Erick All officially out for season, per Harbaugh

The title really says it all.

LINK:  Injury update: Michigan TE Erick All officially out for the season. (Michigan Insider.)

It was posted that he had surgery last week in Florida, but this is the first formal announcement I've seen that All is out. The article does not comment on All's plans for the 2023 season.

While I miss having All, we've been so fortunate to have Luke Schoonmaker and the depth behind him.

Not that photos can really tell you anything about one's condition, but the photo that was posted of All at the hospital, surrounded as he was by equipment and in a gown, made me assume that we probably weren't going to see him this year, which is rather a shame. Great player, great kid who really has overcome quite a bit, as a recent spot of the Kickoff Show highlighted.

Your disk doesn't "break." And yes it can rub against the spinal cord but that's not dangerous by itself.  We don't know what kind of surgery he had but back surgery needs time to heal for most people and in a top level athlete it needs even more time or the alternative complication can be much worse.  Since he's a potential NFL athlete he needs to heal and this all makes sense.

Good luck to All. A great player and sure hope he comes back for a year. Next year's offense will be fun with him especially against PSU on the road.

I saw that posted weeks ago too and people were actively trying to get that conversation to stop, like it was a bad look to discuss the possibility.

I joined years ago because the inside info here was excellent (I was dying to know who was going to win the 2016 QB battle).

Now, it’s literally the opposite: when someone posts inside info, they are downvoted into oblivion and told to stop speculating, or to stop posting stuff behind paywall, or stop posting info from one of the 85 banned people or websites.

heres hoping all underwent a hardware-free procedure and they just trimmed him up.  hes got a bright future regardless but never great to see young kids with spine issues.  im sure hed like to continue playing ball and take his shot at pros

Um.... there's a bar that has been set for "title says it all" today that you're going to work much harder if you want to meet.

Well looks like that early season rumor that no one wanted to confirm was true. I respect privacy yet interesting it took a public surgery announcement by All for Harbaugh to finally say it. Bell last year and All this year.

Didn't someone make a post a few weeks ago saying Erik All was probably out for the year, and it got a bunch of downvotes?

I wish this Michigan Man a speedy recovery. As he termed it a life changing operation. My hope is that the young man gets his degree and he thinks about his future with his newfound family responsibilities.

I am not selfish enough to hope on him returning to football next year if he potentially risks  permanent damage. I'm sure he will get a lot of advice from his family and professionals on his next steps. Good luck any way he chooses.

I would be surprised if he sticks around for another year.  I was pleasantly surprised that we got 2022.  He's got nothing left to prove at this point.  Had it not been for the injury this year, we might be talking about him as our best TE of all time (although our crazy depth at the position might have taken away some of his glory).

We've had some great tight ends. Jim Mandich comes to mind, as does Jake butt, Funchess, Jeremy Tuman, Aaron Shea, and if memory serves, Ron Kramer played tight end. Of course, there have been many others, but these kinda jump out to me.

I hope all comes back and I have no doubt he'd make the list of the great ones!

Glad they finally got around to saying something. All the best for Eric; hope he recovers well for next season, either here or in the NFL.

Now, would it kill them to say SOMETHING about NHG or McNamara?
