My guess is Clink/Elston as pass/run co-DC. They have been coaching this defense just about as long as anyone they could get from the Ravens anyway.
with Elston’s promotion, maybe they can add his recruiting coordinator role for Jay, along with TE/ST, and justify a nice pay bump to keep him?

Greg Roman may be on the hot seat. Maybe keep the Baltimore pipeline going?

This is absolutely true. No…

This is absolutely true. No way he is qualified to be an NFL coach and should probably just stay in Ann Arbor for the rest if his coaching career!

/s, but please stay anyway!

I really hope Harbaugh just…

I really hope Harbaugh just told investigators to Fuck Off. Well worth a couple game suspension. And if we ever get his exact quote, it would make a great t-shirt. Hopefully, Warde will do the same.

He is rehabbing in LA, so it…

He is rehabbing in LA, so it’s not like he is just there to hang out. Not sure if that gets him out of potential class somehow or not though. Maybe not a definate sign he is gone though, hopefully!

I also read Olu arrived in a walking boot. This was news to me and would be a huge loss. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I couldnt find it mentioned anywhere else for it being such a big potential loss.

I didn’t know you were…

I didn’t know you were friends with Zach Wilson!

Adding the current crystal…

Adding the current crystal ball’d players to the class would put Michigan just inside the top 10 recruiting classes, based on 247. So, despite another slow start, they would be right at where they typically fall. Throw in a couple 5* possibilities and the typical top 5-7 class is fairly doable. Not where we all had hoped after last season’s momentum, but a top 7 class with some “risers” is still a strong class.

I get the reason for…

I get the reason for rotating, especially when MSU was running so well, but after getting caught on it once or twice, you have to adjust. Teams consistently call timeout on offense to save a 5 yd delay penalty. So why are they so hesitant to call a timeout on defense to actuall get 11 men set and not give up a potential TD. Thats the part I cant grasp!

Is Kris Jenkins being in the…

Is Kris Jenkins being in the rotation a surprise? I thought he was still only listed at 265 or so? That would be a nice addition, if he is closer to 300, for depth. I known it is the usual pre-season hype, but im feeling better about the defense

I thought the exact same…

I thought the exact same thing when I saw LSU. It’s so second nature to them by now that they might forget he is Juwan’s kid and offer him a bag anyway

Sebastian Cheeks committed…

Sebastian Cheeks committed to UNC today, so Patton is a big need. Looks like TX may miss out on both after being in the top 2-3 for both. Hopefully the SEC move they make doesnt swing Patton in their direction later on.

Not exactly wing related,…

Not exactly wing related, but Felix Okpara just committed to OSU. Too 50 center, but hopefully means Reid is headed to Michigan, since OSU was the main competition. Interested to see what MattEM thinks of Okpara compared to Reid?

But how will college…

But how will college athletics survive without the well planned, well coordinated, well implemented standardized governance that helped a COVID season go so smoothly while closely monitoring every program for any possible unfair recruiting methods?

I doubt conference presidents will be any more competent, but at least we are close to eliminating 1 cartel from the system.

I also think the new…

I also think the new defensive scheme has caused more re-shuffling of the board than usual. Nua and staff are having to build new relationships to fit the new scheme, while also having to give the firm handshake to those like Schwartz that may no longer be a fit. Having said that, it does seem the Coach Osborne’s name gets mentioned a whole lot more than Nua by d-line recruits, so Nua’s eventual replacement may already be on staff.

You may want to edit those 3 up arrows for Mani Powell. He just committed to Arkansas.

I found it interesting that…

I found it interesting that his excuse was that he doesnt have as much time to practice in the NFL as he did in college. And here I thought the NCAA limited practice/stretching time? I guess not in Columbus.

This raises a point that I…

This raises a point that I am hoping Courtney Morgan can finally stabilize. It seems like every year Michigan will completely ignore 1 position group and over recruit another. Sign 5 safeties 1 year and 0 DTs, then sign 5 LBs and only 1 CB. They need a much more consistent recruiting strategy as the iver recruited areas end up transferring for PT and the under recruited groups leave us the current DT/CB holes. Improving this could go a long way in improving several issues.

edit: replied to the wrong comment, but the point still stands

Duval Paul from Georgetown…

Duval Paul from Georgetown is intriguing as well. 2 time all-conference and could be a rotational/depth guy with a step up in competition.

I have a similar pipe-dream of Sean Payton wanting to start fresh after Brees retires and the Saints go back to being the Aints. One can dream, right?

Winner gets to coach…

Winner gets to coach Michigan? Im sure it was covered in the many coaching change threads, but Allen would be a good hire and would finally bring Mike Hart home.Give Gattis a raise to stay with the savings and fire everyone else.

If Harbaugh somehow pulls it off, maybe it leads to a turn around and buys him an extra year. I’d be happy with either.

I’m wondering if Harbaugh…

I’m wondering if Harbaugh knew how big last week’s game was and was more involved in the offensive game plan/play calls than he was in week 1? Just seems like too big of difference from week to week.

Also, I think the problems on defense are mostly recruiting-related and the problems on offense are coaching-related. We have talent on offense, but always seem to underperform that talent. Defense is just doing what they can with inferior talent, which is shutdown less talented teams and get waxed by teams with equal/better talent.

