Justin Fields declares for NFL Draft
Good Riddance!
January 18th, 2021 at 12:00 PM ^
Clearly he’s eager to add himself to the pantheon of legendary Buckeye NFL QBs.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:02 PM ^
I mean just look at the list:
January 18th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
Even if Fields never plays a down in the NFL, he’s among the most successful ever pro OSU QBs.
January 18th, 2021 at 1:04 PM ^
Tom Tupa.
January 18th, 2021 at 4:18 PM ^
He still has less national championships than Cardale Jones.
So. There's that.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:12 PM ^
January 18th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
You misspelled Mike Tomczak.
January 18th, 2021 at 1:45 PM ^
As an OSU fan you're probably already well aware of this, but fun fact: OSU's quarterback in 1987 Tom Tupa had a pro career of sorts as a punter and made history by being the first player in league history to score a 2pt conservsion
January 18th, 2021 at 1:50 PM ^
And thus endeth the list of 0$u QB accomplishments in the League.
January 18th, 2021 at 2:22 PM ^
" a pro career of sorts "
The dude spent 17 YEARS in the NFL.... and he was a GOOD punter. Top 10 in the league for most of his career.
January 18th, 2021 at 1:53 PM ^
Hey Chuck, since he never physically went to class from the get go, do you think maybe he declared because instead of someone yelling a racist thing to him,he instead got a racist email in all caps sent to him?
January 18th, 2021 at 1:52 PM ^
Aren't you forgetting Art Schlichter? - Drafted 4th overall the year before the Colts drafted Elway.
Schlichter went on to be MVP in the Arena league!! I understand he's once again tearing it up for The Ohio State....

January 18th, 2021 at 12:03 PM ^
What will come first: a successful OSU QB in the NFL, or a Lions Super Bowl appearance?
January 18th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
Maybe it will take a successful OSU QB playing for the Lions to make a Super Bowl.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Whoa.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:56 PM ^
I think that would create some sort of black hole that would instantly condense the known universe to a singularity and then we'd have another Big Bang and everything would begin anew.
January 18th, 2021 at 3:07 PM ^
If that effect was limited to CFB, it doesn't sound so bad.
January 18th, 2021 at 2:25 PM ^
well,
Art Schlichter did lead the Detroit Drive to the arena bowl. . .
and gambled away his salary when they didn't cover the spread.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Ah...the old unstoppable force vs the immovable object paradox.
Or maybe in this case, the lesser know paradox, the easily stoppable force vs the easily moveable object.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:31 PM ^
Or the Wolverines beating an OSU quarterback?
January 18th, 2021 at 12:03 PM ^
I think the issue there is the infrastructure at osu is so good that a mediocre QB can come in and look great in college but lost in the pros.
January 18th, 2021 at 6:27 PM ^
Let's be honest. JT Barrett, Haskins, and Fields were far more than just mediocre College QBs. And while we're on the subject, how many Saban / Alabama QBs have really shined in the NFL ? They're very good CF QBs but OK-decent NFL QBs. But so what ? They sure have the trophies to offset their "mediocre" QBs
January 18th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
Bye Felicia
January 18th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
A really good college QB that I think will struggle in the pros, but makes total sense why he'd make the jump. I am interested to see how OSU looks next year with Meyer not around and them having to break in a new QB. I assume they'll still be really good but Fields being able to immediately play last year saved them having to roll with Tathan Martell or an unknown.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:22 PM ^
with Meyer not around and them having to break in a new QB
Isn't this what Day dealt with in his first season as head coach?
January 18th, 2021 at 12:27 PM ^
Ryan Day’s first QB was supposed to have been Tate Martell, before Fields (one of the highest rated QB recruits in recent history) got his immediate eligibility request granted. Where is Martell now?
January 18th, 2021 at 1:59 PM ^
Martell is training in Vegas. I know this because my family is great friends with aunt. Heard some interesting takes about Day. From the onset, martell was never days guy.
