...and Notre Dame is the strong favorite to land him.

Hartman's transfer now means 7 starting QBs in the ACC are/were in the portal.

Year 2 of Marcus Freeman will be interesting to see.  ND had massive issues at the QB position this year.  Hartman is better than anything they had by a country mile.

I watched him when Wake played Clemson, and wasn't very impressed.  I don't think he's a game breaker sort of guy.  His passes seemed within a few yards of target, not overly off and not pinpoint.  And he didn't appear dangerous with the ball, either running or throwing.  Honestly, I thought he was just an average QB on a decent team.

A good pickup by ND if he goes there but it's still a one-year rental and they're losing Mayer, who is by far their best offensive weapon.  He'll be better than Pyne but that Wake offense puts a ton of pressure on opposing defenses and is stylistically unique; what ND runs with Rees at OC is going to be far less "innovative" and so may necessitate more QB performance that Hartman had at WF.

I thought Pyne was decent enough, but with Carr's grandson coming in for 2024, Pyne figured he'd be the odd man out and left. Pretty funny how the best Qbs, at start of season in ACC, have left for other schools, except Maye at UNC, where he has strong family connections.

Hartman should be a nice fill-in. ND has Ohio and USC at home, along with WF. Other than Clemson, east road schedule. But they could still end up no better than 9-3, after 8-4 (probably 8-5 since they have no experienced Qb for the bowl game).