Sam also said he likes…

Sam also said he likes Michigan’s chances with D. Edwards after spending time with him this week. Things are looking good!

I never said that racism…

I never said that racism/police brutality/abuse of power dont exist. They obviously do. What I said was that I didnt really see this video as an example of that. What I did see were kids conditioned to fear for their lives before the cop even approached the car, which is also something that should be addressed and improved.

I’ll take my negs, as I knew I would, but save the outrage for the George Floyd/Daniel Shavers tragedies, not every traffic stop that involves an asshole cop.

I agree. Cop was a bit of an…

I agree. Cop was a bit of an asshole, but many are. That doesnt make him racist. The only reason they had to fear for their life was the media’s constant portrayal of black youth having a target on their back to the point that black kids are truly scared in normal interactions. My guess is he had them get out of the car to keep them out if trouble, if they had anything on them. That is why he asked them to step out, only after he asked if they played for U of M (Xavier Simpson-style).

Unpopular opinion these days, but that doesnt make it any less true. Look up Daniel Shavers, if you want to see a true cop execution. He was white though so the media didnt touch it.

For all the concern over DT,…

For all the concern over DT, if Kemp comes back, things look good there. Looking at that list of both end positions, is what is concerning me (along with Corner). Really hoping some new blood to step up here or I see about 2-3 real players for BOTH end positions. Thanks for the recruiting middle finger on your way out Mattison!

Next year may be the year when the Offense actually needs to carry the team, especially early in the season.

I love the Giordano’s deep…

I love the Giordano’s deep dish pizza ad I see in the middle of this thread. Perfect product placement.

Most athletes lack the discipline to stay in shape when they no longer have the structure of practice/workouts/etc. Combine a slowing metabolism with age and the continued diet when you are no longer burning the extra 1000s of calories per day and you get real big real quick. You see it everyday at your own job. People go from active college student to sitting at a desk all day and the pounds add up quick. Not just an NFL issue.

Here's a quick summary of…

Here's a quick summary of some 247 interest

Agreed. Love Don Brown as…

Agreed. Love Don Brown as well, but for the love of god can throw in an occassional zone coverage on 3rd and long so I dont have to see another QB run for 20 yards while our DBs are all running in coverage with their backs to the play again! This lost the game against OSU last year and I dont see it being any different this year.

Not to start the rumor, BUT…

Not to start the rumor, BUT I wonder if Peters has the same “injury” that Sugar Shane had? The we will play you if we need you, but otherwise give you an extra year of eligibility when you tranfer out, type injury.

A late friday afternoon…

A late friday afternoon press conference to reach a quick conclusion before practices begin would make sense, timing-wise. Still think he weasels his way into a just a 3-4 game suspension though.

Nothing groundbreaking, but…

Nothing groundbreaking, but TheWolverineWire (https://wolverineswire.com/2018/07/29/how-jim-harbaugh-changed-mike-morris-perception-of-him-and-michigan-at-the-bbq/) has some updates and BBQ reactions, including the hilarious quote by FSU soft commit DE Mike Morris, “The reporters always say Harbaugh is some douchebag but actually, he’s an amazing dude.”

I’ve seen this site mentioned a few times here lately and it is quickly becoming my go-to for actual football content.

I’m hoping this is Harbaugh

I’m hoping this is Harbaugh ramping up his “meritocracy”. If Drevno doesnt get results, Wariner is waiting to replace him. If Pep continues to suck, McElwain will take over. If not, both will probably move on with promotions elsewhere. Either way, Michigan is going to keep the 2 that show the most results. Hopefully!

Wasnt Urban’s name mud in FL,

Wasnt Urban’s name mud in FL, too, after the way he left? Mc may not be popular with UF fans, but I would think he still has some food connections with HS coaches that will help Michigan get a foot in the door and make a case. Hopefully!

Not likely

Pep fans are about as rare in Indy as they are in Ann Arbor right kow.

Possibly

I thought the same thing when news that Emmert and the NCAA was notified several years ago. I would think the logical chain of command would be complaints to the university, then the conference, then the NCAA.

And I’m an idiot...

Its not Marshall. It’s a DT from Delaware that is also #93. The helmet didnt quite look right, but I figured it was because it is a “bowl” game. Sigh of relief that I am just an idiot, sorry for alarming anyone.

Unrelated: Lawrence Marshall gone?

It looks like Lawrence Marshall is playing in the East/West Shrine game. He is not in the roster online, so maybe a late addition. This may answer some of the scholarship number concerns, but add to the lack of DT concerns after missing on Friday.

I dont remember seeing anything in the board about this.

Meaning

I heard from an old military buddy this morning that they shot down a missile off the coast of HI and their base was in lockdown. This was before the lame media excuse of an error. Im not saying this as fact, just what he said well before the media spin.

Haven’t you heard? We are

Haven’t you heard? We are Michigan fans, toughness is not our kinda thing.

I hope he got to sit down

I hope he got to sit down with Professor “Needs a raise” on his visit!

Amen!

Especially against running QB’s! It is so frustrating watching Barrett run for 15 yards on every 3rd and long because the entire secondary has their backs to him covering a receiver when the QB is already beyond the line of scrimmage.