January 18th, 2021 at 2:49 PM ^
I mean, Meyer was absolutely around on the team and talked openly of speaking with Day. He was still a mentor. And there's a world of difference "breaking in" a former top QB recruit who did play somewhat at UGa and rolling with Tathan Martell, who transferred to Miami and was immediately told to play WR after being passed by a redshirt frosh at QB and then being suspended in the offseason.
January 18th, 2021 at 1:37 PM ^
OSU will be starting a freshman at QB this fall...
3 candidates...all freshmen.
...a lot of work ahead.
January 18th, 2021 at 2:29 PM ^
and it will be just Michigan's luck that 2 of the 3 will turn out to be fucking rockstars.
January 18th, 2021 at 2:47 PM ^
They're going to be playing behind one of the best O-lines in the country with the best skill players in the country around them and one of the best head coaches calling plays, so yeah, probably.
January 18th, 2021 at 11:16 PM ^
OSU's offense could literally be better next year. The defense is another story though. They lose 4 linebackers and the best CB they had - can't think of his name. Plus I think they lose the defensive tackles who played so well this year. They are going to need the offense to put up a ton of points.
January 18th, 2021 at 3:18 PM ^
You have all of the sympathy I am able to muster after the last 20 years.
January 18th, 2021 at 4:16 PM ^
Speaking of the last 20 years...
...today is the 20th anniversary of Tressel's "...in 310 days..." speech.
Thanks for the reminder! :-)
January 18th, 2021 at 4:33 PM ^
I mean this with all due respect...
January 18th, 2021 at 6:07 PM ^
...taken with all due respect.
See y'all in 313 days. (maybe...darn Covid)
January 18th, 2021 at 4:56 PM ^
Nice try Chuck, recruiting classes look like an easy reload.
RB is the key with your offense. If someone steps up with a 1000 yard season, you take the BIG again.
I'm sure the coaching staff is almost worried.
Not hating anything, but hate the reality.
January 18th, 2021 at 4:58 PM ^
I understand Quinn Ewers to be the real deal. Playing in Texas against elite competition he threw for over 4000 yards with 45 tds. He had another 9 as well as 570 yards rushing.
We are hoping Sarkisian can bring him back to Texas.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
Does Chad Henne have more postseason completions than all Buckeye QBs combined in the last 20 years, or am i forgetting about someone?
January 18th, 2021 at 12:09 PM ^
I saw that with his 66 yards passing yesterday, Henne would check in at #3 on OSU’s all-time NFL post season passing yardage leaders
January 18th, 2021 at 12:31 PM ^
I wonder where his 12 rushing yards puts him.
January 18th, 2021 at 5:06 PM ^
But he has zero wins against OSU : )
January 18th, 2021 at 12:06 PM ^
The window is open, the table is set. We win this year.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
Love your optimism. I'm not sure I can jump on that bandwagon until I see how our offseason plays out with staff, transfers, and the end of the signing period.
GO BLUE!
January 18th, 2021 at 12:47 PM ^
Agree. We really have no reason to be optimistic. Other years we had good reason to be optimistic then had our souls crushed. I am at the point where I won’t believe til it happens. Too much heartbreak otherwise.
January 18th, 2021 at 2:30 PM ^
I try to be optimistic, but the environment is prime for Day to go get some 5* transfer and get him immediately eligible because of racism (even if he is white). And the NCAA will grant it.

January 18th, 2021 at 1:20 PM ^
You're crazy. There's a huge talent differential with the rosters and there's going to be for the next few years. Michigan could win, but the odds are horrible.
January 18th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
The table is set, The Buckeyes are already sitting, and OSU isn't going away.
Just too many 4/5*s waiting their turn. The will have the machine running within a game or two.
Nice to hope for it, but UM is likely 2 years out from giving them a competitive game.
It will happen soon, the younger staff should give this program a wakeup.
January 18th, 2021 at 1:42 PM ^
I love this, I can’t help but think that our new young blood hires will scheme us up to be competitive for the game. Seems like Harbaugh understands that this is deee wey.
January 18th, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
Please Lord. Let some team draft him before the 7th pick. Amen.
