Mallett is a guy who last played at Michigan about 12 years ago. I think we are past the statute of limitations to have an active paparazzi following around his incredibly minor transgressions.

I'm an old man who grew up in the Detroit area.

DWI did not even really exist until about the mid 80's. Prior to that, people were warned, followed home, or even driven home if their car was in a ditch or they/their car were undrivable.

L. Brooks and Bill Bonds were perfect examples. Let off or driven home on multiple occasions. Public knowledge.

The norm was more like George in "It's a Wonderful Life." He drove drunk and damaged private property, but Burts only concern was for his safety, and no arrest.

I'm not saying it's not a scourge of human irresponsibility, but I am saying cockpit distraction in autos has taken its place as being responsible for the most accidents and fatalities.

If you text and drive, you are the same as a drunk to me, spinning that wheel of fortune every time you allow yourself to be distracted.

Sad news. I mean I get posting it because he played at Michigan for a minute before transferring out... That said the real scandal for the boards is when universities cover these things up. That's how people don't learn from their mistakes.

People make mistakes, and this here's a crisis nobody really wants to talk about. Way too many drunks on the roads, along with texters. You are in a 3,000 lb vehicle traveling at 50-70mph. you hold multiple people's lives in your fumbling hands. I'd like to meet an under 40 guy who's never read his phone while driving.
