No he didn't...did you even watch the Eagles?

Chip Kelly runs a power running offense...where in the hell is that what I'm talking about.

Again, go get me the very BEST of these Air Raid QBs that always get drafted in the 4th or 5th round and teams try to force feed "pocket passing NFL QB" down their throat and it never works. They always put them under center and make them learn a completely new offense.

I'd take the best 3 of that style QB, whoever it is...and we'd run their college Air Raid offense. Fuck being under center or changing the language, run what you know. But give me the best 3-4 of those guys and an offense coordinator who's got experience and runs that system.

Now I still want NFL OL, RB, and WRs (I may keep an additonal SLOT or two, but that's it).

And let's see what happens. What does a team like Jacksonville have to lose?

What an utter waste of money. There are plenty of bums out there that can go 5-46 vs teams with winning records and/or 1-25 on the road for a helluva lot less money than $27 million.

Calling somebody a troll when you have nothing to back it up is the very definition of a troll. I am only going to tell you this once. Do not be confused by my avatar. I am not an o$u fan. But if you would like to live in la-la land, by all means.

Edit: And by the way, if you want to talk about juvenile, it is SITE. Not sight. You are a grown man. You should know better.

I'm sorry but this is a no brainer...he IS a franchise qb. He will not be the highest paid player come next year. Ask the jags, jets, bills etc of the league who rotates through qbs..Stafford would have had half the league lining up to sign him if he was a fa..they don't grow on trees, and he is a hell of a qb and leader in the locker room..great Sign

It sure seems like a lot but it you know it'd cost them more to let him go. There's no one out there that's better that would come to Detroit, even for that paycheck. The good qb's are sewn up and the lions know he's the best they're going to get for a good long while.

Part of me was admittedly sort of annoyed at the amount because my inner Lions fan just reacts like that to large numbers when the team as a whole doesn't seem to be operating up to what you think such salaries would get you, but yeah, who would come here if this didn't happen? As it is, my confidence in the season is not high, but it wouldn't be higher with someone else other than Stafford.

Stafford gave the Lions a hometown discount. Stafford could've easily gotten $30 million per year since he has all of the leverage but he didn't.

I'm glad he got it done today because next off-season is going to be ridiculous with Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Kirk Cousins and Sam Bradford.  Kirk Cousins will hit the open market and will get a shit ton of money to set the market. Aaron Rodgers will wait and see until everything is all setted and will get paid at a minimum $30 million per year.

I get it. You're worth what the free market says you're worth. But the guy has won how many playoff games? I believe it's somewhere between zero and zero.

They obviously think he's their guy, so do what you've got to do. But to pay him more money than what guys like Brady and Rodgers are making is insane.

unless the lions want to give up for the next 5 years and go into a rebuilding phase this is what they had to do. you don't get a QB on staffords level in free agency. and developing a midround QB is a crap shoot at best.   Stafford is a good QB on a good team with a good defence he could take you to a superbowl.  swap brady out for stafford and honestly patroits keep winning superbowls.  don't get me wrong what brady does is amazing, but its a team game and his team covers up a lot of things a lesser team couldn't.

I believe everyone here knows how I feel about stafford. I'd rather pay that exact same contract to kaep, bortles, brock, simeon, tyrod taylor, or some random dude off the street.

Get to that conclusion. You are alone on an island and it makes no sense. The stats say he's good and the experts say he's in that second tier of QBs in the league. If you want better you have to go to Rodgers, Brady, Brees from a few years ago, and maybe a couple others. By every measurable quantity he's one of the better QBs in the league and you just refuse to see it.

between 1991-2010 (pre-Stafford), I guess it's nice to have a little Packer-like stability at the most important position in football. Bob Quinn looks like he knows what he's doing, so I'm going to put a little faith in him and hope the playoff wins are forthcoming.

Everyone freaking out about him being the highest paid player need only wait a few months until the next round of QBs get theirs. Cousins and Brees and the like are gonna get PAID next year.
