Former Alabama OL Lindsay Visiting This Weekend
Tweet says it all, hopefully we can get him on board!

or stopped pursuing, because they might not get in. That being said, I think he'll have an easier time getting in than an undergrad transfer.
When Jason Forcier attempted to transfer to Michigan under these circumstances, he didn't get admitted to a graduate program. He earned an undergraduate degree from Stanford.
Jason Forcier just started too late in the process. Since he had to find graduate programs not offered by Stanford, his options were limited and those seats had been filled by the time he applied.
Never would have happened in 2013.
He had a very impressive offer list for those who are interested. In my opinion that doesnt matter anymore, as he filled in as a high level starter at alabama.
Alabama
Auburn
Florida State
Georgia
LSU
Nebraska

Sweet! Que up some Lynyrd Skynyrd....
This seems like such a no-brainer with all the indications pointing towards UM. The only way I could not seeing it happening is if he is guaranteed to start somewhere else.
I'm all for it especially if he can help stabilize the line, the middle specifically, for one season to get us through to 2015 and beyond when the OL should be set up for dominance.
Let me tell you why this isn't a no-brainer: He's from Texas and went to school in Alabama, so it's possible he doesn't want to be too far from home or hates cold weather. We're also not the only program that needs an experienced OL, and my bet is that he could head to 80% of schools in the country and have a very good shot at starting. We know he played for Nuss, and we can assume he liked him since he's considering following him, but we don't know that he feels Nuss's offense is the best for for him, and maybe he's prefer an offense like Baylor or something along those lines. And who knows what he wants to study? Maybe Michigan doesn't have a grad program in that discipline.
Anyway, I think it's likely that we're the top choice. But there are a lot of reasons why we wouldn't be, so it's far from a "no-brainer."
Aren't these all kind of negated by the fact that HE chose to look at US though?
They are not negated, because we aren't the only school he's looking at. That's like saying those things aren't important to a recruit just because he visits. Look - I didn't say he won't pick us, but don't think it's a no-brainer just because he's visiting. Last I heard, he's doing the same to other schools as well.
Any idea what other schools he is looking at/considering? I've heard his discussed around here quite a bit, but have never heard whomelse he is considering.
He's looking at a big time program that does not have established starters at his potential position. It would be a lot easier to audition for NFL scouts if you're starting in an offense you already know.
I can't see weather being an issue since he won't even be here during the winter. If he has any NFL hopes he'll have to deal with cold weather anyway.
Who's forcing him to stay after the season is over?
he's probably spend the winter training for the NFL combine anyway.
Yeah, and I doubt he's going to tell the Green Bay scouts not to look at him. He's ranked the #22 Center in the country so I'm not sure he has a chance at the NFL.
The reason is due to Nuss and the exact interior zone blocking scheme Lindsay knows very well. Michigan is the perfect fit for him to not only start but have a good to great season as a starting center. I will be surprised if he does not transfer to Michigan.
The dude just graduated from college, though. And it's not like he's going to be away from home for longer than a year.
I think it was last week that Fowler interviewed him about his offers and I know that Lindsay said he would take his time evaluating them, so hopefully we can impress sufficiently, especially as his former OC is our OC now. It would be nice to have someone with the sort of experience he has on that line to provide some guidance to the rest of the unit.
I hope he comes here and says "I should have gone to Michigan in the first place. All you young recruits on the fence . . . always go to Michigan when in doubt."
Something like that.
Literally one of the most important recruits in Michigan football history.
He knows the system, he has had 4 years of strength training. We need him, consider what happens if there's an injury. Football teams need depth as its a rough game. I feel certain he would raise the level of competition at bare minimum. Upside is that he is a natural leader personality and not just a good player and can rally the underclassmen around him, recalling OL plays as a group.
And...he's seen firsthand what it takes to be a championship football team. Twice. We need a person with that level of expectation and experience on our team, fergodsakes. 8-)
Id 100+ posbang you if I could.
Your post are my thoughts, exactly.....
And a guy whose been sitting for four years, now on a fifth year, has got to be chomping at the bit, like no other.....
Aside..... he reminds me of Bubba in the film, Varsity Blues
Why does the prospect of getting Chad Lindsay for only 1 year excite me just as much as Jabrill Peppers arriving this summer?
A couple thoughts.
Our offensive line was likely one the worst in michigan history while our corners were not. From that line, we lost our 2 best players. We didn't lose any corners and have good depth at that position with or without peppers. Lindsay has played well at the collegiate level for a very dominant alabama program and while peppers by all accounts is the real deal, he has not played a collegiate snap yet.
I echo your sentiments, in some ways, because I think Lindsay improves not only his spot on the line but then makes another spot stronger because I think glasgow beats out a guard.
Rhetorical Question Farley. I already knew the answer. When they are hyping up a true freshmen Offensive Lineman (Mason Cole) in the spring as being in the mix for some time next fall.............we are in serious trouble.
Its called coach talk, and motivation for the others as well as Cole.
My goodness...if there ever was a player that we really NEED right now, its him...... considering where we are vs what Michigan used to be, getting Lindsay is as important right now as a commit from a talent like Peppers. And before any of you jump on me for that statement, consider the utmost importance of Michigan's OL returning as fast as possible to what it once was.... having these undergrads there at C right now won't cut it.
If he agrees to transfer to Michigan, we will get a big "HELLO" post on the front page of mgoblog! I guess I'm feeling very optimistic about our chances for Lindsay to chose Michigan for his graduates studies!
More competition
So, is the board generally IN FAVOR of him transferring here? Seems a little wishy-washy.
then...we're mostly in favor?
First of all, your second sentence is just stupid. But as for your first - what Michigan fan thinks this is bad? I see unanimous support for him coming, based on this website.
Isn't that aways the reason for post-grad transfers?
For me it's not just him being good now, it's the incentive to be selfless and really help these young guys learn the scheme. The earlier he's at Michigan, the better off Michigan will be--every rep, every game is a teaching moment for this young OL.
