Question. For years (even when RR was the coach), during rivalry or other big games I find myself holding out hope that the team can put everything together for 4 full quarters--you know, a game where EVERYTHING clicks. I think to myself "It's a rivalry. the players are more intense and focussed and should play really well". Then, this doesn't happen.....ever. The last game that I can remember where Hoke's guys put everything together for an entire game was Nebraska 2011. So, are there others out there that hold out hope like I do? Are there others who think "today is the day"?

I know this team is bad, but I do think that the have a lot of good components as well.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Even in 2008 when UM went 3-8, I spent every Saturday literally on the edge of my couch watching, hoping for victory. Lately I feel like I'm becoming disconnected. Hey, a guy can hope, right?

Here's to hoping that Michigan can put it all together today!

I'm agreeing with Heiko on this one. UM 21 MSU 17

Did Illinois, at one point in their history, feature gray in the unis/official school colors?

Or did they just want to pay homage to watching college football prior to the advent of the color television set?

In any event, based on how this game is going so far, I might consider sticking with them the rest of the year.

PSU is a world better at defense than Minnesota.  They had an offensive plan; PSU did all they could to stop them.

Again, this isn't a good offense by any means.  But starting Morris (and then keeping him in when it was clear he wasn't a good option) makes that game such an outlier.  I mean, as soon as Gardner came in they scored a TD.  They might not have won that game, but it definitely would have been more interesting.

It's baffling to me that there is no consistancy with Michigan. UM seems to use Funchess for one half of the game and completely forget he even exists for the other half. Norfleet is great at creating in space, but we don't utilize him in that way (like with buble screens). It seems like playing time is distibuted based on who did what in practice this week. I don't understand. It's maddening.

of Nova and the Rutgers offense, plus the manhandling the Illinois D is giving to Minnesota, serves to illustrate just how hollow Michigan's D really is.

But where are the people who want to defend Michigan's poor record by bringing up how all their losses might actually be to sneaky good teams. Minnesota and Rutgers are average at best and Michigan is worse this year.

First time all season I have been able to sit down and watch a whole day of games. Well, starting now at least. No school, no girlfriend, no kid. Just me, football, pizza rolls, and beer. It's gonna be a good day. No, I am not aware of any big game at 3:30 that might ruin my day.

I'm not sure if Rutgers just isn't any good or if they just aren't good on the road,  Maybe both.  But this team doesn't look a thing like they did at home against UM and PSU.

I'm pretty sure it just boils down to hierachry.

MSU, OSU are at the top.

Nebraska

Wisconsin

Then a muddle of Northwestern, Minnesota, Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, Iowa and Michigan.

Purdue, Indiana, Illinois.

(I know Northwestern beat Wisconsin, but overall I think they are a step above the teams below them).

We're the second best recruiting team in the conference and somewhere between 5th and 11th in actual play.

Well, there's a little more than an hour until kickoff.

Here's hoping that a few hours from now all manner of furnature will be set ablaze throughout the streets of EL.

UM 21 MSU 17
