Former UofM Quarterback Ryan Mallett Arrested for DWI
Unfortunate news for a former player:
September 11th, 2019 at 5:34 PM ^
Yah, no one saw that coming.
September 11th, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
Was at Arkansas longer...he’s a Razorback
September 11th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
You can say mallett was... hammered
September 11th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
Nailed it!
September 11th, 2019 at 6:18 PM ^
Considering the situation, these jokes are pretty tacky. I mean, the guy is screwed!
September 11th, 2019 at 8:08 PM ^
Always use the right tool for the job.
September 11th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
Speaking of, anyone listen to the new Fear Inoculum album by Tool yet? Someone should start a thread about it.
September 11th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
You hit the nail on the head
September 11th, 2019 at 10:53 PM ^
I saw this one coming.
September 11th, 2019 at 5:50 PM ^
Must be a slow news day in Detroit if they're choosing to cover a DWI in Arkansas just because the guy spent one year in Michigan.
September 11th, 2019 at 7:25 PM ^
You can see the thought process though:
"Random crime in Arkansas, oh wait, there's a MICHIGAN angle...runs to editor, BREAKING news alert!!!"
September 11th, 2019 at 7:40 PM ^
The editor of DetNews is an MSU grad. Maybe that had something to do with it.
September 11th, 2019 at 9:47 PM ^
That has everything to do with it. He's a real twat.
September 11th, 2019 at 10:24 PM ^
+1 for the use of twat.
September 11th, 2019 at 5:51 PM ^
That’s his life, not mine. I won’t point fingers and will just keep living my own life.
September 11th, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
Let me tell you this, the older you do get the more rules they're gonna try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin' man, L-I-V-I-N.
September 11th, 2019 at 6:29 PM ^
Alright, alright.
September 11th, 2019 at 8:01 PM ^
I would agree except its effin drunk driving and he was in a car accident. He could have easily killed multiple people due to his stupidity. Every day innocent people are killed because of drunk drivers and their families devastated.
September 11th, 2019 at 9:47 PM ^
You are making the common assumption that the accident was his fault.
That's the mistake a lot of drunks make. They think they can get home, but don't consider the ramifications if someone runs into them.
Drink responsibly, and don't make stupid assumptions.
September 11th, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
Y post this
September 11th, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
Mallett is a guy who last played at Michigan about 12 years ago. I think we are past the statute of limitations to have an active paparazzi following around his incredibly minor transgressions.
September 11th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Drunk driving kills 10,000 people a year.
September 11th, 2019 at 6:59 PM ^
It's also a crime that I'd say 90% of the adult population has committed at least once. .08 isn't that much booze.
September 11th, 2019 at 7:36 PM ^
I’d say no. Most people aren’t grossly irresponsible shitbags.
September 11th, 2019 at 7:39 PM ^
You sound young. Bunch of judgmental assholes, your generation.
September 11th, 2019 at 8:03 PM ^
Come on, if your families killed by a drunk driver, I'm sure you'll be like "No big deal, all adults drive drunk at least once"
September 11th, 2019 at 8:43 PM ^
I'm a realist and I abhor hypocrisy. Most adults have driven over the legal limit. That's a crime and it should be illegal. I'm just not fond of people on the internet getting on their high horse to show how much better they are than the average person.
September 11th, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
This is a major part of the problem.
There has to be a better deterrent than we currently have. As I understand it in Canada (from an accident in Canada where the guy who hit me was BLITZED) insurance companies do not cover you if you are drunk. That might make people think twice.
September 11th, 2019 at 10:09 PM ^
I'm an old man who grew up in the Detroit area.
DWI did not even really exist until about the mid 80's. Prior to that, people were warned, followed home, or even driven home if their car was in a ditch or they/their car were undrivable.
L. Brooks and Bill Bonds were perfect examples. Let off or driven home on multiple occasions. Public knowledge.
The norm was more like George in "It's a Wonderful Life." He drove drunk and damaged private property, but Burts only concern was for his safety, and no arrest.
I'm not saying it's not a scourge of human irresponsibility, but I am saying cockpit distraction in autos has taken its place as being responsible for the most accidents and fatalities.
If you text and drive, you are the same as a drunk to me, spinning that wheel of fortune every time you allow yourself to be distracted.
September 11th, 2019 at 7:53 PM ^
Killing someone while drunk driving isn't a minor transgression.
The simple act of driving above the legal limit is.
September 11th, 2019 at 8:21 PM ^
“Firing off a gun in a completely random direction in a crowded area is a minor transgression unless you hit someone!”
September 11th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
Plaxico say OUCH!!!
September 11th, 2019 at 9:31 PM ^
Elicited a chuckle from me, good job
September 11th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
I know plenty of people who have driven drunk many times and never gotten into an accident. In fact, the vast vast majority of people who have driven drunk haven't.
September 12th, 2019 at 9:59 AM ^
Is that true? I didn't realize that. I'll have to mention that to the Sparty fan I talked to last night who claimed Nick Foles' success for the ol' Green and White. After all, he did play (checks Sports Reference.com) 1 game for MSU in 2007.
September 11th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
Sad news. I mean I get posting it because he played at Michigan for a minute before transferring out... That said the real scandal for the boards is when universities cover these things up. That's how people don't learn from their mistakes.
People make mistakes, and this here's a crisis nobody really wants to talk about. Way too many drunks on the roads, along with texters. You are in a 3,000 lb vehicle traveling at 50-70mph. you hold multiple people's lives in your fumbling hands. I'd like to meet an under 40 guy who's never read his phone while driving.
September 11th, 2019 at 7:27 PM ^
Or even tweeted while driving.
September 11th, 2019 at 6:27 PM ^
Happens to the best of us.
September 11th, 2019 at 7:12 PM ^
Does it?
September 11th, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
I mean...everyone murders.
September 11th, 2019 at 8:13 PM ^
Happened to Harbaugh
September 11th, 2019 at 7:01 PM ^
Sad to hear, but as has been said he graduated from Arkansas, not Michigan.
September 11th, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
Anybody got an Uber for Ryan Mallett?
September 11th, 2019 at 8:14 PM ^
God dammit, I came here to post almost the same joke:
Does anybody got a breathalyzer for Ryan Mallett?
September 11th, 2019 at 8:33 PM ^
Definitely one of my favorite sports memes
September 11th, 2019 at 8:53 PM ^
What if he was the Uber driver?
September 11th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
Million dollar arm. Ten cent head.
Truer words were never spoken.
September 11th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
Does he have a Porsche with a Blaupunkt?
September 11th, 2019 at 10:29 PM ^
Should've asked for the supervisor.
September 12th, 2019 at 6:29 AM ^
The unfortunate person is the person he hit while drunk.
