So is this divided along age lines? This is sweet. I've talked to one hardcore OSU fan, and he thinks it is awesome as well. Recruits will eat it up. It is unique. What is there not to like? Just because you don't get the swoosh you remember?

When I first saw this I was a little unsure given how strong Nike's football ties are but the recruit and media reaction has been strong and uniformly positive (ironically the only negative ones have been Michigan fans). If OSU is inviting LeBron to stand on their sidelines, we just got the one guy whose star outshines his. And he will be there, shaking hands with recruits...

Put me in the "No Thanks" camp.  I understand the stance of the supporters.  This is fresh, cutting-edge, risky, stylish, youthful. etc.  I get it and respect that take.

But I cannot shake two things:

1.  This is uncessary . We had Harbs and Nike.  That's all we needed at the time.  Life was good.  No need to rock it.

2.  It's girlish.  Maybe wimply.  Maybe soft.  Pick your adjective.  I wager its similar.  This is like naming your son Skyler.  Sure, it's risky and new . But it's also soft and risky.  It's like a 40 year old man driving a Volkswagen convertible.  The idea is intriguing, but daily execution is difficult.  It just does not fit.  You don't put a basketball player on arguable a top 5 CFB.

Love the idea. MJ is an icon. He will always be an icon. All the comments make me think we are too specific about football. Heck. Our coach was happy about #4 because of Bobby Orr. If Nike ever made a Charles Woodson or Tom Brady logo and gave it to our basketball team, would you be upset? I wouldn't.

I really hope Jumpman uses this as a vehicle to add a non basketball logo to their lineup. I like everything else about this, except having a logo of a BBall player on a football Uni.

I like it. I'll admit that it's weird and it's different. Jordan brand has expanded into many non-basketball areas, and will continue to be a major player in sports apparel.

As different as this seems now, in 5 years other top programs will sign to the brand, and Jordan will be seen on the jerseys of several jerseys on the football field. When (not if) that happens, we'll be able to look back and say "we were the first."

That will be pretty sweet.

If the Jumpman brand is going to be in college football, then I'm glad Michigan will be the first school to wear it. It's inevitable that Jumpman will be on college football uniforms at some point, and this way Michigan is the trend setter. I like it, and so will recruits.

No! No! No! No! This is like hiring Richrod, its like running the spread offense, it's like putting ketchup on eggs. Keep it simple stupid this is football not basketball duh!!!!! What cleats are they going to wear? Jordans? Jordans are fucking basketball shoes!

What cleats are they going to wear? I'd rather them stay with adidas. Basketball is more of a puss sport then soccer. You're saying it COULD be huge but it can also be not huge. It's a risk. These past seven years have been hell. Now is not the time to take risks. Just wear Nike leave jumpman to basketball

It's not a risk. The Jordan brand trumps everything else. Do you want the same uniforms as MSU but in different colors? It's unique. The Jordan brand tops everything even with the young generation. No recruit will probably ever say it, but we'll land some recruits just because we're the first in Jordan gear. Just think of it as premium Nike. Nobody else has it.

Since I have always think of that logo as basketball. I think it is cool & awesome that Jumpman logo will be on the football jersey and that Michigan is the first football team to have it.

It's a logo. Some stitching. It's not like it's the entire uniform. It's a logo.

Hell, at least it'll still be place on the left chest, rather than in the center and make some of the numbers look weird (like the #1 jersey).

Just a logo.

Maybe in the future we can get back to Michigan being the logo again?

I mean people were upset with the block M being on the back of the jersey, but are ok with a Michael Jordan logo? I don't think I'll understand that rationale even if I drink all day and night.

Someone put a man playing polo on a horse on my work shirt and I'm definitely not playing polo at my office so this does not compute. I should only wear shirts of logos with men typing or ones with little smooth J-shaped squiggles or three lines in mountain formation. Those definitely make more sense!

Hopefully that's what Jumpman eventually becomes...a brand where the basketball logo is not really associated with the sport, but it's going to be much harder to get there in people's minds, because...

Jumpman is well known for its link to basketball and started as a basketball brand. Polo on the other hand was never in the business of producing anything for the sport of polo. They actually started with ties and suits. So, a little different, but since the decisions already been made...here is to hoping it gets there quickly and it doesn't seem odd to half the population.

As everyone, I've got an inside source at Nike. He's an exec in their football/baseball equipment division. I heard this a few weeks ago, but asumed that Nike beat out Jordan. So here is the little bit of the story I can confirm:

Jumpman will be on the jersey for sure. Get over it. Young people will love it.

People at Nike are PISSED that Jordan swept in and took this. Obviously the very top level execs are probably fine with it since Jordan is underneath them. But the Nike Football division is not happy that Jordan Brand is moving in on their turf. While in the end there will probably be some cooperation over Nike and Jordan football brands, you should assume that Jordan will start off with their own vision of how to outfit Michigan football. There will be different people designing O$U's, MSU's and Oregon's (etc.) uniforms than Michigan's.

Also, as everyone knows, MJ did reach out to Harbaugh.

All I'm saying, it's freaking bizarre that there's going to be a basketball player dunking a basketball pictured on a football uniform. Especially when Nike Football is so immediately associated with the swoosh.

I guess I just don't get this. At all. Cool, kids love it and all, but... Jumpman on a football uniform???
