This is absolutely amazing. Michigan Football gear will absolutely fly off the shelves. Cannot wait to see that logo on the unis. We are first. We are the leaders and best.

I love Nike, but using a logo of a basketball player just seems awkward, regardless of who it is. Now, if the Jumpman brand was also introducing a football unique logo...say in the shape of Desmond doing the Heisman pose....now that would be FREAKIN MONEY!

Not a fan of the JumpMan logo on a football jersey but, it's fine for basketball.

(Personal feeling) I feel like Jordan isn't a great guy & is a scandal away from embarrassing any team/player that wears the JumpMan logo.

Just a feeling from an old Piston fan...

My point was just that a scandal come from anyone in high places and if Jordan doesn't seem "stable" in your eyes. Phil Knight can't give you a bunch of confidence either.

They're really one in the same when it comes to brand/arrogance/marketing/working conditions.

I was more reponding to that last part about Jordan.

I don't see how you can be upset about this and you don't even know what it means for us yet. From reading these comments no one knows in what capacity jumpman will be represented on the unis but half the board is furious. Lol that's insane. Any other time we have to "wait for all the details" before forming an opinion. Funny how the internet works.

I prefer the Swoosh to the Jumpman logo, but whatever.  Not gonna lose any sleep over it.

BTW, whats the deal with all the downvotes all throughout this thread?

I don't give a shit if we have the Aflac duck on our uniforms as long as we win. Lets face it recruits are gonna like this cause its stylish. So I'm all for it

Yes jumpman didnt start out as football. But they are now in other sports, reppes by the premiere athletes in those sports.
Its a big deal we are the only CFB team to be jordan.
Bet all of you complaining now were also complaining about the forward pass and facemasks on helmets...

Can't really complain about stuff that happened before I was born.

Now, I don't hate the idea, but I don't love it either. I will say this though...the swoosh on a UN Football jersey just has a nice look to it, because of our previous success wearing the swoosh. People liking to see things that remind them of better times is just normal human behavior. If we were winning while wearing Adidas, no one would have really cared that much at the end of the day. So, if we win, no ones really going to care that much about this either...but if we keep losing, people will complain about this "gimic".

"Bet all of you complaining now were also complaining about the forward pass and facemasks on helmets..."

Not true. I might be a little older than some of you (born in 1974) but, I'm open to change & feel your painting with a very wide brush, per your comment above. I'm not sure if you understand the evolution of the Michigan helmet but, if it weren't for the old leather helmets & how they were stitched you'd never have our wing shaped dome. If it weren't through the evolution of the forward pass, our team wouldn't have painted the wings on our helmets (that mimicked stitching of the leather helmets) yellow so our QB could find his WR's. Michigan is a school that is full of tradition & prides itself as such. I have no problem with changes but, to make the assumption that it's youth v. The blue hairs is silly. Tradition is passed down & some things need a little getting accustom to...lets do it together!

Let's win a few games, let's get back our swagger, and let's start building new Desmond/Woodson moments & stop living in the past but, NEVER forgetting the past or traditions & be patient with us older folks...we'll come around.

Go to bed....what is this the no fun zone?  It was a joke.....and your "I mean an old person could post a set of gifs showing the difference in disposable income to spend on Michigan gear, which would counter your gifs" Is a great comparison....good job bro.

Here is one more gif for you.

Not true - stereoptypes are fun.  I'm white, so I'm likely relatively smart (but not Asian smart) and unathletic (but not Asian unathletic).  I'm bad at dancing and my food is bland.  I'm on the taller end of the spectrum but have an average sized penis.

It's sad we have to be politically correct and lie. I am type casted quite often. It is sometimes positive and sometimes negative, but most always true. I am happy with myself, and all men and women regardless. We have taken the stereotype sensitivity to a place where many can't even communicate without lying, and when they are honest it's a problem. So we lie and let things fester instead of helping them.

I'm not saying we have to be politically correct, but why not just say "I like them" instead of "young people like them"....as if anyone can really speak on behalf of all others in a group. I guess I just don't care for stereotypes, because most imply something negative about a group of people.

If you havent grown up with the Jordan brand then your not going to understand this move.  This simply wont make sense to most (not all) older people that dont understand the impact this brand brings.....and the fact that this brand is expanding into football & is leveraging Michigan as a program to showcase this new venture is fucking awesome.

Umich97

August 14th, 2015 at 12:11 AM ^

I understand the move. I just don't like a logo of a BBall player on football unis. Wouldn't care for it the other way around either. I just prefer things that go well together and seem natural. Maybe it won't seem odd in 10-20 years or maybe the brand will dissolve in 10-20 years...no idea. Just seems strange is all.

The younger group here has no idea of the Jordan Craze and what he was and is to Shoes etc: the younger people see the logo see the shoes and think cool! The older ones know deep down that he was the trend setter and that the Jordan brand is the brand to have in athletic wear! Plain and simple

There will always be done fans that complain. Jordan has been more than a basketball brand for a decade, if not more. I would bet that the reaction was similar when Michigan first became a Nike school.

Umich97

August 13th, 2015 at 11:21 PM ^

I guess I figured that was just a few select students that had issues with foreign labor conditions and saw Nike as a good target, more so than anyone mainstream complaining about it. Then again, everyone I knew wore Nike products for personal use, so most of us were excited to have a high quality brand for our apparel. Plus Nike was giving the athletes tons of cool stuff.

But also, during that first Nike contract, Nike had some trouble properly outfitting a lot of our nonrevenue sports teams and a lot of players/coaches were unhappy.   Quality-control issues with uniforms and equipment lingered for a few years.  The 1990s were when Nike first ventured into all-sports contracts with universities and it was a bumpy road for a while.

Almost certainly not.  Mike did say "first", after all, not "only".  They are probably going to roll it out at various schools throughout the years.  Probably one of few though, considering not many basketball schools rock Jumpman gear.
