I’ve Tried To Be Optimistic About The Future But...

You bottom-feeder Trumpers really blow my mind. All that effort wasted on ... Trump?

I never even got to politics with that guy. By that, I mean that his psychological make-up and behavior are so bad that I didn't even get into the details of his positions (which I don't find completely disagreeable). He's unfit for the office of the POTUS.

It's almost like it was developing story in January and the world had bullshit data from China who had covered it up since Thanksgiving.

And of course your last point is absurd. Everyone was ok with the travel ban and the airlines were already imposing their own restrictions, so it was somewhat redundant or in parallel. It's literally the only thing he did remotely proactively.

Well, that's massaging the truth. You can play semantics about a full ban and say US citizens shouldn't have been allowed back in even with screening.

Regardless, the vast majority of flights were canceled, including ones solely for business, and you could only fly on to and from limited cities with screening, which was extremely difficult to do in February because everyone wanted out.

Italy murdered 20,000+ of its own people just to try and sway the U.S. election...

Boris Johnson drove himself to the brink of a coma / ventilator to sway the U.S. election against a "conservative" despite himself being a conservative...

Damn - these people are motivated to try and hurt Trump.

On a serious note, don't argue with these people.  Ideologues/conspiracy theorists on the left and the right always have a ridiculous, nonsensical response to every rational thought.  You can never win because they will just say that there is conspiracy of people tricking you.

I read an article at the end of the web that doctors are being forced by (the Deep State, I guess???) to put COVID on death certificates to drive up the numbers.  Just accept that a certain % of the population needs this type of comfort to live their lives and move on - these people were always out there, we only see and hear them now because of the internet.

Don't ignore them, vote them out - just don't waste your brain cells arguing with them.  And I would say the same thing to left-wing folks obsessed with Bernie.

Anybody who talks about Cuba's medical system being good is either an ideologue, an idiot or most likely both.  I have spent time in Cuba and I can assure you that while they may have some good doctors, the medical infrastructure is a total catastrophe.

Crooked Hillary and the do nothing dems created this virus in the basement of a pizza parlor, and everybody knows it.  She burned down the lab and deleted the emails, but don't worry, because I alone can save you.

I have done the best job, a perfect job really with this hoax virus - all the best people are saying it. It's a big, nasty virus that Obama, Hillary and the Chinese left for me to clean up, but our people are just tremendous, and doing the biggest, best, beautiful job really.  My ratings are huge and I'm rich by the way. I've done a big job, a perfect job really - you know it, I know it, everyone knows it.

Nasty, crooked, third rate Hillary Clinton, a total loser, pathetic.  A 3 at best.  My wife is a 10.

Biggest, best, tremendous job, best deals, big numbers...everybody is saying it.

It’s 5G that is causing the deaths to weakened immune systems (mainly the elderly) that got the Fluzone High-Dose Influenza vaccine. 5G was pushed in part to create this COVID-19 virus. Yes, the numbers are being tainted that are being reported to make the COVID-19 become a pandemic that creates fear globally which effectively is shutting down economies.

Depopulation is being achieved through 5G

I am so god damn tired of all you Trump loving morons who, no matter how disgraceful this guy is, just run out and defend him and blame the media, or the dems.

The guy has a hap hazard economy and common sense ability of a dead mongoose and here you are talking about how great he is and everyone is out to get him.

You know why actual people with a conscience and a brain want him gone? Its because he, not anyone else, is a complete asshole with no idea how to lead a fucking country.  He called this a hoax and then blamed the media for fake news no matter how many videos and recordings there are of him acting like this and here you are regurgitating this because you dont have 1 ounce of a mind to see how fucking stupid you are.

Go ahead, keep voting for him and when he wins and this country completes its flush down the toilet and people keep dying, pat yourself on the back because you didnt fall for the media scam.

You Dumb fuck

Thank you for participating.  This blog appreciates your support.  Now inhale deeply and exhale completely.  I hope you feel better.

Joseph Brodsky advised the graduating class of 1984 that we should go easy on politicians as they have a hard job to do.  Go easy on your parents as they are too close and an easy target.  Ignore self-appointed people that believe it is their job to find fault with all you do.  It was one of the most inspiring messages I have ever received.

You are a horrible poster, the worst really, and everybody knows it-pathetic.  You’ll never make it, failing poster, low ratings.

I’m rich by the way, a stable genius, and do a perfect job- everybody is saying it.  Biggest numbers, best job, tremendous people. You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

Nobody really knows what's going to happen.  Try to find opportunities to make your life better through all of this.  That's really all you can do.

You're healthy and alive, and we'll all remain very human.  Few of us face death or prolonged pain.  This is enough to be very optimistic.

I believe we'll be fine to have gatherings by Fall.  Certainly enough to play games even if they're without fans.  But what the hell do I know.

"Why doesn't the same panic happen with the flu?"

"3 weeks would be fine.  Go back to work."

"Looks like you liberals are rooting for this just to get Trump out of office."

Glad to see you might be coming to the realization that a lot of us have, which is that we don't know what's going to happen but we all have cause for concern and some are rightfully scared.

Maybe don't be an ass next time in the early days of things we don't yet understand.

trying to be contrite

I was unaware that you have taken any responsibility for your comments in the past and addressed a single one.

"I've been trying to stay optimistic but..." is not contrition.

Neither is "I've just accepted this is not going to be pretty."

If you want to be contrite, maybe... you know, do it?

"I was wrong. I regret some of the things I said, especially the times I questioned people's morality or intentions. It was wrong. I hope we can all get through this together."

Give that a shot.

"America and the CoronaVirus saga" is a 3-part play:

(1) The virus on the upsurge, and the concurrent gradual shuttering of the economy.

(2) The debate - likely a vicious debate - on making a plan for going forward.  A plan that weighs (A) the economy vs. the virus, and (B) liberties vs. safety

(3) Someone wins that debate, and then we settle into a "new new normal", and then eventually either a vaccine or herd immunity develops and that mutes the Coronavirus nearly for good.

We're moving from Act 1 to Act 2.  A lot of powerful folks have a vested interest in who wins the debate.  The knives will come out - Act 2 will be vicious and it may be violent.

I think you underestimate how much most people value staying alive and well.  Polls show most people don't think we should "go back to normal" The revolt would be if people tried to push folks out into the marketplace and the virus resurged (which it most likely would)

I think that as the numbers go down you’ll see more and more support for opening things back up.  I would not be surprised to see states that haven’t been hit hard opening up before the end of May.   With warmer weather, they may not see a huge surge,   Under that scenario there will be significant pressure for other states to follow suit.

To the "Revolters"

My response:

"Go right ahead and defy 'stay at home' orders.

But if you or any member of your family contracts the coronavirus, you all should be flatly denied any and all medical assistance.

Deal?"

My father (a physician) taught me a brutal lesson about humanity. As a kid, I once asked him why some patients stubbornly ignore prescriptions and do things that aren't in their best interests.

He replied sadly, "You can't save someone that doesn't want to be saved. You can't help someone that doesn't truly want to be helped. They think they know better."

Here in Ohio we have protesters during the Governor’s daily briefing, claiming that the quarantine is worse than the disease, our Health Director lies about the data, etc. They all want the stay at home order to be lifted, yet they are wearing protective face masks while they protest.
