Former M OT Dann O'Neill is no Justin Boren
Former Michigan tackle Dann O'Neill left the program two years ago and will be the starting right tackle for WMU this Saturday. Sounds like he is still a Michigan fan but left the program in a manner unlike Justin Boren.

but yea, I agree it's hilarious that O'Neill thinks that anyone even knows who he is.

The kid was a 4 star recruit, what's hilarious about thinking people remember him given the recruiting obsession? You won't remember Tony Posada if he plays us in a couple years?

maybe that he never played?
there wasn't alot of excitement around him?
he left cos he was out of shape and lazy?
want me to keep going?
this was a classic example of UM shedding excess weight (literally & figuratively)

What does any of that have to do with your claim that no one knows who he is?Clearly you claim to.

I figure he took the "Can't wait to hear the boos" comment as an indication that O'Neill thinks a bunch of Michigan fans hold some big grudge against him for leaving and/or give a shit that he isn't on the current roster.

He's like all the other guys who are highly rated and everyone gets excited when they sign and then the muddle around as freshmen and they fall off the radar until everyone forgets about them. Especially because he's at a no-name position already.
See: Taylor Hill, Marcus Witherspoon, Anthony LaLota, Vlad Emilien, and of course Dann
If anyone of them transferred to a team we were playing and then they came out and said "Man I can't wait to hear the boos" most Michigan fans would just say "and you are...?"

And he's not posting in a thread about you.

Lack of hype?! Have a look at some of the O'Neil hype:
YMRMFSPA Jake Long - http://mgoblog.com/content/2008-recruiting-offensive-line
I would say there was a HUGE amount of hype over O'Neill as he was seen as the 'next left tackle' that Michigan would send to NFL. Get a life buddy.

Actually, there was a lot of excitement around him as people thought he could fill the shoes of Jake Long. He also wasn't lazy if I remember correctly (is it even possible to be lazy and play college football?), just a bigger, less agile tackle than the players in front of him.
In the end, you are a huge dick for no reason what-so-ever. Who cares if he thinks the regular Michigan fan remembers him? These posts are the type of posts that give Michigan fans the name of over-the-top arrogant. Hopefully you learn to chill out or switch to being a MSU fan...

but he was tagged as the next Jake Long, and almost all regular MGo Readers know who he is.

Who's Justin Boren?

He was a 4 star recruit as the poster above mentions, but it was quite obvious when he arrived on campus that he was not going to live up to his billing.

Date: The future
Time: Friday night, around 10:00pm
Place: Crowded bar somewhere near Kalamazoo
Random fat guy: "Hey....did i mention I was a FOUR STAR recruit out of high school? Well I was....played a little D1 football for Michigan too.......
Chick not as hot as she thinks she is: "Really? That's so cool.....what do the Stars mean?"
Random fat guy: "It means I was ticketed to play some Pro ball, probably for the Packers or the Steelers, until I blew out my knee. Wanna go to my place and see my scar?"

O'Neill was a 4-star at eating pizza and playing Call of Duty.

West Michigan and his brother played for Western.
Do you have any first hand knowledge of him even considering transferring anywhere else?

What a coincidence, I have tons or Western friends that are die-hard Michigan fans, just like Dan.

This kid would probably transfer back and play for Hoke tomorrow if he could. Too bad the NCAA doesn't allow kids to return to their original school without sitting out a year or any other penalty. I wish we had him right now and hope he has a good career.
