Do you foresee helmet stickers returning?

Submitted by twohooks on

I believe it was Mo to Lloyd which transitioned into just the winged helmet. With such a loyal ambition to Bo do you think JH will revive this incentive for players or do you stand with a non-cluttered beauty which is the symbol of all that is Michigan?

I kind of liked the numbers we had for UTL and conference games back in 2011 but if Jim wants stickers I probably wouldn't complain. The helmet looks so good without the clutter tho.

I remember the helmet stickers and believe that they are a historic a part of the winged helmet.  I don't like how some teams, Ohio, seem to use them way too much.  I believe they should be given out judicially and not for showing up to practice.  Notice I said practice and not class!

My answer: whatever Harbaugh wants.

Seriously. That's my answer. Whatever the heck Jim Harbaugh thinks will make us a better team (and isn't dishonest, obviously), I'm for.

Stickers look classic.

Clean helmets look classic.

FWIW Jim had them as a player under Bo and while at Stanford. He was actually the first coach to use them at Stanford. I have a feeling they'll return. I'm in favor of it happening. The program needs a change, this is one of the many ways this can happen.

I hope he brings back the Bo-style coaches cap with the thin, clean looking block M. Lloyd went with a fatter block M, and of course, Brady went hatless.

about something so trivial in the grand scheme of things. But this fan base will always find something to bitch about! If reports are accurate and Jim indeed is the next coach, I am okay with anything he does for the betterment of the program!

Whatever they do...just get rid of legends jerseys. Let these kids leave their own legacies.  Instead of playing in the shadows of the past...

As a kid I remember Rick Leach had so many of them you could barely see the wings. I thought it was cool back then. But I like seeing our iconic helmet. I can go either way and will leave it up to coach Jim!

If the players like it I don't see why it'd be a bad thing to bring back. Like a lot of people have said already, I've never seen them in my lifetime, so I can live without them but also wouldn't mind them being there...

Screw aesthetics if it stands in the way of creating a culture of accountability and winning. Bring on the stickers. I would bet my house that no one who played for Bo ever said "wins and losses are just a statistic." Benefit of the doubt/context or not, that's gotta change. I can't wait.

Always been in the minority here, but I love the stickers.  It reminds me of the MIchigan I watched as a child.  The Ricky Powers, the Desmond Howards and Derrick Alexanders, and the Grbac, Dreisbachs, and Wheatleys.

I would love to see them return.  Maybe "clean" helmets could be an alternate or "throwback" style.

1. They clutter up the helmets aesthetically.

2. They represent individual achievement over team achievement, even if they're structured in such a way as to maximally align with team interests.

Yost was the most successful coach in M history and didn't use winged helmets, Crisler invented them and didn't put stickers on his player's helmets. 2/3 Heisman winners didn't have helmet stickers and neither did 11/11 national championship teams. No disrespect to Bo, but I wouldn't say helmet stickers were vital to M success and I wouldn't call Moeller's teams recent.

My dislike is just aesthetics so I won't pretend to tell anyone how to think, but I love seeing the wings, stickers not so much.

Also, not that it's important but the Denard picture was taken at the Sugar Bowl in Hoke's first season.
