The Game set for Noon.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:46 AM ^
I could be wrong on this, but I haven't noticed any instances of the regional ABC/ESPN2 mirror that was a mainstay in recent seasons, particularly in the 3:30 slot. They seem to have done away with the old "coverage maps", although surely they could return later in the year.

Was just throwing out a guess.

OSU losses to Sparty, Nebraska, and Penn State would do the trick.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:11 AM ^
I would much rather see this game played at noon than 3:30 from a road team perspective.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:12 AM ^
I can't think of the last time where THE GAME has not been noon.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:15 AM ^
Wasn't noon in 2006, it was dark by the 4th quarter.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:22 AM ^
2006 was a 3:30 kickoff. Most of the 2nd half was under the lights.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:17 AM ^
The 2006 classic perhaps? Now for no personal fouls...
October 5th, 2016 at 11:18 AM ^
2006 was 3:30. With that in mind, I'm happy with noon.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:19 AM ^
Whoops
October 5th, 2016 at 11:19 AM ^
Yikes.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:28 AM ^
There was a time when it was at 1:00. But now that noon and 3:30 are the standard times, it's always at noon.
October 5th, 2016 at 12:06 PM ^
October 5th, 2016 at 7:09 PM ^
Those were all 3:30 EST kick offs. Know what they had in common? Both teams were ranked in the top five.

that's why you're not the most interesting man in the world. And for the record, neither am I.
October 5th, 2016 at 12:37 PM ^
I'll allow it.
October 5th, 2016 at 12:03 PM ^
I think most agree that Noon works for The Game. But honestly man, you just prefer Noon games personally and hide behind a Bo quote from 40 years ago as if that should forever be gospel for all home games. I can guarantee Yost and Crisler said and believed some outdated things in their time, and not all Michigan "traditions" warrant continuing in perpetuity.
October 5th, 2016 at 4:13 PM ^
It's the incessant need for attention at all times. That's what it is.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:12 AM ^
But here's why. ESPN wouldnt want one of these match-ups to be bumped to a lesser viewed time slot now would we?

only Alabama and Clemson will be relevant by then, and they both play crappy teams that day.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:23 AM ^
Don't underestimate USC's ability to show up for Clemson, even when they are coached by a meathead
October 5th, 2016 at 12:26 PM ^
USC at Notre Dame is the same day, but it will be on NBC since it is a Domer's home game.
While this promises to be two also-rans this year, it still garners national attention.
October 5th, 2016 at 1:47 PM ^
Notre Dame lately never ends their regular season with a home game. It always ends out west in California against either S Cal or Stanford. This season at S Cal is their final game of the regular season.
October 5th, 2016 at 4:50 PM ^
instead of SB as a substitute for the bowl game they would have been invited to if they were actually bowl worthy.
October 5th, 2016 at 1:50 PM ^
ND is at USC this year, so it's probably going to be the 330 or 8 pm ABC/ESPN game
October 5th, 2016 at 3:48 PM ^
The way USC and ND are playing there must be a more interesting game that day.
I'd rather see UCLA at Cal, or Utah at Colorado.

October 5th, 2016 at 11:17 AM ^
Who is this surprising? It's only been not at Noon (or 1pm) a handful of times, ever.

He's just mad the helmets aren't leather anymore
October 5th, 2016 at 12:13 PM ^
surprises me a little bit given the current rankings. Refresh my memory, was The Game set for Noon in '06 and then later changed to 3:30 based on the circumstances?
Edit: Yes, The Game was originally scheduled for Noon in '06 and was moved to 3:30 by ABC late in the season once it became clear what the implications would be. Would not be surprised if that took place again this year, though we have a long way to go.
October 5th, 2016 at 2:05 PM ^
I rewatched it a few weeks ago. From the TV perspective, the sky surrounding the stadium seemed dimly lit by tire fires raging all over Columbus. So, yeah, The Game was a 3:30 start in '06.
October 5th, 2016 at 6:00 PM ^
That's not a good reason. This should be a prime time game, or at the very least 3:30.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:15 AM ^
I really don't care when games are played. Night games often have a special atmosphere and vibe to them, but that's about it. Why are so many people saying "this is how it should be" and the like?
If I recall correctly, The Game has been played early almost every year that I have watched, but I don't really care about kickoff time as long as I get to watch it.

This is the internet, where people have strong opinions about mostly irrelevant things.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:27 AM ^
You are most certainly not wrong.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:15 AM ^
other than "tradition" to not want a prime time game? I feel like there's a small minority of people who do NOT want Michigan football to look how it did 30 years ago.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:18 AM ^
Because an outdoor game after dark on the last weekend in November in Big Ten country is not something most people would enjoy?

...are mouth-breathing idiots.
October 5th, 2016 at 11:51 AM ^
This argument is so tired. The NFL plays well into the middle of winter. People are fine. No one is forcing anyone to go to games. If it's too cold, then don't go.
October 5th, 2016 at 12:05 PM ^
The NFL is sterile, homogenized crap that brings out about 1/10th of the passion that college football does.
October 5th, 2016 at 12:14 PM ^
very true but pretty irrelevant to his point.
October 5th, 2016 at 4:15 PM ^
You expected a relevant argument from him?
