Grad Transfer QB Options
So, what with with having a 99% shot at bringing Mr. Harbaugh to Michigan, let's shift our attention to next season. Quarterback play is always vital and for the first time in a few years we don't already know who our starter will be at this stage. If Morris isn't deemed the answer, how would we feel about taking a stab at a graduate transfer? Who are some potential options?

I said hypothetically. And in a vacuum. Just going by talent.

Well, they dont play football in a vaacum. Its too small, you cant fit enough players in it.

Would he even be able to get in?

I dont see Michigan picking up a transfer QB in Harbuagh's first year just to use for one season. Just dont see it.

But if he is available, why not.

Michigan has plenty of talent in the 3 guys they will have on the roster. They need to play next year or we will be in the same boat the following year. One of them will step up in the spring.

Morris stats are brutal. Yes coaching was average, but his play has not even bee that. Pray Malzone is Chad henne Jr. or Harbaugh can steal a stud QB.

Saw a rumor here (or elsewhere) in the last few days that Josh Rosen would come to M if we get JH. -- not sure what that would mean to Malzone if it were actually true. (And I don't mean we wouldn't accept him, but rather would he still want to come.)

Does anyone know if any of these guys are desirable possibilities?
Previously expressed interest in UM
already mentioned
Also,
PS Why it would be wise, if not likely, for Braxton Miller to come to UM

As excited as I am about this weekend's impending news, this post takes a little of the shine off things for me. We've been brothers in arms calling for change in the AD and coaching staff and now we're getting EXACTLY what we wanted. We've watched millionaires in the AD and staff drive the product into the ground ... But now, instead of waiting to see what Harbaugh could do with a talented and dedicated young man who's probably having his dream come true right now (gee, I wonder if Harbaugh may have been one of his idols?), we're not satisfied. Throw this kid out, too.
I will say this only in the context of this one topic, but you guys suck.

giving up on Morris as it is giving us the best chance to win. Obviously Morris would still be able to win the job, but usually proven commodities are better than potential, which is what Shane Morris is.

But he may need more competition to reach his full potential. Tom Brady was bummed when he had to sit behind Brian Griese and Todd Collins, then share his PT with Drew Henson. But to this day, he credits that competition for helping make him what he is now.

Stanford Quarterback Kevin Hogan. He's eligible, as he already graduated from Stanford, and he was recruited by Jim Harbaugh at Stanford, so I would presume there is a level of trust there already. Plus he's pretty good.

he is even thinking of transferring out of Stanford, but it's a good fit, especially so if 5* redshirt freshman Keller Chryst, Paul's nephew, looks impressive in spring ball. David Shaw said Hogan will start next year, but you never know.

It is Science, Technology and Society--which draws upon fields such as Computer science, Engineering, History and Medicine
UM's average grad school rank in those fields is in the top 10 nationally.
Stanford's is probably higher, but a busy football player could find problems either getting into or successfully completing a grad program that is too difficult. UM's might be just right for him.

The cupboard is not bare. I have faith in Morris, Speight, and even Malzone.
Anyone else excited to get our run game going again? We have a stable now with Smith, Green, and Ty Issac. Even D Johnson had flashes of greatness. We're due for a 1,000 yard season for a RB soon. With Harbaugh at the helm, the years of wasting talent with little player development should be over.

A good OL and a strong running game could make one of our current QB's look awfully good.

Wouldn't he be chomping at the bit to prove he can make something of the guys we have?
December 27th, 2014 at 5:44 PM ^
I'm not convinced the boat has sailed on Morris.
December 27th, 2014 at 5:49 PM ^
He's got all the talent in the world and the intangibles to go with it. If there's anyone that can corral that talent and develop it into solid play, it's Harbaugh.

Disappointing thread. Took like 30-40 posts to get any name, then a bunch more to get a name other than Braxton Miller. I thought people who'd respond to this would know something?
Even Magnus didn't offer a name!
