Eifert gets ND in trouble with tweet
According to the Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune here is the offical word from the NCAA:
Official NCAA word on Eifert tweet: "A student-athlete cannot publicize a prospective student-athlete's visit." Bylaw 13.10.5.#NotreDame
Here is Eiferts Tweet:
@EiferTy80: Big recruiting day tomorrow here at ND. Looking forward to meeting and hangin with 5 star Fort Wayne native@JaeeSmiff9ENT
Anyone know what this does to the recruitment of Jalen Smith for Notre Dame? They currently lead for him.
It probably doesn't hurt ND's chances it just means the ND will be cited for a minor recruiting violation.
It's something to make fun of ND with, and that's all that really counts.
Yeah I'd assume there won't be any punishment. Like someone said, in todays world, you can't prove it was him anyway
That they're going to have to sign Stefon Diggs instead.
I doubt it's anything serious. I actually wouldn't mind ND landing Smith, rather them than OSU. Of course I'd rather Purdue over them both, but for some reason I don't think that will happen.
Hell, I'd rather have ND sign every single 5 star that we don't. At least that way you know they'll never come back to hurt you. UND stands for UNDerperform.
5 star freshmen die slow and painful four-year deaths at ND. Ohio uses elite recruits to beat us. So, yeah, exactly what you said.
Almost as foolproof as the Chewbacca defense.
Clearly the only way to redress this grevious wrong.
Their sisyphian struggle to return to glory is not enough for you?
But I'd rather liberate some of that talent that's being wasted. (assuming they don't go to another rival or something.)
at Wisconsin did something almost identical last year. It's a secondary violation that probably got nothing more than making the Wisconsin team sign a memo from the NCAA acknowledging that they understand the bylaw. More of an annoyance than anything else.
SORRY NOT ENOUGH POINTS TO START THRED. DOES ANYBODY KNO WHATS GOING ON W/ALEX KOZAN?
still high on Peyote.
IS THIS GOOD NEWS FOR OUR CHANCES?
dude, he's going to Auburn.
because your fly is open and your 44 points are hanging out.
is old news! auburn tigers now
will have the weed and the hos ready for Smith's visit, nothing of consequence will happen because of this.
I think we're going to see this happen more and more with social networks being mainstream.
This won't amount to anything as it shouldn't. It's not like recruiting visits, including the unofficials, are all that secretive anymore
So I love what Shane Morris and friends are doing for Michigan recruiting at the moment, but I'm wondering if the coaching staff has sat down with him and made sure he understands the rules regarding NCAA recruiting rules. It'll probably be morer of an issue once he signs his LOI, if he hasn't done so already. Given that verbals mean absolutely nothing to the NCAA, he's probably just as subject to NCAA rules as you or I. But as an official commit, I think hell' need to watch what he says. Just something to be aware of...
I think it only applies once he's actually a student. LIke registered for classes and on campus, then that'll be the end of Sugar Shane the recruiter, at least until he gets a job here
What would be the purpose of such a rule?
Say I'm a football player, so if a high school teammate of mine (who was a year behind me) or my younber brother comes to campus and a I tweet about it, it is a secondary violation?
You can't say anything about the recruiting part. You can however say for example "Hanging with my bro or teamate tomorrow, big day" which would be different sittuationn
I don't think the NCAA cares about anybody else except the students.
The NCAA really needs to toss out their rule book and re-write it. With everyone and their brother following recruiting at their particular schools there are entire agendas posted around detailing who and when the are coming for a visit.
Hell is it in the by laws on what you can say or do on twitter?
is getting out of hand.
