Not really. The NFL and college football aren't comparable outside of it being the game of football.

No one is forcing anyone to go to games. If it's too cold, then don't go.
For schools looking to keep filling up their stadiums at a time when the bubble is in danger of bursting, I'm not sure that's a winning argument.

I live in STL so I'm the only one making my plans in relation to UM football.  So watching my premiere league game with breakfast, then switching to beer and meat based products for the 11am game gives me the entire day afterwards.  Either to take a nap and go out at night, or to finish yard work and errands.  Or to keep drinking and fall asleep early\game, lets be honest.

Been lucky a few times where I had 3pm or night weddings to go to also so dodged a conflict.

11am-2:30 isn't bad where 5-8:30 or later seems to waste my primetime and my best going out and being social night, just less fun to be watching the game alone at night versus during the day.

Don't complain about the start time--complain about the fact that this game is now permabumped to Thanksgiving weekend, making it difficult for students of both schools who travel home for the holiday to attend the game.

People are going to watch no matter when kickoff is scheduled--it's UM-OSU.

The Big 10 was pretty much the last conference to change to that. It was hard not to notice that all the rivalry games were now being played Thanksgiving weekend except UM/OSU.

This was blamed, partially, on Tressel's OSU teams getting destroyed in national title games and it was always attributed to too much time between the final game and the bowl game. But the B1G eventually added the conference championship game anyway so that argument became moot.

As an out of towner when the home OSU game is on T-giving weekend it lets me visit family and catch a game.  Can spend T-giving with the gf's family then celebrate it again on Friday with my family and then go to the game Saturday.

TBH afraid to go to Columbus as an opposing fan but being at noon versus at night I think I'd swing it once.

Good point. I never really thought about how many people may travel back to Michigan on that weekend, due to it being a Holdiay.

Between the Lions on Thursday (I know, but I don't see them much on TV now that I'm out of state), and the Game on Saturday, Thanksgiving weekend has turned into a stay-cation every year.

They started serving beer at the Shoe this year I believe. I have no idea if that will cause any changes in behavior for their fans but for those of us who will be attending, the earlier the better.

I personally don't like noon games, but my reason is very specific to my own life situation:  with two fairly young kids, it is hard to really watch the games the way that I want to watch (i.e. completely focused on the game, screaming like a madman and fairly obsessively unhinged, especially for The Game), and kids' sports often get in the way.

So, a few years back, my wife and I started a tradition of DVRing all games, going on a complete media blackout, and watching them "live" at night after we put the kids to sleep.  Our media blackout is pretty "all in" - cell phones are powered off, we don't go anywhere that has a TV, we don't wear our Michigan gear and those who know us are warned not to even mention the game if they know the score.  While we have been successful in doing this, it can be difficult and really (1) cuts into our planning options for saturdays in the fall, and (2) is stressful, as we are constantly worried about finding out the score.  Night games are the best, since the delay between kickoff and when we start the game is minimal, so there is no real media blackout.  3:30 games are decent, since we only have to go on blackout for a few hours.

But nooners are the worst - we have to go "off the grid" for the entire day, which isn't easy to do.  It is even harder for The Game, since that game tends to get a lot more coverage, even in NY.

to night media blackout would be very difficult.  I just find a way to watch them utilizing a lot of DVR and "half-playing" with my kids while the games are going on.  It is stressful watching for sure, but I would prefer it to having the outcome spoiled in a failed media blackout.

Yes. I have been clamoring for that for years. There is no reason why UM and OSU cannot both wear their home uniforms for the game. I also don't require a response from someone that says "because it's tradition." And another thing, I understand why UCLA and USC both wear their home uniforms - because their colors contrast AND they both play in LA.

Newspaper accounts of the dedication game of Michigan Stadium in 1927 talk about Ohio State's scarlett jerseys and Michigan's blue jerseys.

As recently as 1950 - the famous "Snow Bowl" in Columbus - both Michigan and Ohio State wore "home" unis:

We should both wear home unis for The Game.  It's a "throwback" that's actually authentic.

I am glad it is a noon kick because Michigan on the road in hostile environments being kicked then make me feel a LITTLE bit better, but based on the way their seasons are going, this SHOULD be 3:30 or later.

Apples to apples, noon games are quieter than later games. UTL1 was crazy and I've been to a number of big games in the big house at noon where it felt like half the stadium hadn't had their morning coffee yet

Because this is a road game I'm thrilled its 12. Early games take away from home advantage, which is why michigan should never have a big game start before 3:30.

I'm just glad Bo never suggested kicking off at 9:00am.

Noon is an acoustic guitar / 8:00pm is an electric with an amplifier.  Night games aren't necessarily "better" -- They're just louder and more energetic.

Someday they're going to say "F*** it" and have OSU @ Michigan under the lights and it's going to blow the doors off the planet and we're all going be embarrassed for accepting Noon for so long.

(But we should absolutely uphold tradition and keep Noon kicks in the Horseshoe.)

And to the brilliant people above who suggested both teams wear home jerseys - YES!  Michigan and OSU have the perfect contrasting darks to make that look fantastic.  Full support.  I will write my congressman.
