Cowherd did not coach in the NFL - but I like the sentiment. Harbaugh is massively under-appreciated.
September 8th, 2022 at 9:00 AM ^
I like this winning at all levels making one a genius. Mainly because it also implies that Saban and Meyer aren't genius.
September 8th, 2022 at 9:37 AM ^
Harbaugh gets clowned on by the public because he's a goof and a lightning rod, but very very very few guys can say they were legitimately great coaches in both college and the NFL.
September 8th, 2022 at 10:09 AM ^
Pete Carroll comes to mind. Jimmy Johnson as well. To your point, there aren't many.
September 8th, 2022 at 1:13 PM ^
How did Barry Switzer not make this list?
/s
Jimmy Johnson may be the best coach I've ever seen. What he built at Miami was amazing and the program had success long after he left. He then did the same thing with the Cowboys, in essence starting from scratch, and left behind a team even Barry Switzer could win a Super Bowl with.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:40 PM ^
Cowherd is certainly no genius, but I didn't know Cowherd coached...
September 7th, 2022 at 9:41 PM ^
He herded but didn't coach.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:43 PM ^
Poor effort. Thumbs down, 2/10 would not recommend.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:43 PM ^
Did not. Audio? Video? Link?
Without much context seems a rather vanilla take to say a guy with lots of coaching success is a genius or good at what he does.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
42080, Harbaugh’s start as a head coach in the NFL was as good as any coach ever..

Here's the video, comrades.

From the comments:
A noon non-conference game with a 30 point spread is the 4th most-watched game of the weekend. Michigan is different.

That is an amazing stat. Wow.

Colorado State can really pull in viewers!

Cowherd is a reactionary blowhard, who thinks he is a genius for being slightly counter to norm or edgy. I used to listen to him before I found better podcasts, and he spent years blasting Harbaugh. I guess now that Michigan won the Big Ten and beat OSU, Cowherd changed his opinion.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
Cowherd on Cowherd?
Sounds obscene.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
Makes sense.
Colin is arrogant/tone deaf enough to love himself some Colin.
September 7th, 2022 at 9:43 PM ^
Not obscene but beautiful in Brokeback Mountain.
(Not to name-drop but I know the director. See, I didn't drop his name.)
September 8th, 2022 at 9:04 AM ^
Wouldn't two cow herds going at it be considered an orji?
September 8th, 2022 at 9:23 AM ^
I think the cutoff is three or more.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:52 PM ^
Well, it's out of the barn now. He's a stable genius.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:54 PM ^
Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Cowherd pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
September 7th, 2022 at 9:11 PM ^
Thank you, Simone.

Such an underrated, classic movie.

It is a classic, but I'm not sure that Ferris Bueller can be considered underrated. It is known to literally everyone from multiple generations.

Cant stand him

Mathew Broderick?

Ferris Bueller?
September 7th, 2022 at 8:58 PM ^
Excuse my mistake. Cowherd makes the arguement that Harbaugh is a coaching genius due to his success at multiple levels of football, college and NFL.
September 7th, 2022 at 9:32 PM ^
Ooohhh, that’s what you meant. And to think all the sarcasm is now wasted.
September 7th, 2022 at 9:45 PM ^
Every time an irony is wasted, an angel says, "Oh, sure, THAT makes a lot of sense."
September 7th, 2022 at 9:32 PM ^
Oh my, so that's what you meant to say, I would have never figured it out. Thanks for the assist.

Accept your hazing and welcome to the team. Every poster on this board -- except me, of course -- has posted something that went over like a fart on an elevator.
September 7th, 2022 at 8:59 PM ^
I didn't and don't watch him.
Assuming you didn't actually mean to type that circular sentence, remember that Cowherd and Coach have an "interesting" history of mutual dislike going back quite a few years plus Cowherd needs to opine to get paid. Perhaps he's trying to make amends for prior frictions with Jim.
And Cowherd isn't qualified to carry water for JH.
September 7th, 2022 at 9:32 PM ^
I remember a pretty strange interview in Harbaugh's first year in 2015. Did their mutual dislike exist before that interview? I just remember Harbaugh didn't seem like he wanted to talk to Cowherd at all.
September 7th, 2022 at 9:49 PM ^
I honestly don't recall anything prior to that July 2015 falied interview. It was awkward as hell with Cowherd cutting it short because Jim wouldn't answer in a way that played into Cowherd's style.
September 7th, 2022 at 9:36 PM ^
They had an awkward interview, Jim is awkward. It made for a bad tv moment. Cowherd loves Harbaugh. Even dressed up as Harbaugh for Halloween and I believe they patched things up. Not that Harbaugh has any use for media personalities in general. But mutual dislike is a stretch. Cowherds been pretty successful for all the hate he gets
September 7th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
Being "successful" for being an inflammatory talking head? You might, or might not, want to review the man's history of troubling comments before you express admiration of any kind for anything about him.
I have zero respect for the guy, regardless of his ability to create an audience by talking crap.
September 7th, 2022 at 10:55 PM ^
Cowherd asked Jim if Michigan was now a "buy" as in buy or sell, but the coach thought he meant a "bye" as in an easy win. Just a miscommunication.
September 7th, 2022 at 11:02 PM ^
I think it was about the Big Ten being a "buy" not Michigan. But yes. It was awkward listening to it live and knowing what the miscommunication was, but neither Harbaugh nor Cowherd picked up on it. Cowherd has had many positive things to say about Michigan and coach Harbaugh in recent years and it's quite possible they've since settled the miscommunication behind the scenes.

September 7th, 2022 at 9:09 PM ^
He doesn't actually believe this. He said it for a good sound bite and clicks and interaction on social media
September 8th, 2022 at 10:30 AM ^
He told you this last night?
September 7th, 2022 at 9:11 PM ^
As they say, “Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.”
This may be the first time Cowherd as ever stated somewhere that is accurate.
And, for reference - though I haven’t researched this - Michigan might have had the “lowest ranked roster” - from a talent perspective - to ever make the playoff.
It’s not a surprise to anyone - talent makes a difference. Who are the college teams with the most talented rosters… to no surprise - Alabama, the Bucks, Georgia, and Clemson.
There have been three things that Harbaugh / Michigan needed to overcome the hurdle down in Columbus. One, a decent OL. Two, a QB that could lead the O and not turn the ball over a lot. And, three - a defensive secondary that could play effective zone coverage. It does seem like the foundation is there.
And - if the B1G actually had decent officiating - that hurdle in Columbus would have been crossed several years ago.
September 7th, 2022 at 9:26 PM ^
Depends on what we're talking about in terms of talent, but Cincy last year has to be less talented. Would guess that MSU team that made it was as well, but Jim certainly has done well with what he has had in my opinion when looking at team talent composite and SP+ final ranking.

As they say, “Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.”
Said every squirrel in Columbus.
