Finebaum on ESPN Radio / CFB Podcast, "I'm genuinely happy for Jim Harbaugh"

Interesting listen. Sounds genuine and contrite.  "Absolute masterpiece on the board yesterday". Oh Pete.  Jumping on the bandwagon now? Sorry, not enough room!

I just listened, it is at the 2:21 mark.  But honestly, mind as well start from the beginning.

Edit:  Now about 10 minutes in, and this was a delicious podcast.  Highly recommended.  Finebaum eats it all.  Credits the committee for putting us ahead of MSU right away and being completely correct.

Finebaum mocked and ridiculed Harbaugh, Michigan football players, and football fans for years while on his knees praising Ohio State and SEC teams.

No thinking person respects his opinion.  Especially if he seems "genuine and contrite", which in the context of Finebaum should always have sarcastic quotes around it.

He is a certified article genuine POS because his intentionally inaccurate takes and lousy sports journalism make ESPN an ever worse embarrassment than it already is.

I'm genuinely curious about this... why does anyone give a hot damn what Paul Finebaum thinks?

He's just some radio guy who is paid to talk about and promote the SEC content on the ESPN networks, specifically the SEC Network. It's not like anyone knew or cared about him before. He's not interesting, he doesn't say particularly smart things. He knowingly, and admittedly, just "creates content". He's got three? four? hours of air time a day to fill, which means that he has to spend hours and hours a week just shoveling shit as a job. There's no room for well rationed think there. He's a volume talker. He's the Monte Ellis of saying dumb shit to entertain SEC fans.

Finebaum went to church where the sermon said that after years of oppression at the hands of the Great Evil, the Michigan Offensive Line, aka Moses, parted the Red Sea for Haskins to steamroll Buckeye safeties on his way to the promise land on 5 occasions.

Well what else could he say but recognize the FACTS. The well-coached, well-played BIG game is HISTORY and cannot be denied.  Is there some other rational take?

I don't give people much credit for stating the obvious.

Yes, it was nice that his following heard some nice things about Harbaugh and Michigan but there has been so much bias against Michigan that a little nugget of truth doesn't do much for me.

Speaking of podcasts, I will, in lieu of making a new post, recommend both the Cover 3 (starting at 7 minutes) and Unnecessary Roughness podcast (starting at 11 minutes but I would recommend starting from the beginning if you have the time, it's hilarious). In both, there are about 2 minutes of what I as a Michigan fan might best describe as pod-porn.

Guys like Pete are just playing a character for clicks and ratings. You can't take it so literally. They make some fan bases happy and other ones really mad... and either way both of them pay attention to the guy and that's all that matters.

All the pundits are shit heads and were shitting on Harbaugh.

The narrative

0-5 record vs. OSU - never mentioning the robbery in 2016 or injured QBs going into the game

3-4 record vs. MSU - never mentioning the 2015 fluke punt 6 or this year's officiating absurdity and low probability events.

Ultimately, they are not like fans - some willing to look at the details and nuance of why things have gone the way they have.

IE...I believe Harbaugh should be 5-2 vs. MSU and 2-5 vs. OSU had normal outcomes taken place.

Ultimately, however, you are what your records says you are - as they say - so good for Harbaugh...he had been snake bitten and deserved this win.  The best way to get a program defining win like this is to dominate like UM did yesterday and not leave it in the hands of the officials or a few high leverage/low probability plays that can go against you.

The Harbaugh detractors can go fuck themselves, nuance is never part of their agenda, but hell, if it helps our program's momentum and recruiting, let them sing his praises today.

Honestly regardless of what he has said in the past he just owned it, and I felt like he was genuine.  All that matters is that you can clearly see Jim’s players love him and they are a true team this year.  The way they all talk and more importantly walk is coming straight from Jims example.  The team did the best thing you could do is just win…crickets now from the nay sayers, or praise.  Once you start walking there is nothing for them to say anymore.  Go Blue!
