Jay Harbaugh asks for stories showing the power of a Michigan degree
Thought this was a cool move on the part of Jay. It gets alumni involved AND is a recruiting tool.
Looking 2 hear personal stories that show the power of a U〽️ degree! Please share! I will RT the best- recruits need 2 know! #GoBlue

Who has got a good story for Jay?
How is this even a little OT? I'd love to see a bunch of these stories in this thread.
The better question is Why has Brian not contacted Harbaugh about doing this already?
I went from working imigrant parents to stuntin in my middle management corporate job in suburbia all because or my Michigan degree?
Not sure this is showing the power of a Michigan degree.
because I graduated from Michigan and worked at a firm that only hires from top schools (no OSU/ Bama grads) and then got hired in my current position because of Michigan and my prior firm.
Sort of convoluted.
But seriously, for you older people out there, there used to be a large investment bank, DLJ (now part of CSFB) that loved hiring Michigan grads because we were thought to be far more hungry than Ivy league grads.

OK Dr. Linguist, you tell me exactly what "stuntin" means.
Or maybe that's the joke?
I immediately get passed up for jobs by people that have them. How about that, Jay?

As a 3L (past the hiring phase for those familiar with legal hiring), I went into one of the worst legal job markets in history with less than mediocre grades. I ended up at a very good firm and was explicitly told after being hired that I was chosen because I went to Michigan Law. Other candidates, and there were tons of them, had much better grades, but I went to the better school and they hired me based on that (and the fact that I didn't weird them out during the interview process).
Congrats on the job in these terrible times in the legal market. Godspeed.
Go Blue!
FWIW, in some meaningful way I owe most of my post-law school career (in tech/startup stuff) to having gone to Michigan. A professor at Michigan Law introduced me to one of her old students before I came out to Colorado and he just happens to be a partner at a venture capital firm in town. There are so many Michigan folks out in Colorado that it's a massive help professionally.
that isn't cringe worthy? First time for everything I guess.
cringe worthy
A simple Google search may suffice Jay.

No I get it. I just think it's stupid.
A bunch of randos' stories about UM degrees enticing recruits to consider Michigan more on Twitter?
Yeah, awesome! Greatest idea ever!
I disagree. I think it's a perfectly acceptable idea for Twitter. Some of these stories will resonate with recruits and different members of their family and inner circle.

If it does, then kudos. Seems like another superficial tactic employed by Jay that goes on the shelf with his other uhh... interesting... ideas...
You realize he's marketing to hopeful teenagers and not jaded adults right?

@JayHarbaugh I have been told by multiple leaders in my field that they took time to talk to me rite out of school bc of the Michigan name.
@JayHarbaugh wife works at hospital, both got our degrees from and all 3 daughters were born at hospital. Pretty much our life!
@JayHarbaugh I signed with Steve Ross and the Miami Dolphins as UDFA in 2013. He personally called me on draft day. Michigan connection.
^ I love that Kovacs put his story on here as well.
"took time to talk to me rite out of school"
Really, Jay? 'rite' and 'school' only three words away from each other?
Look, I realize that a 140 character format can be restrictive. But this was only 126 characters! You had room! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, PLEASE USE CORRECT GRAMMAR WHEN ACTIVELY REPRESENTING THE INSTITUTE OF HIGHER EDUCATION WE LOVE! Why is this so, so hard?
I realize I'm more up on my grammar high horse than most, but seriously, this kind of thing is embarrasing to Jay, the University, the idea that football players have brains as well as athletic talent... I'm on board with your message, Jay, I really am, but could you please take an extra 5 seconds to reflect before you attack twitter with enthusiasm unknown to mankind?
That's a response to Jay from a MI alum... not a tweet from Jay. So perhaps you need to redirect your outrage.
Um....that wasn't Jay's post. It was another Twitter user.
Also, Twitter is NOT the place to be a stick-in-the-mud when it comes to grammar. Yes, they could have expanded "rite" to "right", but who cares? They probably forgot to edit it after reducing the character count. I've done that before.
If a recruit sees that Tweet and THAT's what sticks out to them, then they missed the point.
you know Jay isn't a Michigan grad, right?
But, Jay didn't go to Michigan.

Proper grammar vs Twitter shorthand: I really don't know which "side" to take on this one.
Spelling and grammar in Jay's tweet look fine 2 me.
In order to prove your point, you could also use proper grammar.
Maybe Jay should ask for some success stories related to nepotism.
Ken Griffey, Jr.
Jim Harbaugh.
Paris Hilton.

I was worried at first about whether Jay was a nepotism hire, but he seems to bring a ton of energy to the table.
If his main function is as a recruiter, I'm fine with that. And it seems to be, considering that he's the primary contact for Rashan Gary (http://247sports.com/Coach/Jay-Harbaugh-3589).
Benjamin Harrison
George W Bush
Mitt Romney
Sam Walton Jr
Moral of the Story: Nepotism pays.

Just my sour grapes for not winning the uterus lottery.
Mission Control for the Space Shuttle
Now doing strategic planning for NASA's exploration programs
MAero G'05
that's pretty badass
I was at FXB from 99-06 :) Might have crossed paths.

now I am a mere janitor at a package delivery company.

Why did you run? Running only makes you look guilty.
I wasn't worried about appearances, Benjy
