It's Thursday, everything sucks. What are you drinking?
Well we can all agree that no football sucks, Covid sucks, it's a damn bummer we aren't going to see some of our players play one more year BUT there's still some tasty alcohol choices to commiserate with.
So what are you drinking and what else sucks that I missed? I'm finishing up work at Modern Times and having a hoppy pilsner humble sea collab called something I don't remember.
August 20th, 2020 at 8:09 PM ^
Well, I can't drink, so I am rolling with a Diet Coke.
Of course, I can only drink so much of that - fluid restrictions are fun too.
August 20th, 2020 at 8:35 PM ^
I work later Tonight, so no alcohol for me. I'm drinking diet pepsi. Not sure what diet pop (soda for some of you) I like the best. Coke, pepsi mt.dew, dr.pepper, root beer, sprite, 7 up, rc cola? When I was a kid in the 70s we always did the pepsi challenge with coke. I think I split 50/50. IMO pepsi is sweeter and coke has more of a acid finish but I like both.

If you don't mind the neurological risks, I would say it's a three horse race, in no particular order:
1. Pepsi Zero Sugar (formerly Pepsi Max)
2. Coke Zero Sugar Cherry (formerly Coke Zero Cherry)
3. Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry
Seriously- I can't overstate the addictive nature of these 3 diet drinks. The only meaningful "value-add" that any of them have over the others, is from Pepsi Zero Sugar: way more caffeine than the others...
No matter what though, cycle through them all every 1-3 months, and you won't be sorry....like I now am for writing a love note to diet sodas on a college football blog.
/s? Unfortunately but unreservedly no, not /s.

PBR hard coffee and eating chocolate chip cookies. It was a crappy day. May have some skrewball next.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:06 PM ^
Screwball was created a few blocks from me at a bar called Ob Noodle House. Cool story bro and all.

The heat here in San Diego

Drinking Sparty tears.

Today is my 40th birthday
To celebrate I'm eating 2 hits of acid and getting real spiritual
August 20th, 2020 at 8:29 PM ^
Happy birthday!
Stay strong!
August 20th, 2020 at 8:32 PM ^
Happy B-Day.
August 20th, 2020 at 8:37 PM ^
Happy Birthday! My Birthday is Tomorrow but I'll be 17 years older. But I still feel young!
August 20th, 2020 at 8:47 PM ^
Let me know how that goes at our age. I used to love hallucinogens but it has been 20 years since I've ridden that train. The wife's doctor is big on shrooms for depression so we've been thinking about getting some.
Also happy birthday.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:24 PM ^
It's been about 5 years since the last time I dosed on acid.
I've eaten mushrooms a couple of times since then.
I think I like it more as a (semi) mature adult. I'm more in tune with my body and the chaos of the universe.
Although I'm having a fit because I'm ready to go but have to wait for the sitter to pick up the kid
August 20th, 2020 at 9:37 PM ^
Happy birthday, and I'd like a trip report as well. I haven't done that stuff since I was young, still get the itch once in a while but feel like I'm just past that stage of life now.
August 20th, 2020 at 10:23 PM ^
I remember that wild wood weed song back when I was a kid, there's a lyric that goes you can take a trip but never leave the farm.
August 21st, 2020 at 1:59 AM ^
Checked in to say that so far I'm in love with everyone
August 20th, 2020 at 9:07 PM ^
Happy trippin. Next 12 hours should be fun.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:18 PM ^
Did you check to,see if mean joe was able to join your party? It seems to be his type of party.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:27 PM ^
No, he's already agreed to come to the barbecue at our place.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:41 PM ^
Happy bday, hope you are well.
August 20th, 2020 at 10:09 PM ^
Happy Birthday! Tripping during these times...Kudos to you sir. Have a safe and enlightening experience.
Not sure I'm grounded enough to go down the rabbit hole these days.
August 20th, 2020 at 8:25 PM ^
At my daughters softball practice currently, so nothing yet but some Jack Daniels when I get home.
Not everything was bad today. Check out this awesome drawing of Steve Bannon’s day at the top of this article
August 20th, 2020 at 8:47 PM ^
The age old saying is that a fool and his money are soon departed. Why would any one send money to a group who say their going to build a private wall along the southern border? Especially if Bannon is involved in such a venture?
August 20th, 2020 at 9:02 PM ^
The whole thing is hilarious on multiple levels. The go fund me with the billion dollar goal, grifting money off people for a wall you told them for two years Mexico would pay for, and the genius Steve Bannon not being able to structure the whole thing in a way that did not get him arrested. He only took 4% of the money. Had he just disclosed in the fine print that there would be management and/or fund raising fees collected he would probably be fine.

