Josh Wallace was superb tonight.

He was a guy every early on, but quickly became a dude for sure. He was awesome in all of our big games!

Josh Wallace and the entire secondary was great tonight. Mikey got a little handsy in the first half, didn't always trust himself. But Josh was always where he needed to be. That defense was so complementary. Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant were outstanding. The whole D-line.
Did you know that this defense gave up fewer points and yards to Washington than Alabama? True. The Huskies totaled 287 yards, 1 yard less than Alabama produced.

Keon Sabb had some huge moments, too. As far as I can remember, he had more big plays today than he's had all season. Some early hiccups, too. But I think he'll grade very well, overall.

Was Quinten Johnson injured? Didn’t see him at all and only spot play from Paige who aside from his boneheaded penalty made some plays too

He was listed as questionable in the injury report. His name doesn't show up in the stats, so it seems likely he didn't play.

Paige got banged up against Alabama, which I'm assuming at least partially explains his limited snaps. He looked plenty healthy though when he made that great tackle near the goal line.
Not sure about QJ; don't recall seeing him at all tonight.

He has Superman playing on the opposite side but I think people underestimated him all year. I know we had some great OL portal guys but where would we be with someone other than him at CB2
January 9th, 2024 at 1:41 AM ^
He really was outstanding tonight. You knew Washington was going to pick on him but he did up to the pressure.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:43 AM ^
Entire defensive backfield was superb - hell, the entire defense was just incredible.
More than anything, I'll remember the tackling. So many would-be big plays thwarted by tenacious tackling.
Beautifully schemed, expertly performed.
What a team!
Go Blue! National Champs!

Our open field tackling was fantastic.
January 9th, 2024 at 8:41 AM ^
Yes, tackling was a thing. Who knew?
January 9th, 2024 at 1:44 AM ^
Michigan fielded one of the greatest defenses in college football history with only 5 top 250 recruits and zero five stars. I don’t know how they did it.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:48 AM ^
And one of their best players, maybe the best, played half of his Michigan career on the offensive side of the ball.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:48 AM ^
I thought Will Johnson was a 5*
but I don’t care about stars and don’t follow recruiting
January 9th, 2024 at 2:04 AM ^
Depends on the service. He was borderline.
January 9th, 2024 at 2:07 AM ^
I don’t remember which it was m, Will was either a 4* composite and 5* in 247 rankings or vice versa. I do think it was the latter and he was a composite 5*.
Your point holds true. 3* Kris Jenkins, 3* (I don’t know how) Kenneth Grant. 3* Michael Barrett. 3* converted WR Sainristil. 3* Rod Moore. Coastal Carolina transfer Josiah Stewart. UMass transfer Josh Wallace.
All glory to Jesse Minter, Steve Clinkscale, Mike Elston, and Jim Harbaugh for their scheme, development and culture.

Kudos to him, he’s played pretty well this season and done a great job opposite Will Johnson.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:52 AM ^
Not to gloat or take too much credit but Michigan is undefeated since I've worn my Free Harbaugh sweatshirt for every game.
You're welcome.

I gave up wearing michigan gear to work every Friday before a game day after the COVID season, and I'm never going back tomy old ways.
I also have an all M themed Christmas tree I typically only put up when its a good year to put me on the mood to celebrate M erry Christmas, but then and after the last 2 years of losses in the playoff, and the no more shirts to work thing, well, i left the tree in the box to see what would happen, and viola
I'm the George Costanza of M fans, they clearly only do well when I don't show off my fandom.
Wearing Michigan Boxers and Socks seems to be OK though :)
January 9th, 2024 at 7:04 AM ^
Michigan is undefeated since I switched from Nike to PFG. I wore Nike for years, but you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results. You’re all welcome.

I ended the Ohio State hex by not wearing maize or blue for the last 3. Silver Woodson Raiders Jersey. Black Zephyr hat Silver M. not even blue jeans or drawers can be worn for The Game.
January 9th, 2024 at 8:56 AM ^
In 2021 I got sick of my in-laws watching me watch The Game, so I went to a random chain sports bar (Big E's) to watch instead. Been watching The Game there ever since. Pretty sure I can never watch The Game anywhere else ever again.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:54 AM ^
Played a great. Good coverage and tackling.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:57 AM ^
I kept freaking out when they were putting him ono-on-one with Odunze. But it never mattered. He was fantastic.
January 9th, 2024 at 7:06 AM ^
He was! I kept telling my son that he’s went from no money to nothing but money. Kid got himself drafted last night.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:59 AM ^
Josh played a huge part in fucking shutting down Penix and his talented husky wideouts.
HAIL!!
January 9th, 2024 at 2:38 AM ^
Everyone on the team down to the last walk-on on the scout team was superb tonight. Commendations for all.
January 9th, 2024 at 7:35 AM ^
Junior Colson stood tall. One hand wrapped, one in a cast, and he looked like he was favoring a leg toward the end of the game. From humble beginnings in a Haitian orphanage to hoisting the trophy.
January 9th, 2024 at 7:56 AM ^
Was an extremely important part of this team.
January 9th, 2024 at 9:24 AM ^
They kept talking about Washington wanting to pick on him at every chance and Wallace was out there like OK bring it!
January 9th, 2024 at 2:16 PM ^
I think he just said, “Bet!”
January 9th, 2024 at 9:44 AM ^
Been hesitant to say this is the greatest Michigan defense ever due to the back end. Felt comfortable saying that with the front which is unbelievably good and deep. Last night what the secondary did as a whole was mind blowing to me. Play after Play after Play when if they don't make one tips momentum the other way! Greatest Defense of all time for Michigan IMHO
January 9th, 2024 at 1:57 PM ^
What a storybook ending for him. Played on probably the worst FBS teams ever assembled at UMass only to cap his career with a prominent role on a national title winning team featuring one of the best defenses in modern history.
January 10th, 2024 at 6:22 PM ^
Amen to that. And fell on a big fumble in the Rose Bowl. What a find
