citing the ever-popular need to spend more time with the family and adding a twist— needing to focus on his faith.

He was either caught up in the massage parlor sting or he started working for Hoodie and realized it's a 24/7/365 job (even during the off season) and wasn't going to see his family  period and noped the hell out of there before OTAs and minicamps and the actual season started

"taking time away from the game to recalibrate my priorities."

He was already out of coaching for a few years before taking the OSU job.

Maybe something will drop to show he was forced out.  Maybe there's a personality conflict. There were rumors his self-described best friend Urban was going to push him out before Day actually did.  It's curious though. That was the best job he was going to get and leaving it like that is not going to help him land his next gig.

He had one foot out the door at OSU after 2017 before Tenn fans threw a fit about his hiring.

Urban didn’t expect him to stay past 2018 and only let him back out of a sense of loyalty. It screwed up their ability to keep Alex Grinch who was pissed that Meyer hired him then pulled the rug out from under him by putting Schiano back in charge.  Their D sucked and there is a reason it looked disjointed all year, two DCs who’d rather be somewhere else....

That’s the leader in the clubhouse??  He is employed by the Patriots, even if your guess was true, how would that impact him in New England.   That’s just a bad take.    Try this one, he isn’t up for the grind required by Bill B, and Bill B found out that he is a shifty coach who can’t get his units up the even a mediocre level.   Bill B says you’re outta here, to save your pride you can cite whatever reason you want.

Phrasing is important: "spending time with family","faith", and Belichick saying "he has our support" leads me to suspect that he was caught with his gumare or there's a substance issue. Otherwise just say "it wasn't a good fit and I want to Coach Belichick and the Pats for the opportunity."

Saying it wasn't a good fit might be the worst explanation he could ever give.

If the best franchise in the NFL, current Super Bowl champions, a head coach whose assistants never quit and whose coordinators always land HC jobs is such a bad fit that he'll leave after a couple of months, what does that say about Schiano? What NFL team would ever hire him after that?

Isn’t Ohio State a Nike school?  And weren’t we about to hear some scandalous news from crazy lawyer Michael Avenatti about Nike paying players?  Connection to Schiano?  I’ll sleep better tonight dreaming of the juicy possibilities.

It's probably true. The pros take up a lot of time, up to 17 hours a day.

This is off topic, but it seems this would be a good post for making comments on. It looks like Dylan McCaffrey has put on some good muscle too:

It's always funny when these guys who profess to be very religious to begin with have to spend even MORE time tending to their faith, as if they are hypocrites who often break the very rules they profess, usually spectacularly.

He's going to be the head coach at...let's say...Memphis in 3 years.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that that loser Zach smith went on twitter threatening to out people in a future podcast/post and then schiano steps down.
