The Game- Final Score and Predictions

Submitted by BloomingtonBlue on

It's Ohio State Week and we have zero threads on the matter. Due to the fact there is really no point to discuss how we match up, potential weaknesses to exploit etc.  My head says 49-6 to OSU. My heart says 27-24 OSU, even it can't be persuaded to pick UM. What's your final score and predictions for THE GAME?

80-13 they never stop scoring. Urban tries a Hail Mary with three seconds left up 72-13 they get it he goes for two and gets it. Every recruit de commits as the game goes on. Jim harbaugh calls urban and ask to be his offensive coordinator rather then come to Michigan. Our irrelevance continues.

Two ways this goes, neither of which has U of M winning.

A. We play real good and lose at the very end.

B.  We are blown out right from the start.

I go with B.  I think this will be more like the Rich Rod bowl just before he was fired.  This team knows he's done.  It's been a really hard year, crappy season.  They get behind a bit and mail it in, I think.  49-14 is my prediction.

I think our Wolverines come out with a lot of passion and energy and keep it competitive in the first half, with a halftime score around 17-10 or 21-14 OSU. But in the second half Urban shows why he's the better coach and makes adjustments that Hoke can't keep up with. Our defense gets beat on a deep pass and a 50+ yard run right up the middle and the Buckeyes pull away as their D line punishes Gardner in the second half.

Thanks to the inherent magicalness of their athletic bodies the Michigan Wolverines survive with some ego damage. Participation medals are handed out for the 48-9 loss, starting Michigan's answer to the Gold Pant / Tattoo Bargaining Chip tradition of OSU.

Michigan will score some surprising points early on, but the defense, yes, the better unit, will have the rougher day. I just don't see them being able to slow Barrett/Elliott/Marshall/Smith beyond a couple drives when they hold them to field goals. OSU will make defensive adjustments at the half to stuff Michigan's O the rest of the way. 55-20, Bad Guys.

I predict that I will have to DVR this game and watch something else while keeping an eye on the score.   That way, if Michigan does pull off the miracle, I can watch the last few minutes live and then watch the rest of the game.

This team, staff and former AD have temporarily drained my enthusiasm.  To me, suffering through another painful loss is like beating a dead horse until all of the skin has fallen off of your hands.

And my reasoning on this?  /checks pockets and examines lint, scratches head, taps fingers/

It would be the perfect capper to the Hoke years, and give a solid number of fans a basis to say "aww, we let go of Hoke just as he was turning things around" for years.

What?  No, I'm not taking any bets.

They are calling for temps here in Columbus of close to 50 BUT 18mph wind and gusts up to 30mph... Michigan has been running the ball well lately and the Buckeyes have not stopped the run well... OSU's big passing advantage could be diminished...I'm thinking OSU by about 10...not a blow-out.

I have two schools of thought and I can't decide which is correct.

1: Hoke has kept this game close in all three previous years, won the first one and would have won last year with a better final offensive play call.  He gameplans very well and Mattison plans the game of his life and it comes down to the wire but ultimately we don't have the horses to keep up.  We lose 20 - 17.

2: Meyer knows that his team must win by a gazillion and a half points to get into the playoff barring an upset special weekend.  His team is motivated to not just win but win in a blowout.  We are unable to keep up past the first quarter and lose 41 - 10.

48-3.  Agree with some others that UM is running the ball better, but the passing game is awful.  In 6 of its 11 games UM hasn't scored more then one TD and with the exception of Minny, the teams they have scored more then one TD against are awful - App St, Miaim, IU and Rutgers.  I don't think UM crosses the goaline in this game.

so I was thinking something like 42-7 buckeyes as the score.  Went and looked at the score for the 2008 game and it was 42-7.  So, I guess I'll stick with that.

My gut tells me that we can keep it close, because Indiana did last week, and they're basically as bad as we are. I want to believe that Hoke will empty out the playbook and, knowing this is the end for him, he will throw everything he possibly can at OSU in hopes of pulling out a miracle.

But its been gut-check time for him for weeks, and he's failed to respond. The defense might keep it close for the first half, but we'll be done in by horribly predictable play-calling, and a few all-too-familiar turnovers. It might be 21-10 at halftime, but the game will likely be busted wide open in the second half, something to the tune of 56-17. The defense just won't be able to hold anymore. Meyer knows he needs to pull out all the stops to get into the playoff. This guy isn't like Tressel, who would call the dogs off when the game is in check. He won't be afraid to debase and absolutely humilate us on national television. Meyer will channel his inner Woody, and will be the asshole that will go for two at the end of the game just because he can.

I will be at the game on Saturday. I was offered a ticket and I'll be damned if I don't support this team to the bitter end. But I'm already settling in for what will be a very long day.
