Doesn't he project at the same position as Ash and Talbott? I haven't read anywhere that any of these 3 could be a large run stuffers in the middle. They all seem to be 3 tech DT's. While I would like anyone on the line, it seems like we have Big Will and no one backing him up.

there does not appear to be a true NT coming in this class. It's not necessarily a problem for this year where UM can still rotate Martin, Campbell and Sagesse at DT and NT, depending on how they go about it and if they stick to this defense. It's 2011 where it's going to be a issue. I'm assuming NT is a priority for the staff in the 2011 recruiting cycle.

Black would be a nice pickup, but I hope we can get a serious true NT next year. I think this class in general is a little down on O and D linemen. Sounds like the coaches feel they have some real good opportunities for next year. After news on the recent junior day sounds like they are targeting some pretty solid olinemen for next year already. Obviously a very vital aspect to our offense as was seen when Molk went out.

I like the defensive linemen we're bringing in, and I think Talbott is going to end up being one of the best players in the entire class, but overall I agree with you. DL would've been a smash if Archie hadn't have interfered with Hankins at the last minute, but there's really no excuse for what happened with OL recruiting. This was a banner year for OL recruits in the midwest, lots of highly regarded guys in our region, and we're coming out with exactly one. One OL in a class - and four in two years - is a recipe for diaster down the road.

I don't think we would still be recruiting Black if he, Talbott, and Ash were all going to play the same position. I think Talbott will end up playing 5-tech DE, and I think Ash might be headed for the same position. Ash supposedly played better when he was around 240, rather than the 260+ that he played at sometimes, so that's why I think he could very well be a DE. Remember, Graham was over 260 lbs. as a DE, and he's short for a defensive end. Our defensive ends aren't all going to be Craig Roh-sized 240 pounders. That strongside DE position is going to be manned by DE/DT tweeners.
