This time next week, I'll be in the Metroplex ready to watch some Michigan football!  Go Blue!  Swilling some pale ale.

this metroplex of which you speak, but by this time next week I will.  I leave Thursday morning via beautiful I-65 through Memphis to Little Rock through the Southeast corner of Oklahoma (so I can say I have been there) and on to Dallas.

in the 90 degree heat, banging beers and alternating between fly patterns, curl-ins, and swimming with the boy.

Jeezus, I hope there are no expectations from the wife when she gets home.

Go Blue - can't wait.

Wifey's having me try out some tailgate recipes tonight; buffalo chicken balls and bacon jalapeno poppers. Might need to find some oberon before I get in too deep. Whens the last time we had a recipe thread?

Shots of Kah (Blanco ...the white skull) followed by Sam Adams  - Summer Ale.  Aaaahh!

Going to watch the team practice tomorrow.  I'm really looking forward to that!  The season is upon us and I'll drink to that!

Go Blue!

I moved a small TV out to the porch so I could watch the Tigers game outside while sipping on some Midas Touch - actually haven't had this one before, but it isn't bad really. If my last  glass is any indication, it also serves for catching the odd mosquito.

I've learned to cherish this time of year.  Though it's in a way torturous anticipating the close-ness that football is, once the season starts it's such an up and down rollercoaster.  The highs after winning are amazing, the lows after losing are unaturally depressing.  Mondays after the weekends are back to torturous as more football is craved (no, MNF does not feed that appetite); even if it was a huge win, it's torture waiting another week and sometimes two weeks.  And as much as I love Autumn, I'm a summer guy.  I love the first part of the Fall but once it gets cold it means Winter is near (which is okay, I don't hate winters, but, you know) and that's a little disheartening.  Late-summer baseball gets interesting and is a time when I head to some games; always great going to ballparks (following the Bravos in the Midwest somewhere).   As a terrible segueway and odd transitional statement, I do know and realize the pre-season football shows and media presentations are terrible anymore.

But.. that month to one-week-away from football feeling at the end of summer is great time for me as I've gotten "older".  It's a great time to sit back and realize life is good.  I used to think and still do at times think, "life will be even better when football starts..", but the reflection period before and the climax of anticipation (am I writing for 50 Shades of Grey?) is a great time.  Again, it's a good feeling realizing life is, just, good.