Millennial daughter visiting on a beautiful evening. She made Sipsmith VJOP gin and tonics that includes a splash of St Germaine. Add a wedge of lime (plus a couple of olives, which draws a grimace from my daughter) and you have the perfect summer sipper
August 20th, 2020 at 8:30 PM ^
Raspberry Iced Tea currently. Might have an adult beverage here in a while. On call so can’t get too crazy
August 20th, 2020 at 8:31 PM ^
Your perception is your reality. Don't say negative shit out loud and even worse don't write it. Keep that shit in your head and try your best to change your inner dialogue. Look at the bright side...nice recruiting class coming in, two good QB options for next time we play football, no word on McGrone leaving early, and a year of eligibility offered to all. There is good if you look for it.

Hill Farmstead Society & Solitude in the glass.
Spent the last few days in York Beach, Maine floating around and scarfing down Lobster Rolls, so nothing sucks today!
August 20th, 2020 at 8:53 PM ^
Mmmmmm. Maine lobster rolls sound so good!
August 20th, 2020 at 8:35 PM ^
Col EH Taylor. Great replacement when you can’t find other top Bourbon’s.
Time to root for Navy if they have a season!
August 20th, 2020 at 8:45 PM ^
It does just fine all by itself. Eagle rare over here.
August 20th, 2020 at 8:49 PM ^
Agreed. Excellent bourbons.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:32 PM ^
The Colonel is hard to find in MI. Would love to try a little some day. Eagle Rare is readily available here and always in stock at my house. Had a couple Manhattan's yesterday but only a PBR earlier. Hoping to find a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed this weekend ?. Cheers everyone.?
August 20th, 2020 at 8:44 PM ^
Mr. Blue Sky. I only need to get a picture for an ID badge before noon tomorrow so I'm taking it easy.
August 20th, 2020 at 8:48 PM ^
Masthead Haunted Hayride. Pretty tasty.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Sounds interesting.
August 20th, 2020 at 10:52 PM ^
Pumpkin ale. 7.3 ABV. Not everyone's thing, but pretty solid if you like pumpkin beers. I'm good for one or two six packs per fall. Guess you could also call it a squash beer.?

I know it's the NBA, so few people on here care, but the Draft Lottery just happened, and shocker, the Pistons are moving down.
Been in the Draft Lottery 14 times, and have *never* moved up, but have moved down 4 times.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Might be the best draft ever to move down in. There's like 8 or 9 players that could be a possible number 1. Seems like one of those drafts like 2013 when all the all-stars come from random spots 2, 15, and 27. There's a ton of interesting picks in the top 15 and I bet 4 or 5 very high level players come out of it.
Who do you like?
August 20th, 2020 at 8:56 PM ^
Great Notion (PDX) King Size Peanut Brother. 12% stout with chocolate, PB, and vanilla.
Just the face punch I needed today.

Water. I have an ear infection and it put me on my ass. Everything sucks
August 20th, 2020 at 9:13 PM ^
Oktoberfest was at the store so wife got me some even though it seems weird in August.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:36 PM ^
This is when Oktoberfest beers are released. The actual festival is in September I believe.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:45 PM ^
Ok, for some reason it seems early. Maybe because I’m a covid hermit.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Straight whiskey.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Rowan’s Creek bourbon from the Willets distillery. A mighty fine beverage if I do say so myself.
neat of course.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
Eagle Rare, neat.
Also a MI Sooner (born in Okla)
August 20th, 2020 at 9:50 PM ^
Eagles rare is a lovely adult beverage too. It’s about the only Buffalo Trace bourbon you can buy besides the base level buffalo trace.
I was born north of Tulsa in a city just off Rt66. I’m drinking my fine beverage in SE Meechigan.
August 20th, 2020 at 9:20 PM ^
I'm going to have a Frankie Collins, which is a Tom Collins but with a twist and a extra no look splash of Bombay.
