Scout says that its down to M and texas Tech, and the deciding factor will be the weather. I hope he means playing in the cold the way football was meant to be played...
August 11th, 2010 at 8:36 AM ^
I remember reading on scout that he's more of a cold weather guy, because he's been hot his whole life in Florida, but he can deal with the cold. Something like that.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:03 AM ^
That makes me nervous.
If it's down to us and Tx Tech and the deciding factor is weather... I mean they may as well start posting "Hello: Tony Posada" posts on Tx. Tech blogs now. (That is, if they have computers in Lubbock, hardy har har.)
Also the prospect of losing a recruiting battle with Tx. Tech is depressing..... :/

Take it easy man.

I'm not a morning person.

...that it snows in heaven too. So Posada, if you want a little taste of heaven on earth, come to Ann Arbor!
August 11th, 2010 at 9:08 AM ^
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, you been outside at all??? Fat Kid like me is roasting out here
August 11th, 2010 at 8:38 AM ^
I was going to start a thread about Posada, but lo and behold, I was beaten to it!
We knew he was announcing between 4:30 and 5 (solidified as 5 after Thursday Recruitin' was published last week), and it was assumed that Michigan was the favorite. The latest Scout header ($ article) says it's between Texas Tech and Michigan, which I think is a great sign for the Wolverines. Most recently, it had sounded like USF was the team that had caught up to Michigan. Their not even being in the question means that nobody probably has.
In recent memory, Posada has favored:
Michigan and Florida (if they offer)
Michigan and USF
Michigan and Texas Tech.
Only one school is consistent across those top 2 lists.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:16 AM ^
I like the way you think, Tim.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:37 AM ^
UF, USF and TT are the flavors of the month, nice for a change of pace, something new and fun, but chocolate never ever lets you down.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
Coming through with info!
August 11th, 2010 at 8:48 AM ^
I like his fuzzy hair.

Michigan weather might not be a minus for a kid who grew up in Florida. People who grow up in the deep south don't know what they're in for when they commit to living up here in January. I, for one,. hope that Posada is one of those guys, and the he enjoys it once he makes it up here. If not, then he will be on homesick/transfer watch for the first year.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:22 AM ^
I hope not everyone is such a wuss about the weather. Geez it's like a little cold weather is going to hurt someone vs. the summers down south that nearly kill you. Kids should be making a football and academic decision. Personally, I would rather fight off a few cold winters and be set up with a great academic institution and football program.
And isn't it just a wee bit premature to talk about possible transfer when he hasn't even committed yet?
August 11th, 2010 at 8:55 AM ^
Each player aspires to play at the next level.
Last time I checked they were still playing in January in the NFL.
Man up.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:02 AM ^
but I think that it's related to general notions of comfort and cultural expectations of what's normal rather than football per se. When I moved to Austin, TX for grad school, I was amazed at Texans' perceptions of the north and how difficult it would be for them to live in that weather. Now that I live in Toronto, I'm amazed at their perceptions of the south, and they say the same thing. I think it's just hard for some people to adjust to a different lifestyle.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:26 AM ^
He has said that he does NOT like the heat.
August 11th, 2010 at 7:53 PM ^
This is a silly sentiment.
Hey, you might go to Hell someday. You might as well go live in Death Valley for a four years.
Does that sound like a smart idea?
August 11th, 2010 at 9:58 AM ^
then he should decide whether or not he wants to be part of the leaders and best.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:03 AM ^
The rivals story hints that Posada has known his choice for a month or better already and is just now making it known. To me, that is a big plus for Michigan.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:06 AM ^
That is reassuring esp. given what Tim posted above, with M being the common denominator in his various top 2's. I could see a scenario where, if he's known for a month, it's been Michigan all along, and the other one in his top 2's were other suitors that worked their way into his good graces enough to consider them, albeit temporarily.
Ok, I now feel much better about this situation.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:24 AM ^
...do this now that I've replied, but perhaps this:
M being the common denominator
...should have been this:
M being the greatest common denominator

Posada myself with excitement!

August 11th, 2010 at 10:24 AM ^
This whole thing is shaping up to be quite the Posada... adventure? I got nothing.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:05 AM ^
I just hope that he turns the opposing defensive lineman across from him into a Posada pinata.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:12 AM ^
Could an informed recruitnik tell me why there's any excitement about Mr. Posada? As far as I can see he's a mid-level recruit not quite good enough for Florida. Is the coaching staff high on him because of a camp performance?
August 11th, 2010 at 9:25 AM ^
Right now, there is nothing wrong with getting a guy that's not quite good enough for Florida. That does not make him a mid-level recruit. Why the excitement? Because we need lineman and this guy appears to be a good one, someone that Florida was looking at if not offering.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:25 AM ^
He's a boom-or bust type, from a consistently excellent program.
With the product we've put on the field the past two years, a three-star with that profile is plenty OK with me.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:34 AM ^
Helpful... thanks.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:17 AM ^
I have a strong feeling he will be Blue, but there are some concerning factors. He and his teammate Phillip Ely are going to announce today a read a while ago they would like to play together in college, the schools that offered both are Rutgers, So Fla and Wake Forest. That being said I still think he picks us but I wouldnt be surprised if South Florida gets them as a package deal.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:33 AM ^
He and Ely have been saying for a while that they probably won't go to school together.

Lubbock.
We are not talking about Houston or Austin, its Lubbock. They get snow, bad storms, tornados etc. Weather compared to AA is a wash, or maybe even in our favor.
Also, I agree with Tim.....this is a guy that is playing for a the number one high school team in the nation, tradition rich school and plays against some of the best Florida has to offer. I would rather pick up a "only three star" from this kind of school/area than a "wow four star" from Kansas, Kentuck, Wisconson or some other state with not much competition.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:04 AM ^
Many coaches will take a "mid-level" recruit at a traditional HS powerhouse in order to establish a relationship with the coaches/school (see: Ray Vinopal from Cardinal Mooney and Tony Drake, who admittedly did not stick, from Skyline). This lays the ground work for future years to increase the chances of getting in early on a "stud" .
August 11th, 2010 at 9:56 AM ^
Boom-shaka-laka!! No package deal. Michigan Posadacakes are on order. Get 'em while they're hot!
