How optimistic are you with Harbaugh? Would you trade current standing with any team?

Submitted by DHughes5218 on

With Harbaugh at the helm, I believe our future is brighter than any other college team. I wonder if everyone feels the same? Would you trade places (as in trade coaching staff, current roster, recruits)? Their future becomes ours and ours becomes theirs. Our history remains the same, just the future would change.

I believe Harbaugh will build a dynasty that will rival any other programs and even top Bo's record here. Michigan currently has a top 10 recruiting class and that is without winning a game yet and coming off a 5 - 7 season. We can only imagine what it will be like after a few seasons when we are winning Big Ten titles and competing for a national championships.

Am I crazy or being a homer? I know osu just won the NC and has the #1 ranked class for '16 and '17 and Alabama is going to be good every year with their coach and the way they recruit, but I would still not trade situations with them or any other team. Would you? If so, which team?

Just a tad bit of homer but I feel ya. I just hope people are prepared to wait 3 or even 4 years to be elite. I think Harbaugh can make us like what suburban has done, but it'll take time.

Being 38-3 in the last 3 seasons, Undefeated in one, Nat'l Champs in another, Currently have the most talent on the field in CFB, have a Coach that has won 3 National Championships, has the 2016, 2017 number 1 recruiting classes. Vs. UM A team that's barely a 50% winner over the last 3 years, was its worst 5-7 last season, WILL NOT finish in top ten in recruiting, and has a H.C. That has proved LESS at the college level than Brady Hoke. These are facts! So shut up, this is what you have been, and what you are TODAY and UNTIL YOU PROVE IT on the field that does change. On the field assholes, not on Twitter. So if you wouldn't rather be just about any other team, you a funking idiot.

I love Harbaugh but I'd trade with Bama or Osu.

How could you not?  They both have top notch coaches, great facilities, the best talent and are already winning.  They are what we want to get to.

Alabama was a program that wasn't quite as good as Spurrier's Florida and was then on probation twice.  They were inconsistent, not shitty.

Gene Stallings went 11-1 in '91 (loss to Florida), won a national title a year later (blew out Miami in the Sugar Bowl), went 12-1 in '94 (loss to Florida in SEC title game), and 10-3 in his final year in '96 (with another loss to Florida in the SEC title game).  Mike DuBose won the SEC in '99 (lost to UM in Orange Bowl) and got fired a year later after a 3-8 season caused by sanctions and scholarship reductions, Dennis Franchione went 10-3 and won the SEC west outright in '02 (then left for A&M rather than deal with sanctions), Mike Shula went 10-2 and finished #8 in the country in '05 but got fired a year later just as he was able to sign a full recruiting class.  Saban benefitted from that big class and hit the ground running with an undefeated regular season in year two and a national title in year three.

That's because being tied for 3rd from the BOTTOM (12th) in wins and losses last year is exactly where you belong, it's what you have earned, who you are !! So go Blue, maybe in a few years you will be able to Tie NW for 10th or 11th. But sorry to tell you this, we won't know till you actually play the games.:( And yes, that is required. You can only rank yourself higher without playing the games on UM campus or UM websites, where you are currently the 5-7 SuperDuper Bowl Champions

Would I trade places with another team for the sake of just being able to win now or at least being in a better position to win quickly? No, I don't think so. I am kind of intrigued to see this develop from what it is now to what it could be, and if it means a few years of trying to "get there", if you will, I think that by now that would be part of most expectations in our fanbase. I am interested in this journey, and if it takes a bit of time, I am prepard for it. In the last several years, I think we've learned a few lessons related to this as a fanbase.

I'll be honest: if you could somehow get the OSU stink and dirtiness out of OSU, I'd take that. I think Meyer is a massive hypocrite, but that looks like a plug and play offense with a good defense. With the way college football is set up, you can compete for a title most years with that setup.

There are really only three coaches I think are elite:  Saban, Meyer and Harbaugh.

Saban is in his mid 60's and is probably starting his downward trajectory, so he's out.

Meyer has built a monster in Columbus, but OSU can suck my balls.

So to sum it up, nope, I'm happy with Harbaugh and looking forward to him doing very well over the next two decades of his career.

No, I wouldn't trade Harbaugh for anything. The recruiting question becomes interesting, because while OSU has a better ranked recruiting class, a lot of their recruits wouldn't fit into the schemes Harbaugh is designing. If we could trade the number of players at each star ranking and let Harbaugh pick which ones he wants, then sure. But otherwise, I know it's a bold prediction, but I think when all is said and done Harbaugh (after a year or two) will have more success here than Urban will at OSU.

Common misconception about Urban. OSU actually runs a power offense that emphasizes the run game. Most of OSU's roster would fit just fine with what Harbaugh wants to do, I'd even venture to say the both JT and Cardale would thrive under Harbaugh. Urban definitely leans on the read option much more than Harbaugh, and tends to keep the passing scheme a bit simpler but just as effective with the read option play action.
