KMFJ Commits to Michigan Hockey
Kenny Johnson, brother of Jack Johnson has committed to the Michigan hockey team. Info is a little sparse on the kid besides he's 16, and already 6'1" and 205 and is a Defenseman like his brother.
So proud and excited that Kenny Johnson (@Mr_ED7) committed to play for @umichhockey! Can't wait to see him skating at Yost. #GoBlue

That's good news. I hope badassness runs through the whole family.
This was also a good opportunity for me to correct something stupid I've believed (without checking) for a long time. Someone told me that KMFDM stands for "kill motherfucking depeche mode." Believe it or not, it doesn't. Nice to revisit that question a couple of decades later.
I've always thought that, as well. Now I must go rethink my childhood. Damn...
no pity for the majority
IIRC, Sascha cut out a bunch of words from a newspaper (more oldness from me), ramdomly placed them in order, and voila--KMFDM.
Saw KMFDM at the Phoenix Amphitheater. And they hung out and partied with fans at Industry afterward. Yes, I've just admitted to advanced oldness.
thought this said "KLS commits" for a moment. Thought we had locked down Keisean. Hey heart palpitations!
Also - happy to hear about Kenny!
Most important part: will Mr. Johnson return to Yost? Best hockey dad ever.
I don't see how this doesn't mean the eventual return of the Johnson father
However, what will be interesting is what happens during 2nd intermission now. I believe we do the Blue Brothers dance ultimately because of him. I think the progression I recall is
JMFJ times - Jack Johnson's dad danced
Post-JMFJ - Lobster man and Frankenberry danced
St Pattys day 2009? 2010? - Everyone danced and it stuck
Now everyone in the student section believes that the Blue Bros dance (a great tradition of course) is the natural 2nd intermission activity. What will happen?
This is awesome on so many levels. I had no idea about the legend of JMFJ's dad dancing @ Yost. The crowd must let him have the spotlight again when he returns.
Don't forget the Superfan, who would duel with someone (during the JMFJ era, usually Jack, Sr.) until he threw his hat and went nuts.
The St. Patty's Day Blues Brothers Fest was in 2008.
blues bros. has been going on since at least the late 90s- not quite as organized, but they'd always play it during one of the intermissions. At some point in 97ish or so, superfan (without his costume, just a fuzzy water buffalo hat at most) would start dancing a la Jake Blues in the movie. eventually, it became a thing and the half the students would join in.
not sure what the hat throwing thing was
Yep, I know. Been going to games at Yost since the early 90s.
In the years when Superfan would do a formal dance-off with someone, he'd sort of take a few rounds to warm up, then he'd throw his Water Buffalo hat and go full out for the last run.
Frankly, the everyone-do-the-dance thing has obliterated a lot of the really cool stuff that used to happen during the 2nd intermission.
but the whole student section and a good chunk of the arena all doing the same dance is way cooler than any of that other stuff. I remember everyone used to just sit around the 2nd intermission and watch a few people, now the whole arena is into it. It's one of the most 'Yost' things going on right now
Great news! It has the added benefit of a return of Jack Sr. to Yost.
(EDIT: Bando beat me to it...)
Please stop.
Good player, but definitely not in the same category of talent as Jack. Big, strong kid that plays a physical game. Not going to provide a lot of offense. Moves pretty well for his size and should be a solid defenseman.
So we can't expect him to depcapitate a goalie? Darn.
MiHockeyNow has an article on his commitment with quotes. Note the mention of Barwis Methods.
"It wasn’t very hard to make a choice, I’ve always wanted to go there since I was a little kid," the ’98 birth-year defenseman said. "I went to every game of my brother’s, I was always running around the rink. I guess the hardest part was making the call and going to do it because I couldn’t believe it was real."
Johnson, who is entering his junior year of high school, said he isn’t sure what year he will join the Wolverines just yet. Despite traveling around the country with his family to be close to Jack, he returns to Ann Arbor every summer and also trains at Barwis Methods in Plymouth.
The new Wolverine commit said that he already has a great relationship with Michigan coach Red Berenson, due to his family circumstance.
"I went in to see Red . . . sat down with him in his office and said I wanted to be a Wolverine. I walked out as happy as could be. I’m happy to go to college there."
after playing the Daddy Dancing video above, where he says he lives in Ann Arbor (loves Ann Arbor) when he's not playing and trains in Plymouth with Barwis. Good to know Little Brother follows Big Bro everywhere.

I've been going by Eliteprospects.com
Right now it says he is playing for the Green Bay Gamblers.
They also say Lavigne will be on Michigan this upcoming season.
Welp, so much for that site.
Is a defenseman, not a forward.
I thought a radio station had commited
will resume dancing????
I'm overwhelmed with hockey news
