I saw that score and thought it was the start of the game! Lol
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:24 PM ^
20 combined punts.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:37 PM ^
only 16 first downs! Punting - SDSU avg 41.5 to Iowa 47.9 yds/punt. Iowa won it in the air - off the punters foot.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:32 PM ^
Iowa air raid.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
20 punts and only 16 first downs?
Total Kirk Ferentz porn, - only thing that could get him harder is a punt on 4th and 2 from opponent’s 39 yard line
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:33 PM ^
The good new is they found their starting 3rd base man.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:50 PM ^
I thought it was a hockey score.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
This should bode well for Michigan’s trip to Iowa City in October.. but, let’s just go - one play - and one game - at a time.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:05 PM ^
Can you imagine THAT offense versus this defense? Barring a turnover or special teams touchdown, I don't see how they score
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:31 PM ^
Homie - I’m hoping you’re right. Teams will change during the season. In the off-season commentary, I made a few remarks about Iowa’s offense - or lack thereof.
The game at Kinnick is over a month away. My view is - ball security and field position - become even more emphasized - because if Michigan’s D plays like it can - it will be a challenge for Iowa’s to put enough together to sustain scoring drives of 70 or more yards.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:01 PM ^
With safeties and field goals, of course.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:39 PM ^
The Ferentz way.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:06 PM ^
It won't. You know Iowa will play its best game of the season against us.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:27 PM ^
Grit - unfortunately, I agree with you. And, Kinnick isn’t Indy. One game at a time.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:31 PM ^
Today's game was at Kinnick too. I'm not sure Kinnick can overcome that offense. OL was bad, WRs are non-existent, QB is terrible and RBs are meh.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:33 PM ^
Koj, I know and agree. Ball security - no turnovers - ground and pound - that’s the game plan for Kinnick.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:35 PM ^
Following which the Lions will draft one of their players who will turn out to be a monumental bust.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:38 PM ^
That was Quintricia who thought Kirk Ferentz shit didn't stink.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:59 PM ^
Hock is a bit under what you want from the 8 pick- but by no means is he a monumental bust (especially while still on his first contract). They have had plenty of worse first round picks
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
I was entertained by how the commentators were trying to seem excited for SDSU's last drive.
They had passed for like 26 inches the entire game; the chances they would be able to go 80 yards in 30 seconds were less than nil.

September 3rd, 2022 at 4:43 PM ^
Peak Kirk Ferentz football. I'm sure he has spent his career salivating over the idea of winning a game with a field goal and two safties. I'm sure he is so excited Mrs. Ferentz will have her hands full tonight. So to speak.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:49 PM ^
Iowa be iowa
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:50 PM ^
Seven the hard way. Pays double if you had that.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:52 PM ^
Brian Ferentz is what a lot of Michigan fans seem to think (or used to think) Jay Harbaugh is.
I'd love to know what Phil Parker, the Iowa DC, really thinks of his counterpart on the other side of the ball.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Brian Ferentz calls one hell of a game on offense. Which game, we don't know, of course - it's not football, but whatever it is, he must be good at it.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:21 PM ^
Good enough to impress Dad.
September 3rd, 2022 at 6:02 PM ^
I think you meant to say he calls an offensive game.
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:33 PM ^
Underrated
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:00 PM ^
I think Iowa just plays with 2 defenses instead of an offense and a defense.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:01 PM ^
It is so obvious. Apparently I have to break it down for you philistines.
Iowa’s strategery is to bore their opponent to death.
Genius.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:01 PM ^
Us in the stadium were very confused when 5-3 flashed on the screen. I was more confused when I saw it was 7-3 after, a seemingly normal score but realizing it was a second safety
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:02 PM ^
The only longer road to 7 points would be three safeties...and another, single-point, safety.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:10 PM ^
They were running up the score- going for a field goal instead of another safety.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:18 PM ^
Think of it this way: against Iowa, 7-0 is a three-score game
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:25 PM ^
Pope… touché…
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:05 PM ^
Iowa offense= AWEFUL!! We can hope this is a good omen playing in Kinnick on Oct 1st. Let's hope this is the 2022 Iowa offense (PUTRID).
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:06 PM ^
For Iowa.... Punting IS Winning
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:09 PM ^
I was at the B1G championship game in December and I sat 2 rows back from an Iowa fan wearing a t-shirt that said exactly that.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
That's the most Iowa football thing that's happened since their O-line player broke his hand in a freak haybailing accident last summer.

lol they showed him when it was 7-3 right after safety #2 and he was barely happier
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:20 PM ^
And yet somehow they are going to pit Michigan in a dogfight deep into the fourth quarter.
No team in America is better at playing up or down to its competition at home than Iowa is.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:23 PM ^
The same way it was a dog fight in Indianapolis?
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:49 PM ^
Notice how I said Iowa plays up or down to its competition at home. Which they absolutely do.
Indianapolis =/= Iowa City.
If Michigan was playing Iowa in Ann Arbor or at a neutral site, I’d easily say Michigan wins by three scores.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:41 PM ^
Historically? Sure. But man, this offense is just not doing anything. I don't see them having the ceiling to "step up" anywhere near enough. Their D will be tough again, but I think Brian Ferentz is an elaborate prank on the Iowa faithful at this point.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:23 PM ^
Iowa being Iowa.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:02 PM ^
Man, wow. Seeing that score was sickening enough. Then clicking through the game tracker and seeing they didn't even get to 7 by scoring a TD? Hideous.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:10 PM ^
Peak Iowa.
