He may be a homer (Michigan grad) but this is priceless:

Harbaugh’s actions come from the Prefrontal cortex (thinking part of the brain), and sadly, the SEC’s response is subcortical and comes from the old mammal brain, which is easily sustained with brief neurochemical rewards like winning a football game, without thinking or truly caring about the athletes involved, and the big picture - preparing an individual to thrive in society.

Harbaugh = Thinking brain

SEC = Old mammal brains

Was dominate during the 42-13 ass whoopin OSU put on UM's genius coach in his own house ? Urban busted down crazy Jims door, ate all the food, banged his wife, beat his kids, shit on the kitchen table and then smacked Jimmy in the mouth. I guess one mans genius is the rest of the conferences village idiot. But just like when Hoke was coach, you guys keep telling yourselves how great you are, it's glorious.

I like the article, but I think there is a point that it did not bring up. These SEC people think this way, not necessarily because they CAN'T reason (we don't have evidence one way or the other lol), but because they are in an environment which has very clearly delivered the message that winning is everything. No matter how. No matter who gets sacrificed. No matter what self serving rules they pass. And any rule breaking will be ignored. No wonder they operate the way they do. This is the human brain adapting to its environment. They may be fools, but it makes sense.

I love the article.

But I don't love the author's takes in the comments.  He seems to be brushing aside the CTE issue by saying only real men can play football.  When it seems the alpha-males he is referencing are probably those most likely in danget because of a greater tendency to play with abandon and ignore pain/injuries. His line of thinking seems a little stuck in the past, just being a tougher dude doesn't make you more immune to brain trauma.

All of their findings coincide with the stereotypes I have about people I disagree with.

example: I'm almost positive that most RCMB members' thinking is heavily influenced by their amygdalas instead of their cerebral cortexes. In essence, anger over critical thinking.

... I do have a feeling that Psychology in general is turning me into an arrogant ass.

I was just thinking about my brain and specifically my ventral tegmental area and how stimulated it would be by a cool trip to Florida!
