Jaden Springer (5 Star Bball) has a good AA visit
Jalen Springer and his family appear to have had a great visit to AA as his mom posted a nice thank you tweet to the staff on Twitter. Not much more to add, but people below had been asking for news with the basketball recruiting weekend. A tweet from a parent always feels like a good start!
Looks like #Michigan made a big impression on five-star SG Jaden Springer following his official visit https://t.co/F4g04d9p0y https://t.co/uorPyZNUEc

But something tells me his visit to Knoxville or Chapel Hill will go jussssst a bit better.
Edited: originally typed Durham and Lexington!
I know it's been mentioned by everyone but basketball is going to be so damn different with Beilein gone. Being able to land a 5-star or a couple big home 4-stars will truly help the transition from Beilein's art of the offensive game to whatever J. Howard is bringing. Obvious statements are obvious but man it'd just be nice to get some of these guys.

Probably several thousand dollars better.

I mean, if the assumption is that Michigan is also paying, then maybe it's several grand. If the assumption is that Michigan isn't paying, then it's going to be many tens of thousands of dollars better.

If this kid likes Michigan and would like to play here, there is no good reason money should hold him back. It's not a real rule anymore and morality doesn't come into play so abiding by it is really senseless.

Would be awfully strange since Kentucky and Duke aren't in his top five.

I don't know, it's kinda fun waiting to find out which 3* Beilien would turn into a 2 and done NBA player.

There is a very small chance Juwan Howard will be as good or better of a coach then John Beilein was at Michigan. It will feel different because we probably (realistically) won't be as good as we have been.

Why do people continue to act like Beilein couldn't recruit??? By insider accounts, Walker Kessler and Jabri Abdur Rahim would be both be committed to Michigan right now if Beilein was still coach
September 3rd, 2019 at 1:59 PM ^
Eh, it's easy to say stuff like that after the fact when there's no chance of it happening. Abdur-Rahim had enough chatter of that nature to make me believe it was very possible but others (Kessler, Loveday) just seem like niceties directed at a stand-up guy who recruited them hard.
September 3rd, 2019 at 2:23 PM ^
Sam Webb flat out said on air that Michigan was the favorite for Walker Kessler if Beilein hadn't left. And Matt D said on this board that JAR was going blue if Beilein hadn't left

Right, the year Beilein leaves he would have started getting a bunch of guys he rarely got previously. Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.
Beilein is a great offensive mind and talent evaluator/devolper. He was a pretty good recruiter, but left a lot to be desired in that area. Juwan Howard recruits like the big boys recruit(minus the large cash bags) and I like that more than Beilein’s approach. I think we start seeing Michigan getting talent that they rarely got under Beilein.

Well if Juwan gets a better or equivalent class to what Beilein would have gotten after 12(?) years and 2 title appearances I would say it would be an argument in favor of Beilein can't recruit (compared to Juwan). If.

But something tells me his visit to Knoxville or Chapel Hill will go ju$$$$$t a bit better.

He officially visited Tennessee months ago. Take three?

Juwan looked so happy on Saturday night.
Gotta be happy for that guy. It really looks like he is living his dream. In a world where "hot and bothered" is the default disposition for college coaches, he actually looks like he would have walked to Ann Arbor for this job. Great to see.
September 3rd, 2019 at 1:03 PM ^
Oh boy, we all know what happened last time a guy would have walked to Ann Arbor for a job.
September 3rd, 2019 at 1:45 PM ^
Yeah but he never would have made it.

It's a good day when I can hear basketball on the court!!!

Howard was in the NBA for 19 years as a player and then as a coach. He doesn't need to walk anywhere unless he wants to.
September 3rd, 2019 at 1:04 PM ^
well, it is Michigan fergodsakes.
September 3rd, 2019 at 1:13 PM ^
Ugh, Brady Hokeism.
September 3rd, 2019 at 1:13 PM ^
We will have to wait and see whether Juwan will wear a headset...
September 3rd, 2019 at 12:56 PM ^
Okay, but can you post some information about how it went? It has been too quiet and we had too much talent in town for it to be so quiet!

Parents said it's a special place. This is remarkable.

I think Beilein's strictness turned off some top talent. He was great for the guys with good but not great talent who wanted to work super-hard on their games and get better. Not so much for the crazy talented guys who wanted some direction but not micro-managing.
I'm not saying his approach wasn't super-successful. It just turns off a certain segment of players. That's why we always ended up with sub-6" point guards and great wing shooters that no one else seemed to heavily recruit. Beilein knew he could turn those guys into major players, and they needed someone to believe in them.
I know Howard won't be as good of a coach. But maybe he can attract some of the top talent that didn't want to follow the Beilein plan.
