Donovan Edwards injury?

I just watched a clip of Harbaugh’s press conference from today and someone asked him if there was any update on Donovan’s injury. He replied something like “No update, we are still working through some things.” I never heard that he was injured in the game. Hoping it’s nothing serious.

No evidence whatsoever other than my own eyes but it looked like he hit his head on that long pass reception. Maybe concussion protocol. I see a tweaked ankle listed above and that is just as likely.

I agree. But, I am sure Edwards knew his number was going to be called on the next play to punch it in the endzone - it was his drive after all - and did not mention it to anyone until he was ready to do so. Now, this is all speculation, but he certainly would not be the first player to "have his bell rung" only to unwisely tough it out.

I've sustained four concussions in my life resulting in temporary short-term memory loss, and in each case the effects of the concussion didn't become manifest until after several minutes had elapsed. I didn't lose consciousness in any of them, and in each case I bounced back to my feet without any problem.

Donovan caught the 33-yard pass when his head hit the turf at 9:03 of the quarter, and he ran the ball in on the very next play at 8:38, just 30 seconds or so later, so if he sustained a concussion the effects may not have shown up yet.

I'm not asserting he didn't have an ankle injury, but from I can tell from the play-by-play on ESPN.com, Edwards didn't touch the ball again after he scored the one-yard TD. Unless he was back on the field after that but didn't touch the ball, he would have injured his ankle during his three carries or on the pass he caught.

He did.  He stopped with kind of an odd step when tangled up with a defender going out of bounds and winced with a very slight limp back to the other sideline, and then was not seen again.  Pretty sure he was not concussed and has a knee or ankle thing.  Hope he's back in action soon.

Certainly hope that it’s nothing serious. Maybe not a bad idea to have him sit UConn and have him (hopefully) ready for Maryland, or Iowa after that.

After seeing CJ Stokes run a few times the first two games, I think getting him some more reps would have some benefit for the stretch run. Having Edwards be able to step into a larger role when Corum got hurt was crucial for the later part of last season.

the fact that our #2 RB and multi-faceted five-star threat has a potentially significant injury, yet our response to this is "that's okay, we'll make do" is a testament to the order of magnitude our offense has progressed in the past few years.

I think you h old him out to Iowa at least then.. i dont think offensive weapons will be an issue vs. maryland (last year's ridiculous game by him not withstanding). We need him later on.

I will say, on his one big run that i recall before the catch, he didnt look super fast on it..  maybe that was before the injury since he owned that drive.

I hope he's not a brittle guy-- he has a ton of talent, but, we have yet to see it consistently game after game. Against the Iowas and PSUs, we're gona need balance to Corum, and I hope he's it!

Stokes looked fantastic. more of him!

Hope he's okay. Honestly if he had to sit this week that's okay. It shouldn't make too much of a difference against a bad UConn team. If he had to sit against Maryland too, he'd be missed but I'm fairly confident Michigan can still win without him.

Going on the road to Iowa is definitely where this team would need him back.

That all said, if Edwards does have to sit then hopefully this means that Stokes can get some more quality reps.
