Gonna hope for Wisconsin to pull this off. I think they have a better chance at beating OSU and it makes our resume look better.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:48 PM ^
Nah, Wisconsin had their shot at OSU already & blew it. Time for some fresh meat.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:14 AM ^
Minnesota is a legit team. I feel like Wisconsin is pretty good but propped up by advanced stats and resume because they got Michigan at a good time. Minnesota is probably the better team, and Wisconsin already got crushed. Minny clearly the better story too. Definitely rooting for them.
November 24th, 2019 at 8:08 AM ^
Root for Minnesota. If we beat OSU, then it's about rankings. If Minnesota loses then Wisconsin and Minnesota will be ranked ahead of us. If Minnesota wins then gets blasted by OSU in the B1G title game, we pass both Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Gameday sucks anyway. Fox has better coverage than Espn and their pregame show is way better.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
Yup. ESPN has fallen way behind both Fox and CBS. Their college football coverage is now third-rate.
November 24th, 2019 at 2:10 PM ^
ESPN is a pile of hot shit. I avoid their stations at all costs.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
You just like Urbane Meyer...
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
Nah, fuck him. Espn is just trash all the way around now days, Facts.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:53 PM ^
Between Herbie and Urban, at least Urban sounds smarter.
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:52 PM ^
Watching Lee Corso struggle on tv is hard for me.
November 24th, 2019 at 9:12 AM ^
For me, too. I have to applaud ESPN for keeping him on. But I wonder where the balance lies between supporting his dignity and merely patronizing him.
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:04 PM ^
I'll be honest and say I've never even given Fox a look. But I enjoy Gameday. Find myself freeze framing my screen and trying to read the signs more than listening to the commentators. Dez has grown into a fine commentator and reps U of M well. I could do without the fat, middle aged, bald guy with a lisp getting more and more camera time. And I sure as shit don't need three hours of it.
Side question: Has anyone ever cracked the case of why the fuck the Polesmokers were the celebrity pickers last year?
November 24th, 2019 at 7:22 AM ^
Are you for real complaining about what another man looks like on a college football pregame show??? Man that is weird. Write ESPN and let them know you want him replaced by a young well muscled type without a speech impediment.
November 24th, 2019 at 9:05 AM ^
Lol the fat middle aged baked white guy is Chris Fallica who is the producer of the show . He’s a cool guy .
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:47 PM ^
I've complained about Fox's commercials a bit this year, but I was just shocked at how poorly today's ESPN broadcast was handled. Inexplicable missed replays (Two point conversion and Indiana personal foul some point after that were just horrible), the most boilerplate announcing I've heard this year, camera crews or whoever the hell runs things deciding fan reactions and players on the sideline were more important to show than the actual game, etc.
November 23rd, 2019 at 11:09 PM ^
Yes, terrible. The camera zoom during plays was awful as well.
What was the Indiana personal Foul, I don't remember it being called?
November 23rd, 2019 at 11:25 PM ^
I don't know what it actually was because they didn't show it lol. We were on offense IIRC. All I know is if the team I root for got a 15 yard penalty called with zero replays I'd be annoyed as hell.
November 24th, 2019 at 8:00 AM ^
Yes, now that you mention it, I agree. It wasn’t good coverage. My wife and I were watching and a number of times I said, “Watch this or that”, expecting a replay. Never happened.
Lots of cliches and obvious chatter.
November 24th, 2019 at 8:22 AM ^
Fox? Are you serious? Have you seen Reggie Bush? Leinart? It doesn't even come close, they aren't even in the same conversation as Gameday. Not even a debate.
Meyer is definitely a better analyst than anyone at ESPN, but that's where it ends.
November 24th, 2019 at 9:37 AM ^
Gameday really screwed up by making it a 3 hr show. You could do everything you need to do in 90 minutes. Now they just fill time with Tom Rinaldi pieces about Tua's hip like he died. Super watered down now and it's made it much less interesting
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:36 PM ^
HFC.
Not Household Finance rather Hu Fukin Cares.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:38 PM ^
Understandable. We also haven’t exactly helped our case being so futile in THE GAME. So I can see why Gameday would go to Minnesota.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:40 PM ^
They’ve earned it. There’s more at stake in that game than there is in any other rivalry game next week.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:40 PM ^
I can't believe people still care where GameDay goes. Its heyday is way in the rearview mirror.
November 24th, 2019 at 7:32 AM ^
Not really. It still seems like it’s a big deal. The campus is always pumped up for a GameDay visit. YOU may not care, but the students care.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
Good there is less heat and a skeptical

They managed to knock off 2 - Never Been To - P5 schools from the list this year.
That pares the list down to 9:
Duke
Syracuse
Virginia
Wake Forest
Maryland
Illinois
Rutgers
Kansas
Cal
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
That list, 4 days after the sun burns out....
1. Rutgers
2.
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:29 PM ^
BLASPHEMER!
They started this game we all love (allegedly).
But really that cracked me up. And it cracks me up that they keep firing their HC's. Someone needs to tap them on the shoulder and say "Hey, you realize you're Rutgers right? And you play in the B1G East?".
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:50 PM ^
Probably since our game on Fox and not ABC/ESPN. Gameday is not that big a deal any longer, not like it was 10 to 20 years ago.
November 24th, 2019 at 7:34 AM ^
Are you sure it’s not a big deal anymore? Or is it just not a big deal to YOU? I still see massive crowds, signs, hype at every GameDay campus visit.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
I ain't even mad!
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:53 PM ^
Good.
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
As they should. Our “game” isn’t a real rivalry anymore.
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
Excellent news. The lower profile our game is nationally the better chance OSU isn’t ready to go.
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:09 PM ^
I know it’s early but the forecast is calling for snow. Should be fun.
November 23rd, 2019 at 10:11 PM ^
Oh, fuck ESPN. Desmond’s my man, and I’ll always love Lee Corso. But the entire rest of that bullshit network can host Gameday from the licking fires of Hell for all I care.
November 24th, 2019 at 2:05 AM ^
Any other team besides Wisconsin
November 24th, 2019 at 9:10 AM ^
Good to see Minnesota getting some recognition They are having a good season and deserve it. The game is still huge whether game day is here or not. Beat OSU
November 24th, 2019 at 12:24 PM ^
It makes sense given that everyone expects OSU to beat us fairly easily. I think the national scene has like zero trust in Michigan to win games they aren't favored to win at this point.
With regard to Gameday in general, of course there is less attention paid to it now because ABC/ESPN no longer can be counted to have the best games. A Saturday where the big noon game is on FOX and the big 3.30 game on CBS is a problem for them, and it's been happening.
I think they screwed up letting the Big Ten go to FOX for most of the coverage while CBS owns the best SEC games. Those conferences are the ones with the most fans and who generate the most attention no matter how good ACC, Big 12 or Pac teams are.
November 24th, 2019 at 4:19 PM ^
I like game day, but I agree it’s way too long. Should probably be a 90 minute show max. Way too much fluff.
November 24th, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
C-Wood's on Fox this Saturday...nuff said.
