GERG CAN'T HEAR YOU CUZ HE'S GOT SUPERBOWL RINGS PLUGGING HIS EARS

Submitted by SFBayAreaBlue on

For christ's sake, some of you negative nillies need to take a chill pill.  Remember what our offense looked like with sheridan at the helm?  And now we're rolling up 500 per week.  Give the man a chance to get some freaking players in.  He's a fine coordinator working with the equivalent of three or four sheridan's in the backfield and probably a couple other threets on the 2 deep.

What we need are players!  We need to recruit better players!  We need to keep them from transferring or declaring early when no one is going to draft them.  We need to keep them busy and out of trouble with the law.

And you debbie downers are not helping by going overboat with your stupid "analysis" of the defense.  The man has coached defenses to TWO Superbowl wins.  WHAT THE F*** HAVE YOU DONE?

There has been a lot of progress with this defense. No, the numbers don't show it.  But it's there if you look hard enough.  And in another year or two it will be so apparent that you arseh0*es will owe everyone on this board, all of our potential recruits, and the entire football team a huge apology.

To any potential DB's out there,  COME TO MICHIGAN! Charles Woodson, Leon Hall, Marlin Jackson, Ty Law, Etc, etc, etc all did and it was the stage for them to shine.  We've got tons of playing time available for anyone who wants to come in and work hard.  Please come to Michigan, just to shut up the idiots on this board.

if he had Donovan Warren and Troy Woolfolk starting at corner. It would be a totally different defense. GERG didn't have anything to do with that. The Michigan D played well enough in the second half, and they won. Laying blame for all the defense's struggles on GERG is like blaming a race car driver who loses because his car isn't as fast. How many big, 50+ yard plays did they give up?

While it isn't 100% GERG's fault, it is schematically his fault. If your only rushing three there isn't any reason why any part of the field isn't covered. I personally am one who believes that pressure makes the pipe burst. I would put our guys up in the faces of receivers, instead of giving them so much of a cushion and just bring heat. This would cause us to give up some plays, but IMO we would create more turnovers as a result. I will say that my heart was beating strong just like everyone else's, but when they didn't go for two, I was relieved because I thought that we would get down and score without the pressure of score or lose. Sorry I'm rambling. In conclusion, we can scheme to make this defense better than they are currently playing.

Aren't those type of entitled/arrogant statements usually reserved for Domer fans?

You may not like the amount points our defense surrenders and the manner in which they surrender them, but the defense is playing hard and determined.  Like everyone else, I wish God blessed these guys on defense with more/better speed, agility, size, and tackling ability, but I at least get the sense that they along with the rest of the team are wearing their winged helmets with a sense of pride.

The defense may not be playing great football right now, but they certainly aren't underachieving as individuals, and they are representing Michigan well otherwise.  It's not like they are playing poorly because they're mailing it in like the Tigers.

They are division 1 athletes; criticizing their tackling/schemes/coverage/play recognition is fair game as they somewhat signed up for it, but your tone sucks.  They deserve better than that bullshit statement.

Are you watching the same Michigan that has had losing seasons in back to back years? or maybe the one that has lost countless players (I've really lost count) from the defensive side of the ball over the last three years let alone this year?

That arrogance that we are MICHIGAN is what got us into this predicament in the first place. Maybe take note of how Denard has carried himself on and off the field and remain humble about past success as well as this season's success. This team will go through growing pains, but they are moving in the right direction. Rome wasn't built overnight.

I think last year's secondary class was fantastic, give it a year or two and they could be pretty good.  I see this defense as being really close to breaking out in a good way.  An extra bit of coverage and we get more sacks and turnovers.

But totally agree on the relax notion...

I agree.

BEFORE Woolfolk went out with an injury, Phil Steele said that we had the youngest defense of any team that we will face all year.  Our secondary is full of young players and a few relatively inexperienced older players.  I think our defense would struggle no matter who was the DC.

To the guy who said that Robinson should be fired...It would be foolish to continue the UofM DC merry-go-round and fire Robinson with the youngest Defense in the BigTen.  2007 English, 2008 Schaffer, 2009-10 Robinson, 2011 someone new?  Wouldn't this add more confusion to the learning process?

4 DCs in 5 years?  Give Robinson another year and let's see what he can do with a more experienced Defense.

The only thing that can stop this staff from building a machine is the lack of patience from people ignoring the youth of this team.

I just want to see some improvement, and I have seen none.  That is all..inexperience and lack of depth or not all of the units should almost be in mid-season form.  No question where our offense is, but if this is what our defense is going to look like all year with no improvement then that falls on the coaching staff.  Those DB's don't play with any confidence and the lack of pressure on the qb hasn't been anything to write home about.  We made Ben Chappell look like Peyton Manning and be compared to Peyton during the broadcast...Our best defense tonight was Barwis' conditioning program.  Our defense had their offense gassed and began to take advantage a couple of times. Game ball to Denard, JR Hemmingway, The entire OL, and Mike Martin.  Honorable mention : V.Smith, R.Roundtree, Mouton/Kovacs

...want to come within sniffing distance of the steaming pile of shit that is our defense. Sorry.

The truth hurts.

No Ha Ha. No Gant. They don't dare go to M and be swallowed up by the great black hole of SUCK.

Let's talk about the offense!!

Every other school is telling these kids that the M defensive staff is clueless and won't be able to develop them for the NFL.

Our staff's ability to develop talent is currently in question.  I'm not saying they CAN'T do it. I'm saying it is a legitimate question. And recruits don't usually like to gamble with their future.
