The legend of Shedeur Sanders was born tonight

Submitted by FrankMurphy on September 17th, 2023 at 2:30 AM

Hell of a game. Shedeur Sanders is legit, and so is Coach Prime.

CSU had a clear physical advantage and won in the trenches on both sides of the ball, but Shedeur basically carried the team on his back in the second half. Kid isn't just all flash and raw talent; he has good QB instincts and is clearly well-coached.

In any case, great game. Being a college football fan on the West Coast has some advantages, because it's still 11:30 pm here.

He's good. I think he finds a place in the pro game at least in the CFL or as an NFL backup.

As for the Buffs, they can throw but the defense and run game are still weak. They'll beat Stanford and ASU and will probably be favored against Arizona but will be underdogs in the other games, with the most likely win maybe being UCLA at home. I suspect they'll end up 6-6 or 7-5.

Barring injuries to key players (coughs in Travis Hunter), the Buffs absolutely have enough to get bow eligible in the Pac-12.

They aren't national title contenders or even conference title contenders, but this is college football. You can absolutely out-talent another team, and the Pac-12 ain't a murderer's row of defenses. Colorado has Arizona State and Stanford, two teams who look very bad on the remaining schedule. They also have Arizona. All three should be winnable games where Colorado will likely be favored. Best these three bad/mediocre-at-best teams, and the Buffs are bowl eligible. They are going bowling.

Yup. If they’re 5-0 I’m listening. And I’m not saying they can’t. I just seriously doubt it. Otherwise we can all say Deion is the best coach to ever live and watch him jump to the cowboys and then wait for the dust to clear. Or, he is mortal, and, actually, maybe, not the savior everyone thinks and he gets owned next week. Who knows? I don’t. You don’t. We’ll see and I think that’s when the meat of any discourse can happen here.

I viewed this game as purely delaying the inevitable. Deion's WWE-ification could directly be attributed to Travis Hunter's injury. CSU wouldn't likely have been as chippy as they were without the pre-game drama.

CUs season will continue to devolve - the cracks have been showing since week 2, and now they lost one of their best players trying to fly too close to the sun.

This is early warning signs of what playing for Deion gets you - which is all icing and no cake. Winning in 2OT to a 20-point underdog is a win, solely in the technical sense, at the expense of all else. I don't believe this is going to end well for CU, and that's a shame.

For me, the most telling sign was him putting Travis Hunter back in after that hit.

When people show you who they are, believe them.

Deion has shown many times. I was hoping he would redeem himself and show true integrity - I would respect him more if he took Travis out immediately and then lost.

You were downvoted for blaming a cheap shot on the payer that made the cheap shot.  That says a lot about the people who shit on Deion.  They're shitting for reasons that don't include football, because he's been a huge winner in football all his life.

I think all the coverage he's getting is nauseating, but he's being who he has been all his life.

People like you and Jay Norvel are the true pieces of shit. Jay talks about how he takes his hat and glasses off like he’s so much more holier than thou and then allows his guys to head hunt Hunter and injure him. And then you go ahead and act like that’s just fine. Talking is a part of the game. Legal hard hits in the game happen. Talking about fucking around and finding out about a guy who was head hunted is low. Ban me if you want mods. But screw these holier than thou and fuck around and find out morons.

There's nothing ethically wrong with observing that someone talked a bunch of unnecessary shit and got one of their players injured.

Nobody is excusing CSU player behavior. Of course headhunting is wrong. All we're saying is when you play emotional football and are chattering on that wavelength, don't be surprised when someone wants to get in the pen with you and play in shit.

Also, don't act as if CU is exclusively using their words - I saw Shadeur eyepoking.

You can set a respectful tone or a toxic tone. When you set a toxic tone don't be surprised when bad shit happens aka "fuck around and find out."

You can screw off too. Talking doesn’t equate someone getting a free shot at your head and intentionally trying to injure a player.

Nobody is excusing CSU player behavior.

That’s exactly what you and njvictor, as well as others, are doing. Are you too dumb to realize that? Your excusing it by victim blaming. One of these guys was talking shit and other took it a whole step further. While their head coach talks about class and being better than. Fuck that. Anyone excusing it is right there with Jay Norvell in my book. He pretends he’s so much better and then allows his players to act like that.

That’s exactly what Tom Allen does too. Professes to teach sound football and Christian ideals and class on the field. Then asks his players to head hunt guys or intentionally try to hurt them.

The whole message behind your post is he talked shit so what did he expect? Literally fuck around and find out. Because he’s cocky? He’s not the 1st or last guy to talk shit and most of the time you won’t find someone head hunting them. You’ll find that they will try to beat them within the rules of the game. Caleb Williams talked mega shit about Utah and unless I am wrong, I don’t recall hearing anything about them intentionally head hunting him. Because they have a coach, like Harbaugh, who won’t put up with that shit. Unlike the fake ass Jay Norvell who cries and then allows his players to do that. And I didn’t say anything about Sanders poking someone or not. This is specifically about victim blaming Hunter for shit talking. I never said Sanders was in the right.

If someone goes to a bar and is talking mad shit to someone face, then gets clocked, it's fair to assign blame to them. That is what happened here. If you're gonna talk shit, be prepared when people are going to react physically. I'm not condoning it, but that's how the world sometimes works

I think FAAFO is often used by morons to justify violent behavior in response to nonviolent agitation.  However, I will say that if you are going to taunt and agitate people when you are already engaged in a violent sport, you had better have your head on a swivel, because you make a target of yourself.

It was a nice gutsy win for them tonight against a rival to start them out 3-0 in a way that few predicted.  No question it's looking like a smart hire for Colorado when essentially they were pegged to lose almost every game.

However, I'm not going to drink the Kool-Aid until I see how they look when they have to play Oregon and USC respectively.  Seems like their luck may be running out and I just don't think I can buy into them matching up with teams for the duration of an entire game that they can't out-athletic.

This site is full of old w___ guys so most likely they’re going to be haters.

CU did get exposed but Prime needs to develop linemen as we know in how integral that is to winning. 2-3 years to do that in-house. He’s in for a challenge bc Oregon and USC are going to truck em.

I'm getting to be one, for sure. And I come from an old civil rights family in Flint and A2, and I think that the lions who came before us--people like MLK--would flinch and squint and ultimately be very pissed off that a shallow (and very conservative) Mother Hubbard like Deion Sanders could flip the manipulative PR switches almost at will, all while tossing players left, right, and center out the closest window, only to have even an shallower America throw every damn thing he did into just two bins: *&^(() White, and *(&^&*(Black. C'mon folks, we can do better. And do it more lightly. Personally, I'm still looking on in horrified fascination.

And yeah, his kid can ball.
