Hype on Frank Clark. You buy it?
We have heard a lot of hype about Frank. This one is pretty amazing, if true. A 277 pound DE that can run 40 in 4.5 seconds.

Just because you're big and athletic doesn't mean you can play football well. There are probably dozens and dozens of 'freak' athletes riding the pine at various BCS schools because they can't do a swim move, can't catch a football, or can't hit the broad-side of a barn with one of their passes
Be an All-American. Other than that, there is no hype in the linked article.
Potential to be All Conference or an All American is most certainly "hype."
I'll have to jot that down so I can remember it for when someone creates a thread on whether or not people on MGoBlog are buying into all the hype around Clowney.
This aint P.E.
Believe it!!
...Chuck D believes this hype.
Or at least he should.
Meant believe the hype!!
Thought this would fly over everybodies head
Don't think this says much for the hype since he was unblocked, but I'll take any excuse to post this:
I also enjoy Ryan's reaction, looking around like "what just happened?"
Ryan's knows exactly what happened, and he's looking for the ball which just got absorbed into Miller's torso by the force of Clark's hit.
I think he was looking for Miller's dignity which Frank demolished.
the little push at the end like he's trying to flip Miller over and taunt him...love love love. <3
Looks like he was just running to hug Miller then changed his mind at the last second.
LET ME LOVE YOU BRAXTON
If only we won that game... that clip would be immortalized like flipping David Boston backside.
Everytime I watch that, I think the ball is going to pop out....Miller must have some strong hands.
This is addicting...I can't stop watching it. I may just stare at this for the rest of the day.
Unblocked from blindside? At least have to take a swipe down on the football there as you deliver the hit. That's football awareness...always trying to create turnovers. Great players do that instinctively. Look how the ball is exposed right before he makes the tackle.
not to take away from the rest of your point (becasuse it is a very solid one) , but Clark was coming from the front side, Braxton just didn't take his eyes off the receiver.
He just needed to secure the tackle, not mad about it at all! When you try to strip the ball from guys like Braxton, they usually escape and burn you.
Clowney away young man.
Fun little tidbit, my wife is getting into the final weeks of pregnancy, so she's starting to get false contractions (aka Braxton HIcks contractions). We have renamed them "Braxton Millers" and whenever she gets them, I send/show her a clip of this hit to try to momentarily take her mind off of the pain.
Best two words I can think of to describe this!!!
This aint P.E.
Believe it!!
I'm lapping it up like a starved dog.
But I'm a little put off that Gardner used "ridiculous" rather than "ridonkulous".
Kids these days.
then I'd say that's about as good of a endorsement as you can get. "Best OT in college football says I am good; therefore, I am good"
Just having the opportunity to work with someone like Lewan is huge if everything else is there. There is no way to measure what Lewan did for the program by staying the extra year.
The other possibility is that Gardner doesn't know anything about football or performance, and he has been listening to Fred Jackson too often.
While I'm on the subject of #77s:
1995-1998 - Jon Jansen
1999-2003 - Tony Pape
2003-2007 - Chuck Long
2009-2013 - Taylor Lewan
That is a legacy.
How soon we forget. (And now you can't edit. Sorry.)
It is near Pavlovian.
Didn't he play QB for Iowa awhile back?
Ok, I'm off to drown myself now. I can't take it.
I think we'll probably see a set up in production from Clark this year. Seven sacks seems like a possibility. It seems like a lot to think he'll go from rotation player to All Big Ten in one offseason.
He just broke the record for sacks in a season for me on xbox (27 I believe) clearly he's capable of more than 7
OK...now I'm sold.
That's pretty amazing considering I find impossible to get a sack with a DE in that game. I either need to swim move with the DT or hope my LB is unblocked.
I just alternate using down on the right stick and spinning to the outside for leverage he usually blows by for pressure. (Heisman diff btw) The one part I find frustrating is defending the zone read. It locks you into the running back even if you see the pull. QB runs by like a canned animation.
Not sure yet. Seems like he has some issues. His teammates used the word "if" alot when talking about him. He might be one of those guys who doesn't "get" it until he's almost done.
Not yet. Watching some games last year, he didn't seem dynamic in getting around offensive tackles. For the hype to come home, he's got to be a pass rush threat on every 3rd and long.
Hard to believe he improved that much in one offseason.
Put it this way: I'm VERY much looking forward to the reports that get leaked from fall practices.
