Texas to hire Matt Millen as General Manager.

You win the internet.

Breaking news: Matt Millen hires Charlie Weis as new head coach. Front Butt hires Bollman/Greg Davis as co-OCs and promotes Gerg to DatBullDC4Life with a contract that doubles Kirk Ferentz's buyout clause.

Now it's come full circle.

I get it. GERG is Chauncey Gardiner.

I'm not sure they know what they're about to get into. The only thing worse than giving up 550 yards on the ground to BYU is convincing yourself that GERG is the solution to it. Those poor souls...
Edit: Maybe Texas will go for Narduzzi, at least as a DC in the offseason? Lord knows they need some help and Narduzzi would get them there

GERG probably still thinks it was all the fault of RichRods 3-3-5.

How quickly can we schedule Texas for a home and home?

I lied there was a word. So many questions.

There isn't ANYONE in the country that wants to be the Texas DC? Anyone? They could have grabbed any successful high school DC in Austin and done better than GERG.

No defense can miss tackles, stay 15 yards from receievers and give up 70 yard runs up the middle like a Gerg defense.
This is truly a white flag.
September 8th, 2013 at 6:43 PM ^
Fits right in line with the ideals of the Big XII: all offense, no defense.
September 8th, 2013 at 6:44 PM ^
31.52 = defensive PPG allowed in Gerg's two seasons as DC
18.61 = defensive PPG allowed in Mattison's two seasons as DC

Oh dear, the folks at Burnt Orange Nation are trying to talk themselves off the ledge when they should be drinking Jim Jones's Kool Aid.
"Michigan didn’t have the athletes on the defensive side of the ball. They were usually in position to make the play, the right play was “usually” called but you could tell they couldn’t match the speed or athleticism of their opponents."
"That was a bad hire. It was a clash bringing RichRod to Ann Arbor and it caused a messed up situation. I have trouble pinning anything on Robinson."
"This was the only credible move that could have been made and I held about 2% hope that it would actually happen."

I seem to recall two wheel routes that Illinois ran in 2010 that were the easiest touchdowns in existence. A correctable thing for ANY defense, no matter how young...and yet Michigan looked like it was the trickiest trick play in existence.

Yikes . . . it sounds like Mack Brown hired Diaz in the first place because his D "shut down" Michigan in the 2011 Gator Bowl. Of course, we know that was more about us mailing it in than anything. And now he's hiring the other awful DC on the field that day? Oh Mack...

Thank you for pointing this out.
CW is Brown will be out. I'm not so sure about that, but regardless this is probably a temp job for Greg. Although, that said, I don't think Brown is much of a teacher, so Robinson should fit right in.
September 8th, 2013 at 6:55 PM ^
Mac Brown is bad at coaching and has been since a man named Colt left town. That is all.
September 8th, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
I hate Texas almost as much as I hate Notre Dame.
So Gerg and his beaver are going to the Longhorns!
hahahahahhahahahahahah!
September 8th, 2013 at 7:03 PM ^
Mack Brown knew he needed more points on the board at Texas Memorial Stadium, and decided to just hire GERG instead of improve the offense.
"It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em."
September 8th, 2013 at 7:01 PM ^
rings from his time with the Broncos that keeps on getting GERG jobs, there is no other explanation. That is about the only point in his career where he looked halfway competent as a DC. Either that or Mack Brown has a thing for stuffed animals.
If hiring GERG isn't the end of the line for Mack Brown, I don't what is.
