physical. Agree Corley might be a little shiftier with more speed but no way he can block an ant on the football field. He wouldn't be able to play in The Baugh's offense. Crawford all day. One of the best in Cali. Cant go wrong getting him!

and I'd play him at FS if on defense but I think he's a WR all the way. As for WR physicality, it's not ideal or amazing but it can be taught. msu won't stand for it so he'll learn to block or not play as much. He could get away with it a but more at osu but it's still the weakest part of his game, IMO. As a pure WR he's a top-5 guy nationally, IMO. I'm a big fan of his game and it's sad he won't be here because he grew up a huge UM fan. I think I heard he knew Carr as a kid. He'd come to UM youth camps and tore it up so much that Carr took notice. He would have been.......7-8 at the time (haha)? I haven't seen them but I heard there are pics of those two from 2006ish.

so few "swim lanes". I don't know any so-called 'inside information' at all, but there's bound to be a surprise decommit or two if we're going to have enough room for the kids Harbaugh is trying to get.

IMO we will have a much better view of things after January 2nd. There's a small chance we take both Delance and Davis, and there's also a chance we get neither, this would give us a better look at the final class. Besides Gary I want Jean Delance the most.

Levi O and Long seem to be UM v WA battles.

Jackson still has a lot of suitors and is going down to NSD, wouldn't mind 1 piece of drama that day to keep it interesting - just not 4-5 pieces.  Hopefully Brown helps in that regard, we seemed to take a step back post Durkin loss.

Fuller I hope we can at least get on campus to give us a chance.

Delance, Sam said Texas insiders feel confident but so did FSU insiders 24 hrs before that announcement with Bush. #Harbaugh #SnakeOil  Also their OL coach has some "Funk" to him based on what I read about that center who is transferring out of Texas on their message boards.

Matt Mattox. It was an embarrassing story for them, at least from my perspective. He was the co-OC.OL coach at Tulsa. Charlie Strong offered his OC job to Tulsa's other co-OC and the OL/run game coordinator position to Mattox . After getting turned down, he brought the AD and school president to visit the coaches and they convinced them to come to Austin.

when you consider how confident literally everyone down south is about Nauta and UGA. Then you add in the timing of our offer to Allen, Eason sticking with UGA and the release of Nauta's top 3 followed by the immediate decision date after and everything points to UGA. He's by far the guy I'd want after Gary that we had a shot at but I'm resigned to not getting him. A surprise would be exactly that so I hope you're on to something!
