But then, as always happens with that offense, as the field got smaller the advantage goes away and you punt.  Disgruntled Lions fan since 71.

to show some very good team D and some missed assignments. Stribling had the TD but I am not sold on his ability to stick with smaller, faster WRs. Also worried about Mone's ankle and whether Taco has a high ankle sprain. That's a short list of worries, Go Blue.

Just my personal opinion, the first game everyone plays a little tight, thinking more than just playing. Also the defense is adjusting to a new system. This staff will correct deficiencies and adjust. And the most improvement happens between game one and two, so next week we should see a more relaxed and efficient defense.

He scored more points than Hawaii. A few completions against you does not equal struggle. No one beat him deep. He didn't have any flags. He didn't blow a run fit and allow a big gain. Sometimes the other QB throws the ball and the other WR catches it, and that's kind of all there is to say about it.

Seemed like Gedeon played well, made a great play on the blitz and otherwise wasn't noticeable which is what you want out of MLB.

And wow, I was super impressed with McCray.  Was all over the field making plays. Yes, he got caught in coverage a couple times but Hawai'i runs a unique run n shoot that can put the Will in those spots.  I don't see many other teams being able to exploit him in coverage, with our nickels and Peppers at SAM.

Highly encouraging from a position with a question mark.

today against a team that just put 31 up on Cal.  Yes I know Cal is not Michigan, and many want to put them down, but they are a mid tier team in a power 5 conference, to paraphrase Dierdorf.  The D gave up a 55 yd field goal in 4th Quarter, when a lot of 2nd and 3rd teamers and 6 freshman were on the field.    Completely shut Hawaii down after the early pick to Michigan 37 yd. line, Plus we played nearly the whole roster.

Offense was great after first series.  No punts.  Again, much of the roster played and Evans and McDoom were fantastic.  So much to like.  I hope we are as focused the next two weeks before the Big 10 season starts.   Great day for M football.  Just hope we are as focused the next week, then the week after before the Big 10 season starts. Fingers crossed on Mone and Charlton. Go Blue !!

They got decent pressure, but did not finish well in the backfield and did a poor job containing QB scrambles. Boffo against the run, though. Gedeon and McCray were all over the ball today, and not just on plays where the Dline slipped up, which was probably the most encouraging thing all day.

At least three times I saw completions to a Hawaii receiver that Peppers was two steps behind. I'm a bit concerned about his ability to drop into coverage. The dude sheds blocks like mad at the line of scrimmage, but pass protection looked like a weak spot today.

63-3 is how these games are supposed to go. Hail!

Not too concerned yet about the spread defense yet. Having a linebacker threaten those short slants will be possible. But that will take some teaching and repetition. Even so, Hawaii made it to extreme NFL scoring range. Not sure what the percentage of 55 yard fg attempts are good, but am guessing that defense was good enough to prevent scores more than half the time.
