Hockey God revenge -or- Karma's a Bitch
So I'm reading the recap of the game tonight on annarbor.com (http://www.annarbor.com/sports/michigan-hockey-team-finishes-off-ccha-s…), and I noticed this little nugget:
"The Spartans converted on three straight chances including twice off the stick of Andrew Rowe, who was forced to take on the lead scoring role after teammate Corey Tropp was forced out of the line-up after stepping awkwardly on a puck during pre-game warm-ups."
Tropp didn't get a chance to play in MSU's biggest game in two years b/c he stepped on a puck during warm-ups and hurt himself. Thank you Hockey Gods, thank you.....
.....or should I say, "well played Brian Cook and the Maize Invaders, well played"
MUUUAAA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA
(lightning crashes in background)
BONUS MGoPoints to any of our esteemed MSPaint-iacs or Photoshop-Pro's who can make a Brian Cook as Dr Evil or Blofeld tossing a puck on the ice in front of Tropp.

We came out firing and put up 2 goals in the first unfortunately to fall behind 3-2. Even though tied up 3-3 in the 2nd we still dominated in puck possession. Then in the third a bounce went our way and we put it home. I would of been EXTREMELY pissed off it they would have cheated us like they did in our previous visit to Munn. Point is we wanted it more and had the momentum basically the entire game. It was neither karma, or the hockey gods it was pure justice.

Corey Tropp, MSU's resident serial killing goat raper, didn't even get to play b/c he tripped on a puck.... in warm-ups!
If that isn't karma for what he did to Kampfer, I don't know what is. Yes, we played better than MSU and deserved to win, but I take a special little joy in that Douchebag Tropp couldn't even take the ice.

And I hope UM makes the NCAA Tournament and kicks MSU's ass AGAIN.

From what I understand, MSU's pairwise ranking is too low to make it into the tourney, so any Spartan humiliating will need to wait for awhile.

if state had beat us, they'd probably be in good position to get an at-large big. WE knocked them out of the tournament. their season is over and it ended with us sweeping them in their home rink. or should i say "home" rink:
SO AWESOME
...after he stepped on the puck he fell into the boards and broke a bone in his neck?

You
______________the line

I'm just saying that would be "karma" in the tit-for-tat sense.

I noticed Tropp injure himself. It happened at may end of the rink - he hit pretty hard half into the boards and half into the ice. I don't want to gloat over his injury even though he is a goon.

Wow. I would never learn the words to the MSU fight song, but that was great.
Tomorrow, I'll be saying to all my Sparty friends, "You guys should sign Rick Comley to a contract extension. I fully support him to remain coach of Michigan State hockey."
awesome!
Wow. Their fight song is really, really stupid.
When your only colors are green and white, you're forced to use the word "fight" about 47 times. What one word makes us think about the Michigan fight song? Hail!, or maybe Victors! Neither of these, if subliminally embedded in the consciousness of a Wolverine athlete would encourage violence toward civilians. For Sparty, though . . .

I long ago learned a different set of words to one part of the fight song - back when Bo never lost to them.
"All across the football field, Sparten teams are folding, they can't win a football game unless both lines are hold-hold-holding; pass or run it's lots of fun, they'll never win the game, cause fight, fight, with all your might, youstill can't win at MSU!!!

Players like Corey Tropp are why fighting exists in the OHL..of course, Corey Tropp wouldn't last 3 shifts in major junior.
From the Notes on MGoBlue.com:
"Michigan has posted consecutive wins in East Lansing for the first time since the calendar year of 1975 (3/1/75 and 12/6/75). U-M is 44-60-8 all-time at Michigan State."
Crazy.
It's great to hear one of those "this hasn't happened since Hoover was in office" stats about Michigan accomplishing something, rather than giving something up! Hoooray!

But Gerry Ford, a good UM grad.
Before the game I was thinking how a loss to Michigan would be the perfect way for Tropp's season, and likely career at MSU, to end. I have to say, a minor injury is far more perfect. Despite what he did I wish him no lasting harm, but getting swept by Michigan and not even getting to play in the second game is just about right.
Well, actually, the perfect way would have been for Tropp to never see the ice again wearing an MSU uniform but, since they have a coach with no integrity, this will have to do.
A theme at MSU: coaches with no integrity.
This should probably be posted more prominently somewhere, but as I do some editing on hockey's Wiki from time to time, a mention here will have to suffice.
A note here: tonight's win was also the 1,500th in program history.

Corey Tropp...ECHL...maybe tops out with a decent career in the AHL. If he truly overachieves he can eke out a checking career in the league. Nice to see the Little Brother done.
I graduated from HS with him...weird...didn't like him them....don't like him now
That was some serious karma from the hockey gods.
I don't care how long it has been. They beat them this weekend the only weekend that matters. Way to go guys. GO BLUE all the way to the NCAA tournament.

After 15 years of watching UM Hockey at Yost, I FINALLY took a road trip to MSU for Friday's game. I recommend that every UM fan make the trip once. The place was empty and crowd anemic (as has been mentioned previously), but even at its finest green-and-white hour, I think the overall crappiness of the hockey environment at Munn would make us all appreciate Yost and our own program much more. GO BLUE.

Do we have a karma turn here after OSU used up the last little bit of the negative karma surrounding us by having Turner hit that shot? Better things started happening later the same day with Michigan hockey team......We have finally appeased the sports Gods!!!!! Bo must have walked out of the tv lounge in heaven and turned to God and said, "Lord, that is enough!"
GO BLUE!
I've heard of Bo, he didn't "said" so much as scream. I can definitely picture Bo gettin' all up in God's grill, angrily. I can also definitely see Bo winning that argument, Bo was pretty horrible at losing.
