Does the 2011 Night Game w/ND herald ND's entrance into the Big Ten (11)[12]?

I'm wondering if this will be ND's first Big (11) Ten conference game. Thoughts?

Conference expansion won't happen until at least 2012, and then you're probably looking at a phase in period of a year or so to let the new members get their contractural arrangements with future opponents settled (i.e. cancelling other games to comply with Big Ten conference schedule)

Big Six Zero Lego I guess at this point it's time to admit to you all that this was actually born out of a potential shirt design, or rather an entire series of shirt designs. Unfortunately, and obviously enough, it is legally not worth it on multiple fronts, so they won't happen. I had an entire line of players and everything, and at some point I'll probably show 'em... but thanks for the compliments. And don't worry, we'll have new shirts for 2010.

I have family that went to ND, so while I find ND annoying, I still respect and want them to win (as long as they're not playing us, AND their ego is in check.) In fact, I have a baby brother who's almost 2, and my dad the other day looked to him and said GOoooooooooo... and he expected my brother say "Irish" but instead, he said "Blue!" I wonder who taught him that. Just doing my civic duty, trying to prevent this kid from going Irish...it's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.

I don't mind playing Notre Dame, but ND should be one of a score of major non-conference opponents Michigan should be playing on a rotating basis. If the current scheduling agreement remains intact and Notre Dame doesn't join the Big Ten, that means: 1. Michigan will have played Notre Dame as a non-conference opponent for 16 straight years (2002 through 2017). That's the longest consecutive stretch since the series was renewed in 1978. 2. Unless there's another break sometime in the 2020's, that will mean Michigan will have played Notre Dame as a non-confernce opponent 28 out of 30 years between 2002 and 2031. The only scheduled break in the series we know of is in 2018/2019. As a Michigan fan, I find that somewhat disappointing. I understand that most major BCS programs play only one major non-conference game per year and its okay to me that UM does the same thing. What I'm not cracked up about is that there's no variety when it comes to that one non-conference opponent--Michigan is locked to the hip with Notre Dame. I can think of almost a dozen teams off my head that I'd like to see Michigan play in addition to Notre Dame--Virginia Tech, Florida State, Miami-FL, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas would make the list. I said this in another post, but wouldn't it be great to make a road trip to Athens, Georgia or Austin, Texas during some future September? There's been an annual season opener in Atlanta these past few seasons--why not Michigan v. Virginia Tech or Florida State in the Georgia Dome over Labor Day weekend? Why not a game in The Swamp or in Miami? Why not a night game in Baton Rouge or in the heart of Dixie? Does anyone here not like the idea of playing Texas, Nebraska or Oklahoma in the new stadium in Dallas? Conversely, wouldn't it be great to see any of the teams I mentioned above playing at Michigan Stadium in September--and perhaps at night? What about Wolverines and Longhorns under the lights, for example (remember how big the Ohio State-Texas game was a few years ago?).

could give this game some much needed national stage. AND, if the team is indeed really f#*#@kin on by 2011, this could become a real coming out party for Michigan. I think I may have to just coin the term RFO for any and all future Rilo Kiley references.

More importantly, is the fact that the ad at the top of mgoblue is to register to attend the university of Notre Dame an indication that they are about to join the B10??? Come on guys! Ha, jk, I am all for finding a way to generarte revenue to get the great coverage you guys provide...

In retrospect, expansion won't take place that quickly, as previously mentioned. And, wouldn't UM schedule a couple more "preseason games" before scheduling a conference opponent (assuming ND was in-conference)?

I thought it was interesting that David Brandon said he talked to the ND AD while in Indianapolis at a Big Ten Conference meeting. So did he pop over to South Bend for a chat. Did Swarbrick pop over to Indianapolis for a chat. Or was that a slip and was Swarbrick in Indianapolis to talk conference expansion possibilities?

I don't know much about millen's personal life but Swarbrick didn't want to pull his kids out of school and make his wife change jobs and then move everyone up to south bend. He probably saw what happened to the Weis's and thought a buffer would be advantages for his family.

I'd like to think the OP is onto something--and the more I think about it--I'm willing to bet all I have that Notre Dame is headed to the Big Ten sooner rather than later. Eleven bucks says the OP either has it nailed, or that will be the day that ND to the Big Ten is announced.
