Herbie really has it out for us

Submitted by DenverRob on

kirk herbie i guess really does not like our chances tomorrow. On CFB live his impact player is toddman from uconn.  his upset alert is Michigan. also says that uconn has the one of the most balanced offenses in the country.

he did pick uconn towin the BE, but he didnt seem all that impressed with M either

He's payed for his opinion, which is usually pretty good. Herbstreit has been more supportive towards us than I thought he would be. Although he doesn't seem biased, I beleive he subconciously is, from the concussion we gave him.

I know he's an easy target, but the guy has always been pretty fair. I remember he was the main guy rallying for UofM to be in the 06 NC game.

He's been against us all week.  All I've heard him talk about this year is how bad we're going to be and how UConn and ND is going to put it to us.  But then of course he salivates over TUOS picking them for the title game even if they lose to Miami.  Talk about one of the worst homers ever.  I don't know how Desmond can stand being on set with him somtimes.

OSU is ranked second, has a lot of experience, etc... Is he suppose to ignore that merely because he want to osu. .....Rag on Herbie for all his other issues, but his attitude toward Michigan has been fair.

Of course, others rag on Desmond cause he picks against Michigan instead of being a "homer."

all the game from about 30,000 feet, never venturing to the treetops, like Brian does about Michigan. For example, he said "all of uconn's wr are back" as part of his prose. In fact, they are not. Their top two left, and the returning guy snared 22 balls last year. What is laughable is that he thinks the following is some how profound "michigan fans better not take Uconn lightly, this isn't some mac school coming in here....this is a good team"  Duhhhh....like we havent talked about them, ad nausem, since Jan freakin one!  Clearly, Espn's headquarters proximity to Uconn is part of this as well........

So if the Ohio State guy picks against us, it's because he's biased, and if the Michigan guy picks against us, it's because he doesn't follow the team.  This is a tremendous universe you've created for yourself there, where every action reinforces whatever you already believe.

I'm not sure he "really has it out for us" as much as he's, you know, seen the product on the field the last two years and doesn't fancy our chances against a veteran BCS team with conference title hopes.

Can't really say I blame the guy.

...  Their opinions are worth nothing now, worth little ever.  The next time the sun rises will be the beginning of a new season for Michigan Football... and I believe our ship is coming in boys.

Everyone is wrong when they think Michigan is going to lose.

Everyone is right when they choose Michigan to win.  Lou Holtz is right for once, and Herbie is dead wrong.

This simply can't be true.  Kirk Herbstreit is a seasoned and unbiased member of the  College Football crew at ESPN, the most non-objective leader of non-partisan sports coverage in America.  How could Honest Kirk ever possibly say or imply anything because it favors his own personal allegiances and agenda?????

In other news, I hear that Jim Tressel actually sleeps between Kirk and his wife at night.

Herbie is like most national pundits, and even local ones. They don't know what to make of Michigan. These experts don't want to stick their necks out on an unknown.

Michigan beats UCONN and ND, the talking heads will be forced to give Michigan their due, even Herbie... at least until league play starts. Then it will be how poor Michigan, is about to get manhandled by all the big bad boogie men of the B10.

an OSU mouthpiece along with Robert Smith.  Herbie has become less and less accurate and reliable in his reporting on Michigan in recent years.

Starting with "Breaston brings nothing to the table "(in the middle of the hype leading to the biggest M v OSU showdown in decades), to Les Miles will be the next Michigan head coach.

Tressel is in his ear, and his comments about Michigan simply should not be accepted with anything but skepticism and maybe a little paranoia.

No big surprise here, before we beat Indiana last year he had us pegged for a new years day bowl..  Now he thinks we are terrible pretty much for what we did last year.  Now we just have to prove them wrong.  Hopefully the team does that tomorrow.

Herbie is entitled to make an honest pick but I think he has been piling on Michigan more than usual this week.  He may just REALLY like UConn's football team (picked to win conference, Toddman breakout player, upset win over Michigan).  Or, he may just be following the local Columbus rhetoric which seems to be louder this season than it has before the past two.

The bush league Columbus radio shows have spent an unusual amount of time talking about how terrible Michigan will be this year, how Rodiriguez is sure to be fired in November, etc. etc.  Today they laughed at our "marriage to the 3-3-5 defense".  Almost makes me think they know we're close to turning the corner.

i can't believe it!  an ESPN guy picked against us!??!?!  Oh the humanity!!!!  Whatever shall we do?!?!??!?!?

Who gives a rats ass?  Go out and win the fucking game...Herbie is actually among the better talking heads, but that ain't saying much.  Holth sounds like he escaped from the loony bin at this point, and May is a cipher.  Their all pretty much worthless...so who cares?  We won't know what we've got or what UConn's got till around 6:30pm EST.  Until then lets focus on the important things like getting ready for tailgates and watching parties and making sure the beer is cold and the queso is spicy :)

oh, and i know these things tend to be a flavor of the week kind of deal where you like him or hate him depending on who he picks (which is pretty retarded) - but Herbie will always be okay in my book for one of the all time great commentaries during a game:

"And that is why you are Michigan State" - after one of many collossal chokes (ND?)
