Jake Rudock shines for Lions

Submitted by Cali Wolverine on
Nice to see Jake Rudock completed 8-of-11 for 72 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion in his NFL debut with the Detroit Lions. Harbaugh!

I thought he looked real sharp. Some NFL people are saying he can only handle short throws, but those of us that watched the end of last season know better. Seems like once he gets comfortable they'll open up the offense a little more for him in later preseason games.

among the Lion faithful ever since they drafted Jake.

Might I be somewhat correct in my belief that the majority of those doubters where green and white on Saturdays?

the majority of us here were wise enough to trust Harbaugh.  I know I was.

I occasionally go to a Lions board and mostly lurk.  If that place is at all a representative slice of typical Lions fans, an awfully large % of the Rudock naysayers are sparties.

Plus he went in and converted the 2 pt try after the kick return. No time to get in rhythm, just line up and throw the fastball into tight coverage.

I hope this at least means he gets a chance to play against the 2nd team defense to see if he can really challenge Orlovsky for backup spot.

they should have been taking Wolverines all along, through the draft, waivers, any way possible. Its just been within the last five or ten years they have taken one or two Wolverines maybe three, I could be wrong but not by many. I don't watch any more. I do watch where the Michigan players go. New England, Pittsburgh, Eagles, Giants, Redskins, Dolphins, Bears, Green Bay, Buffalo, St Louis, Houstan, San Diego, Seattle, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Oakland. Off the top of my head. It would be laughable if it weren't so damn sad.

Had one excellent scramble as well as a couple other good ones. He looked like he could be a legit backup. A lot of underneath stuff and quick throws, but nothing errant or too aggressive. Almost always putting it right where it needed to be. I was quite impressed.

Dan Orlovsky is 32 years old. He has never gone into a season as a first string QB nor has he made an impact when he's been given a chance on his various stints around the league. What more do the stupid Lions need to see? If Stafford gets hurt, go with the guy who has actual upside.
