Former Commit Rashad Weaver Charged With Assault
Former Michigan camp show out and eventual processed commit Rashad Weaver facing assault charges.
He states that she threw her drink on him, but she claimed that she "spilled" the drink. Weaver ends up with the arrest for simple assault.
Forgot to mention that he was a 4th round pick for the Titans and was a concensus All-American last year.
Not sure being hit with someone's drink allows for a legally defensible physical response.
When I read the first report of this on ProFootballTalk, I thought, "Well, maybe there was a misidentification or something?" (e.g., as happened with Aaron Donald) and then I read this part:
The complaint notes that Weaver, who went to the University of Pittsburgh, “stated to other officers on scene that he had no problem hitting a female if they needed it.”
Not sure how this case will end up in a court of law, but if you are the Tennessee Titans, that is not something you want to hear one of your draft picks say. My strong guess is he will be "cut" before he even has a chance to sign a contract.
Yeah, that has to be one of the top 2-3 worst possible answers to that question by Weaver. I wouldn't be shocked if he's not with the Titans much longer.
Jeffery Simmons thinks the Titans will look the other way.
Yes, yikes, that ranks only in front of "there are several human heads in my trunk."
Another finalist for the "what not to say to the police officer"
"yeah officer, its my weed" Le'Veon Bell
He really took the Sean Connery approach to this answer
It takes a special kind of dumb to openly say something like that. Thinking it is awful enough, but good golly...
It might change case outcome in some way.
Meta World Peaces lack of jail time would like a word.
Browns signed Malik "call your supervisor" McDowell. Apparently, he has gotten his head in the right direction.
Good luck with that Brownies.
Hope so, for Malik's sake.
The fact he was able to stay out of trouble, the news, and back in the league says a lot about a corner he seems to have turned. Even if he doesn’t make it, he seems to be a hell of a lot on a better path that he seemed destined to just a couple years ago
Mamas, don't send your boys to Staee
Curious as to why you put quotes around “spilled” and why you say what Weaver “stated”, vs what she “claimed”.
Maybe he works in media?
It seems that you're suspicious as to whether my intent was to suggest her statement wasn't credible. I can sorta see it read like that, which wasn't my point. Let me say that I believe Weaver's conduct is disgusting here and he deserves the consequences coming to him. Unless that drink was still enclosed in a glass bottle, I don't believe that anyone deserves to be knocked unconscious for throwing a drink on you no matter your gender, but especially if it's a woman who clearly isn't a threat.
Someone find that gif of Joey from Friends* doing air quotes saying "I don't know what this actually means"
*yeah yeah Friends is a bad show whatever
Well that’s 2 of the past 3 drafts where the Titans spent a valuable pick on someone who could fight the ladies back in college.
Simmons' event was in high school and came from trying to break up a fight if I recall correctly.
Has something happened since then? Or does getting caught up in a chaotic event when he was 17/18 define him?
Nope that’s the event. It wasn’t a comment on a player who has been totally clean off the field since that video, but more that the Titans have been picking some risky PR players as that have serious accusations/past actions.
Let's go back and revisit this from Nick Saban
Nick Saban talking about what are the two most compelling words on any #NFLDraft report... "And" & "But" pic.twitter.com/Pu1k9OS3Ow

Nick is right about the words "and" & "but." To illustrate:
Nick Saban is a great coach, and he has won a lot of games, but he is not a good person.
Nick Saban is an outstanding recruiter and is a good coach.
But, if the tallent gap is smaller, his teams do not look as formidable and he can be outcoached.
LSU was 3-8 season before Saban. Saban's first year they went 8-4
Alabama went 12-2 in their second season
In both cases his recruits would either be non-existent or freshman (assuming he was hired shortly before signing day)
Not a good look by the Titans to find out about this incident after drafting him, almost two weeks after it occurred.
After the bullshit with Isaiah Wilson last year, I have a feeling some questions about due diligence are going to start to get asked. This is a BAD miss.
Titans and Cowboys just DGAF.
If I were drafted I’d live in a bubble until that contract is signed. It’s amazing how many people crash bikes or get in fights or whatever with millions on the line. Just behave for like a couple weeks, my god.
Before we rush to judgement, do we know who advised him to assault the lady?
Was he processed out here for off the field concerns or am I thinking of someone else
No, numbers game. Wanted the scholarship for more stars.
His statement after being drafted:
"When I got on the phone, I felt like they got the biggest steal in the draft...For them to pick me, I am excited, but I think they got a great value pick in me...”
Value pick? No. Piece of shit that thinks it's ok to hit women? Yes.
Also,
I thought I would be gone on (Friday), honestly, but some things just change.
Maybe you weren't gone on Friday because other teams didn't want to touch you with a ten foot pole.
He gone.
